The "Remnant of Her Seed" In Revelation 12: 17 As Those In the Lukewarm Laodicean Church
Bernard Pyron

On another Christian forum, I posted something about the Christian Remnant
being the narrow way of Matthew 7: 13-14, and said that "the
remnant of her seed" in Revelation 12: 17, who the dragon is
trying to age war upon, is that same Christian Remnant.

This morning someone on the forum came back with this statement,
as part of an argument against what I had posted: "The manchild is a direct
contrast to the lukewarm Laodicean church that is weighed down by the cares
of life, and so misses the upward calling in Christ. These Laodiceans are the
same as the “remnant” of the woman’s seed." Apparently this person is saying
"the "remnant" of the woman's seed" refers to Revelation 12: 17.

This text
says "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the
remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God,
and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."

This person also cited some of the standard dispensationalist end time prophecy, and
said the 144,000 are all Jews.

Maybe saying that the remnant of her seed in Revelation 12: 17 refers to
those having the Laodicean mindset was just something this person
made up to argue against the interpretation that the remnant of her seed refers
to the Christian remnant of our time who try to follow the Lord and the scriptures, and
seek to wake up some in the broad way theology of the churches to the truth. But maybe
this interpretation of the remnant of her seed is part of some theology. Has anyone
ever come across this view of Revelation 12: 17?

The "woman" represents the Church correct?

And the "remnant of her seed" are scattered true Christians wherever they may be right?

The "woman" is a metaphor also; she is not some literal woman. My first idea on what she is described in Romans 9: 8. She is the "children of the promise" counted for the seed She is in Galatians 4: 26 the "Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all."

A guy in the same forum I mentioned who is more clearly a follower of dispensationalism said today that Satan tries to attack some of the the Christians in Revelation 12: 6 and 12: 14. And then Satan, he claims, will try to attack the REST of the Christians, who he says "OBEY GOD'S COMMANDMENTS AND HOLD TO THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS” **just
before** the coming of 666 and the beginning of the 1260-day or
42-month Great Tribulation."

In other words, he denies that the Remnant in Revelation 12: 17 is the group I think is made up of those who love the truth and try to bring a few in the church out of false doctrines. Its just "whats left" of God's saints, as he says.

But the texts of Rev 12: 6 and Rev 12: 14 do not talk about the dragon making war on the manchild. Verse 6 only says the woman fled into the wilderness where she has a place made for her by God and will be fed there. Verse 14 adds that in the wilderness she is nourished "for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the dragon."

The only verse I can see where the Dragon goes to make war with the seed of the woman is in verse 17, and there he is said to go to make war with the remnant.

Well I agree with you.

But dont you think its weird how all the dispys are so bent on an Earthly millenial reign of Jesus from Jerusalem when theres nothing in scripture about it?

Yes, the dispys find their one man anti-Christ as a world ruler in Daniel 9: 27 as "he" who really refers back to the Messiah in verse 26. They think the millennial reign will be a Jewish kingdom where Gentiles will be allowed in.

Some possible followers of Messianic Judaism have been on that other Forum where someone claimed the remnant in Rev 12: 17 is made up of the lukewarm Laodicean church. Some dispys like them. I found a site saying that "From 2003 to 2007, the movement grew from 150 Messianic houses of worship in the United States to as many as 438.." Maybe the prediction by the dispys that the Jews
will all be saved during the tribulation will turn out to be an increase in the numbers of Jews who become followers of Messianic Judaism.

I got a letter from Fearless Dave MacPhearson a few days ago. We call him Fearless because he stood up to the dispys and they can be nasty if you criticize their doctrines.

Unfortunately Messianic Jews dont know Jesus or what Christianity is about otherwise they wouldnt be rabid lawkeepers and teach others they must keep Mosaic law, so I doubt very much that putting the tag "messianic" in front of their religious affiliation is gonna help them much before God.
