Op-Ed: Protestants and Israel: The Kairos Document Debate
Published: Thursday, December 06, 2012 12:17 AM

Dr. Gerstenfeld interviews Prof. Hans Jansen on the Kairos Document; "The document called for considering the Israeli occupation policy ‘a sin."

“The Protestant world is greatly divided regarding Israel. On one hand, there is much hate promotion against Israel, on the other hand, there are many supporters of Israel, in particular among Evangelical and Orthodox Protestants.

“One important occasion where both could be seen was at the debate concerning a text which became known as the Kairos document. It was published in 2009 by Palestinian Christians. The official title is ‘A moment of truth: A word of faith, hope and love from the heart of Palestinian suffering.’”

Prof. Hans Jansen is the author of a major and frequently reprinted work in Dutch titled "Christian Theology after Auschwitz.'itzThe subtitle of his first tome is The History of 2000 Years of Church Anti-Semitism. The second tome—in two volumes—is subtitled The Roots of Anti-Semitism in the New Testament. Jansen, a Dutch Protestant, taught history at the Flemish Free University in Brussels (1990-2000) and since 2002, teaches at the Simon Wiesenthal Institute in the same town.....

i'm going to post on this soon...from RCC:

Nostra Aetate (Latin: In our Age) is the Declaration on the Relation of the Church with Non-Christian Religions of the Second Vatican Council. Passed by a vote of 2,221 to 88 of the assembled bishops, this declaration was promulgated on October 28, 1965, by Pope Paul VI.[1]

The first draft, entitled "Decretum de Judaeis" ("Decree on the Jews"), was completed in November 1961, approximately fourteen months after Cardinal Bea was commissioned by Pope John XXIII. This draft essentially went nowhere, never having been submitted to the Council, which opened on 11 October 1962.

"....“The criticism of the theologians, which despite their eminence got little press coverage, was very broad. They called the document, ‘the hour of misleading’ and wrote that the Kairos document did not mention the promises God had given to Israel as a people in the Hebrew Bible. The document was even totally lacking in the biblical vision of Israel as a people. They heavily criticized the signatories because they used the Bible to legitimize their political preferences and visions. The theologians said that this approach turns religion into ‘a human ideology.’ They further remarked that ‘the Kairos document is inspired by so-called new historians in the Middle East, who have for several years been re-writing the history of the 1948 events in favor of the Palestinians. These theologians referred to the document as ‘a shameless brutality....’”

what rubbish....a document is a shameless brutality.

Study of Holocaust mandated for schools
Date
December 8, 2012

THE study of the Holocaust will become compulsory for all NSW school students in years 9 and 10 after the Jewish Board of Deputies lobbied the state government for the curriculum change.

The chief executive of the board, Vic Alhadeff, confirmed he lobbied the Board of Studies and Department of Education for the change up until a month ago and commended them for the decision.

''I have been meeting with [the] Board of Studies and Department of Education for some time to discuss the notion that the Holocaust should be compulsory up to year 10,'' he said. ''Throughout our discussions, the leaders of both organisations have been extremely supportive of the principle of making Holocaust education mandatory. Our discussions have been very positive.''

Lib Dems condemn MP's criticism of Israel ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day

The Liberal Democrats have "condemned" their MP David Ward for his "use of language" in a statement about Israel's treatment of Palestinians, issued ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day.

He accused "the Jews" in Israel of "inflicting atrocities on Palestinians... on a daily basis".

Mr Ward has been summoned to a meeting with party whips next week.

But the MP told the BBC he had chosen his words carefully and did not regret the timing of the statement.

The MP said it was "regrettable" he had been reprimanded by Liberal Democrat officials

Holocaustianity Empty Israel to sue Palestinians for copyright infringement of “victim”

Israel to sue Palestinians for copyright infringement of “victim”

IMEMC News reports that the Middle East Forum, led by Daniel “Rusty” Pipes is seeking to remove the status of Palestinians as “victims.” “Only Jews have the right to be considered victims,” said Pipes. “As originators of the label, we are entitled to use it exclusively unless we license it to others, as we did after the Haitian earthquake, where Israel generously provided humanitarian aid. Would you like to see the pictures?”

Pipes and his colleagues met with Israel’s UN Ambassador, Ron Prosor, in New York on Thursday, March 7, 2013, to devise ways to end the refugee status of Palestinians. Pipes told participants in the meeting that the UN approach to the rights of Palestinian refugees “creates a narrative of victimhood” and “promotes extremism.”

Jewish leaders have hope in election of new Pope

"After praising the work of Popes John Paul and Benedict for Catholic-Jewish relations, Lauder said: "We are convinced that new pontiff will continue on this path, that he will speak out against all forms of anti-Semitism both within and without the Catholic Church, that he will take action against clerics who deny or belittle the Holocaust, and that he will strengthen the Vatican's relationship with Israel."
