I'm sure these will sound really familiar to folks here!
(Hope it hasn't already been posted.)

Sounds like they could have come from a chapter of the Protocols.

Ya...when I started discussing the holocaust on various public forums, the dishonest debaters started coming so thick and fast I had to keep a text document handy with a list of their methods so I could simply respond to their posts and point out their tactics. You just point out their tactics and not get baited in. (mods soon realize that youre winning and close/delete threads).

Dishonest debate tactics:

- Evading any talk of facts, evidence, logic.
- Name calling.
- Accusations of mental illness.
- False premise (saying that some book or document or website proves something that it doesn't, they never quote the source they recommend) "go read a book" "go read this webpage" etc
- Questioning the motives of the opponent
- Playing on widely held fantasies
- Stereotyping
- Mudraking whilst ignoring the persons work.
- Rejecting facts or logic as opinion
- Argument from intimidation
- Associating the opponent with fringe/"hate" groups
- Innuendo/Insinuation
- Peer approval of subjective opinion
- Political correctness
- Use of Buzzterms/Newspeak
- Mocking/ridicule/Theatrical fake laughter or sighs
- Straw Man
- Emotional Pleading
- Making the debate personal rather than addressing the subject matter
- Presenting a posters clearly marked sarcasm as their actual position.
- Obfuscating line of debate
- Claiming "out of context" without posting the context or explanation of the claim.

Cool soundtrack on that video by the way..I like a bit of nice chilled beats.

Zone has some good information on the Hasbara handbook you may be interested in and also the Navy's multiple internet personality technology.

I have a go on forums now and again but you are rowing against the tide if youre trying to reach people with truth especially on Christian forums which are basically run by infiltrators.

I've pretty much lost interest in trying to post too much of any real substance at the moment at Christian sites also. I have also felt they are run by infiltrators! Either that, or the thoroughly brainwashed who take offense at the least little hint that what they hold dear might be incorrect.

I'm thankful that I took someone's advice at a forum back when I did, or I might still have the wool pulled over my eyes.

Those tactics you have listed really do identify the kind of person you are debating, doesn't it? Because honest, intelligent people who seek truth do not use those "tactics", and even if they disagree they aren't so apt to be hateful toward others and turn on them in such a way.

The LA Marzulli site that Lou mentioned is one I am familiar with also and have experienced most all of those tactics there at one time or another, as well as being banned from there more than once!
He, the author of those Christian sci-fi books, really can't let truth interfere with his book sales and power-point presentations!

And that's why he rubs me the wrong way, worse than others, is because of his twisting scripture for his own financial gain. I haven't quit praying for him, but I also can't believe he isn't aware of the deception he is promoting.

The truth isn't so easy to come by, is it? These days one really has to dig for it and go where others fear to tread.
