Gal 3:9-13 > The Curse of the Law

Post by Strangelove on Sat Feb 05, 2011 5:52 pm

The Mosaic law ITSELF has a curse built into it. Any man who puts himself under that law or in debt to that law for Justification's sake is under that curse:

DEUT 27:26 Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.

The law requires PERFECT obediance. Any man who upholds the law and yet doesnt do the law perfectly is CURSED. The curse is part of the law. And Paul quotes from Deuteronomy:

GAL 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

The law utterly CONDEMNS and curses anyone who lives under it.

In stark contrast to anyone who lives by faith. like faithful Abe who are BLESSED.

Gal 3:9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

I think it is important to stress that the curse
is on those who seek to justify themselves before God through the Law.

The Curse of the Law is the Penalty of the Law. That is what i believe.

Jesus removed the curse of the law from the adulterer when he saved her from
being stoned, but in doing so He was not declaring adultery acceptable. For He
said to her in the end, " go and sin no more".

I think the curse is the loss of salvation.

Following Old Covenant law as a means of justification shows a lack of faith in the power of Salvation given us in Christ.

So following laws to gain Justification brings the curse of the law onto you.

I dont think it has anything to do with punishments or penalty's of the law. It's simply a spiritual curse to those who yoke themselves to it.

Well if you think about it, if someone has always relied on doing the Law to
gain Eternity with God then they have never relied upon the salvation Via the
Atonement of the Messiah Jesus.

For such people cannot lose what they never had.

The Law is good. It is good not to murder and not to commit adultery it is good
not to steal. There is nothing inherently in the Law that is evil.

Oh 4shizzle. Like I said on the other forum.....we dont wanna push antimonianism. The moral guidelines in the Mosaic law are as relavant to Christians as they were to God's original chosen people, the jews. If you are uncertain on any moral issue it's perfectly acceptable to turn to the Torah to see what God says. Personally I cant say I've ever felt the need to do that but hey....

Ya...no one is saying the law is evil. It's just a curse for those who think that by conciously adhering to written laws they somehow add to God's grace that is wholly given to us by faith in Jesus.
