The Letter to the Church in Sardis
3 “Here is what I command you to write to the church in Sardis.
Here are the words of the One who holds the seven spirits of God. He has the seven stars in his hand. He says, ‘I know what you are doing. People think you are alive, but you are dead. 2 Wake up! Strengthen what is left, or it will die. You have not done all that my God wants you to do.
3 ‘So remember what you have been taught and have heard. Obey it. Turn away from your sins. If you don’t wake up, I will come like a thief. You won’t know when I will come to you.
4 ‘But you have a few people in Sardis who have kept their clothes clean. They will walk with me, dressed in white, because they are worthy. 5 Those who overcome will also be dressed in white. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life. I will speak of them by name to my Father and his angels.
6 ‘Those who have ears should listen to what the Holy Spirit says to the churches.’

3 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
These are my thoughts please share yours.
1 Sardis was city of trade so, it would have been a very active city of the time. The church did all that was right and stayed active serving the people in need. The church served the people rather than serving God. We can be caught up in serving thru the church that we stop serving God and start serving men.
2 These people may have did things out of pride instead of love, their motives may have been wrong.
3 We need to follow after the Lord not after man. While we can often serve God thru pleasing people serving God is not always making people happy. Today we live in time where pastors are doing this from the pulpit, they like to make people happy and by doing so stay away from certain truths from the word. We will not know when Jesus comes so, we should live every day as it is our last by doing all we can to serve Him before we can not win anyone to Him anymore.
4 Today we can see those church goers who do not live for this world by their actions. We are not to live for this world but for the world the Lord will bring. We are to lay up our treasures in heaven not here on earth. Today we have pastors who make as much as those in the medical feild or in some cases more and it is a shame. The Christian walk is to be done with humilty not trying to be above to others. I have had pastors i felt who were so hard to talk to because of the way they came acrossed. Today we have those who act right to go to church on Sundays and live wrong the rest of the time. We as believers are to stand out and apart from the world we should be held to a higher standard not by man but by Christ Himself because the church reflects Him.
5 We follow Christ as the church we will be blessed but if we just play church as some have done we will not be blessed and those will be the ones that cry Lord, Lord, the ones He does not know.
6 We need to listen to the truth of the word and of the Spirit. The Spirit will never lead us against the truth in the scriptures.
