I used to go round and round with the "reverend Ted Pike" back in 95 and 96 on the phone and in letters. Our views were almost identical. But he couldn't shake the 7th day sabbath thing. That became a bone of contention so we eventually parted company. But I respect his knowledge on most things for sure.

My
relatives and my fellow Christians were murdered in the USSR under
Jewish Marxism between 1917-1945, and many of the Marxists came to
Russia from New York to do this to Christians in 1917 after Jacob
Schiff, the Jewish anti-Christian maniac banker who owned The
Guaranty National Trust, the largest bank in the Unite States,
financed Lenin and Trotsky $35 million for the Red Revolution and
the mass killing of these Christian souls. We must never forget
this.

1993, President Clinton signed Public Law 103-199, authorizing a
memorial in Washington to those who died in the "unprecedented
imperial Communist holocaust" that began in 1917. It is a memorial
long overdue. And it is well-suited to Washington, the capital of
the Free World and the headquarters of what President Kennedy called
the "long twilight struggle" against the totalitarians of the Left.
When completed, the Victims of Communism Memorial will include a
museum documenting the crimes committed by the disciples of Marx and
Lenin; original artifacts from the bitter night of Communist
brutality (a piece of the Berlin Wall, a cell from the "Hanoi
Hilton"); and a database preserving the names of those wiped out in
history's greatest slaughter. Or at least as many of those
names as can be identified. It is impossible that we shall ever know
them all. Every one of the hundreds of thousands of Cossacks
butchered on Lenin's orders in 1919? Every Miskito Indian killed in
Nicaragua under the Sandinistas? Every Chinese peasant, all 2
million-plus of them, obliterated during Mao Zedong's "land reform"
in the early 1950s? Impossible. For pure murderous evil,
there has never been a force to compare with Communism. The Nazis
didn't come close. The Holocaust was uniquely malignant - never
before or since did one people construct a vast industry of death
for the sole purpose of rounding up and destroying every single
member of another people. But the Nazis exterminated 11 million
innocents; the Communist death toll surpasses 100 million. Nazi
power lasted from 1933 to 1945. The Communist nightmare began in
November 1917, and continues to this day. Savagery has
always been a hallmark of Communism. It is an ideology that requires
the destruction of human beings. "We have never rejected terror in
principle," wrote Lenin in 1901, "nor can we do so." Half a
century later, even as he denounced the extremes to which his
predecessors went, Nikita Khrushchev vowed that the terror so
esteemed by Lenin would go on. "The questioning of Stalin's terror,"
he cautioned the Twentieth Party Congress in 1956, "may lead to the
questioning of terror in general. But Bolshevism believes in the use
of terror." Not long afterward, Khrushchev sent 3,000 Soviet tanks
to crush the Hungarian freedom fighters. Communism equals murder. Everywhere. Always. In
Ukraine, for example, where 7 million people were starved to death
on the Kremlin's orders. "If you go now to the Ukraine or the North
Caucuses," wrote British journalist Malcolm Muggeridge in 1933,
"exceedingly beautiful countries and formerly amongst the most
fertile in the world, you will find them like a desert; . . . no
livestock or horses; villages deserted; peasants famished, often
their bodies swollen, unutterably wretched." Farmers who took grain
or vegetables from their own land were shot. Dead bodies littered
the streets of Kharkov, the capital. "It was," an eyewitness later
recalled, "as if the Black Death had passed through." Communism
equaled murder in Ethiopia, where Mengistu Haile Mariam became
dictator in 1977 and embarked on what he called his "Red Terror."
Tens of thousands were massacred, including the graduating seniors
of almost every high school in Addis Ababa. Communism equaled
murder in North Vietnam as far back as 1945, when Ho Chi Minh
resolved to annihilate his Nationalist rivals. "It was appalling,"
recorded the historian Lucien Bodard. "Thousands, maybe tens of
thousands of men had been liquidated . . .. The intention was that
horror and dread should extinguish the last trace of respect for
them among the masses: Their execution had to be both shameful and
terrifying. That was the reason for the mass executions of hundreds
at once, the fields of prisoners buried alive, the harrows dragged
over men buried up to the neck." Communism equaled murder in
Tibet, where Mao's campaign to extirpate Buddhist culture turned 1.2
million Tibetans into corpses. It equaled murder in gentle
Cambodia, where the bloodlust of the Khmer Rouge vaporized one-third
of the nation in less than four years. It equaled murder in Cuba,
in East Germany, in Afghanistan. From Stettin in the Baltic to
Trieste in the Adriatic - murder. In the Gulag and the laogai -
murder. At Tienanmen Square - murder. In the Korean War and the
Vietnam War, in the forest of Katyn and the dungeons of the Lubyanka
- murder. One hundred million victims of Communism. And those
are only the victims who were slain. It doesn't include those who
were maimed or driven mad. Those whose lives went dark when a loved
one was butchered. Those who spun out their years in potato queues,
in vodka stupors, in daily fear. It doesn't include those who wasted
30 years as slaves in Siberia. The boat people who flung themselves
into the South China Sea. The stifled poets, the gagged priests,
the tormented refuseniks, the exiled democrats. Rarely do
we think of them, or of the hundred million. We forget how

immediately implemented their revolutionary program - land to the
peasants, an eight-hour day for the workers, and peace from the
bloody slaughter of WWI. Equality of all nationalities was
proclaimed. Many Russian Jews, including my great-grandparents, had
earlier fled the Russian empire where they were forbidden to own
land, pursue professions or live in cities, and were victims of the
Russian version of the Ku Klux Klan. After the revolution, all legal
restrictions were abolished, and the first Soviet President was a

JEWS IN THE RED REVOLUTION IN RUSSIA From

He referred to the starving Jews, and while he did not feel at
liberty to grant them the full rights enjoyed by other subjects
without the concurrence of the douma, he has relieved them from the
most severe of the restrictions under which they have been
suffering, and now they can go about Russia with an ordinary
passport. They may engage in any business, but are not yet allowed
to buy land outside of the pale of settlement. Jewish children are
now admitted to all the schools and universities of Russia without
condition. The members of that race are now enjoying nearly all the
liberties of those of other races and religions, except that there
has been no change in passport regulations, which has been promised
from year to year. Foreign Jews are still compelled to explain the
object of their visit before they are permitted to pass the
boundary. Mr. Stolypin will undoubtedly remove that humiliation in
due time. THE VENGEANCE OF THE JEWS
Perhaps these reforms are the cause of the present tranquillity,
because the revolutionary leaders nearly all belong to the Jewish
race and the most effective revolutionary agency is the Jewish Bund,
which has its headquarters at Bialystok, where the massacre
occurred last June. The government has suffered more from that race
than from all of its other subjects combined. Whenever a desperate
deed is committed it is always done by a Jew and there is scarcely
one loyal member of that race in the entire Empire. The great strike
which paralyzed the Empire and compelled the Czar to grant a
constitution and a parliament was ordered and managed by a Jew named
Krustaleff, president of the workingmen's council, a young man only
thirty years old. He was sent to the penitentiary for life, and had
not been behind the bars more than three weeks when he organized
and conducted a successful strike of the prison employees. Maxim,
who organized and conducted the revolution in the Baltic provinces,
is a Jew of marvelous ability. Last fall he came over here lecturing
and collecting money to carry on the revolutionary campaign, but
for some reason has vanished and nobody seems to know what has
become of him. Gerschunin, the most resourceful leader of the
terrorists, who was condemned to life imprisonment in the silver
mines on the Mongolian frontier, has recently escaped in a water
cask, and is supposed to be in San Francisco. He is a Polish Jew
only twenty-seven years old. I might enumerate a hundred other
revolutionary leaders and every one of them would be a Jew. Wherever
you read of an assassination or of the explosion of a bomb you will
notice in the newspaper dispatches that the man was a Jew. The most
sensational and dramatic episode that has occurred since the
mutinies was on October 27, when, in the very center of Saint
Petersburg, at the entrance of Kazan Cathedral, four Jews held up a
treasury wagon and captured $270,000. They passed the package to a
woman, who instantly vanished, and no trace of her has ever been
found; but they were all arrested and were promptly punished. On the
8th of November a few Jewish revolutionaries entered a treasury car
near Ragow, in Poland, got $850,000, and disappeared. Every deed of
that kind is done by Jews, and the massacres that have shocked the
universe, and occurred so frequently that the name "pogrom" was
invented to describe them, were organized and managed by the
exasperated police authorities in retaliation for crimes committed
by the Jewish revolutionists. MANY REFORMS ALREADY INSTITUTED BY PREMIER STOLYPIN
But Mr. Stolypin has evidently arranged a truce. He has crushed out
the conspirators in the police department who organized and
directed the "pograms" [sic.-KAS] and has given the Jews more
liberty and more justice than they ever enjoyed before. He has
appointed a commission to prepare a law placing them upon the same
footing as Protestants, Roman Catholics, and members of other
religious faiths. Mr. Stolypin is an able, honest, and grave man, of
broad horizon and liberal views and a high sense of justice. He has
already done wonders. Every week some important reform is ordered,

Red Terror was partly a reaction to the greater horrors of the
anti-Bolshevik terror in which 23,000 Reds were killed in Finland
and 100,000 Jews were murdered in the Ukraine. Nevertheless Lenin
repeatedly advocated terror even before the attempt on his life in
September 1918. For example during one anti-Bolshevik revolt he told
the authorities to organise "mass terror, shoot and deport the
hundreds of prostitutes who are making drunkards of the soldiers." Such
attitudes enabled the Cheka to acquire widespread powers with
virtually no external controls. By the end of the war its head,
Dzerzhinsky, was able to say that "the prisons are packed chiefly
with workers and peasants instead of the bourgeoisie", and one of
his chief lieutenants, Latsis, wrote that: "there is no sphere of
life exempt from Cheka coverage." Lenin himself said that "during
the war - anybody who placed his own interest above the common
interests ... was shot.... we could not emerge from the old society
without resorting to compulsion as far as the backward section of
the proletariat was concerned." Estimates of the numbers
executed include 50,000 and 140,000 and George Leggett lists many
unsubstantiated accusations of torture. Victor Serge later
claimed that "during the civil war there was perfect order behind
the front itself.... There was nothing to prevent the functioning of
regular courts." But most of those killed never had a trial and one
Cheka member recalled that "our Red detachments would 'clean up'
villages exactly the way the Whites did. What was left of the
inhabitants, old men, women, children, were machine-gunned for
having given assistance to the enemy." 30 The Bolshevik
leadership sometimes clearly encouraged brutality. For instance, as
the Whites threatened Petrograd, Lenin asked Trotsky: "Is it
impossible to mobilise another 2,000 Petrograd workers plus 10,000
members of the bourgeoisie, set up cannons behind them, shoot a few
hundred of them and obtain a real mass impact on Yudenich?" Trotsky
thankfully disregarded this but the Bolsheviks did use terror
against whole groups of people such as the Cossacks or the Tambov
peasants. The Tambov rebellion of 1920-21 was extremely brutal and
the Red Army crushed the uprising with the burning of villages and
mass executions. One government order demanded that peasants should
be shot simply for "giving shelter to members of a 'bandit's'
family". The Terror encouraged many anarchists to join Nestor
Makhno's peasant movement in the Ukraine. This movement was much
more popular than the Bolsheviks in some areas so the Red Army made
three successful alliances with him against the Whites. In these
areas only 'working people' could stand for soviet elections, not
Bolsheviks or SRs, but there were no restrictions on their press
provided they did not advocate an armed uprising. However in the
summer of 1919 the Bolsheviks executed several of Makhno's officers
and tried to ban the Makhnovist peasant congresses. From then on the
two sides fought fiercely whenever the White threat diminished. Both
sides shot prisoners but Makhno's army tended to restrict executions
to those in authority whereas the Bolsheviks shot many rank-and-file

many prisons had education facilities. However concentration camps
were set up from July 1918 and mortality reached 30% in those in the
north. Leggett says they were sometimes cleared by mass executions.

The Genocide at Vinnitsa by Dr. William Pierce National Alliance Chairman In His Speech Given On Radio On June 20, 1998 We
spoke a few weeks ago about the mass murder of the leadership
stratum of the Polish nation by the Soviet secret police in the
Katyn Forest in April 1940. We discussed that genocidal atrocity in
the light of the ongoing Jewish campaign to portray Jews as the
principal victims of the Second World War and to collect reparations
from the rest of the world today. A good deal of interest in that
broadcast was expressed by listeners, many of whom had not been
acquainted previously with the facts of the Katyn atrocity. Today I
will explore this general subject further. I will tell you about the
fate of the Ukrainian nation at the hands of the Soviet secret
police. In 1943 Germany was at war against the Soviet Union.
Twenty-five years earlier, at the end of the First World War, when
communist revolutionaries were attempting to take over Germany,
Adolf Hitler had sworn to devote his life to fighting communism. He
was only a corporal at the time, recuperating from his war wounds in
a military hospital, but 15 years later, in 1933, he became
chancellor of Germany, and in 1941 his army invaded the Soviet Union
with the aim of destroying Soviet communism. The German Army pushed
far into the Soviet empire and liberated all of Ukraine from the
communists. In May 1943 units of the German Army were
stationed in the Ukrainian city of Vinnitsa, a community of 100,000
persons in a primarily agricultural district. Ukrainian officials in
Vinnitsa told the Germans that five years earlier the NKVD -- the
Soviet secret police, very similar to our FBI -- had buried the
bodies of a number of executed political prisoners in a city park.
The Germans investigated, and within a month they had dug up 9439
corpses from a number of mass graves in the park and a nearby
orchard. Unlike the Poles murdered in the Katyn Forest, all of
these bodies found at Vinnitsa were those of civilians, most of
them Ukrainian farmers or workers. The bodies of the men all had
their hands tied behind their backs, like the Polish officers at
Katyn. Although the men's bodies were clothed, the bodies of a
number of young women were naked. All of the victims had been shot
in the back of the neck with a .22 caliber pistol, the trademark of
the NKVD executioners. The Germans called in an
international team of forensic pathologists to examine the bodies
and the mass graves. The international team, which included
pathologists from Belgium, France, Netherlands, and Sweden, as well
as from several countries allied with Germany, examined 95 mass
graves and conducted a number of autopsies. Including the
autopsies already performed by Ukrainian medical personnel in
Vinnitsa, 1670 of the corpses were examined in detail. The
identities of 679 of them were established either through documents
found in their clothes or through recognition by relatives, who
flocked to Vinnitsa from the surrounding countryside when they heard
that the graves had been uncovered. The authorities estimated
that in addition to the 9439 bodies exhumed, there were another
3,000 still in unopened mass graves in the same area. The
international team concluded that all of the victims had been killed
about five years earlier -- that is, in 1938. Relatives of the
victims who were identified all testified that the victims had been
arrested by the NKVD in 1937 and 1938. The relatives had been told
that those arrested were "enemies of the people" and would be sent
to Siberia for 10 years. None of the relatives had any idea what the
reason was for the arrests and testified that those arrested had
committed no crimes and were engaged in no political activity. As I
said earlier, nearly all of the victims were farmers or workers,
although there were a few priests and civil servants among them. By
interviewing a large number of people who had some knowledge of
what had happened in Vinnitsa and the surrounding region in 1938,
the Germans were able to piece together the following picture. In
1937 and 1938 gangs of the NKVD's jackbooted thugs roamed the
villages and towns of Ukraine, arresting people in a pattern that
seemed almost random to observers. One victim's wife reported that
as the NKVD goons dragged her husband away they said only, "Hey, you
dog! You've lived too long." Other observers thought they saw a
pattern. A Ukrainian who was renting a part of his house to a Jewish
lawyer refused to sell the whole house to the Jew when he offered to
buy it at an unreasonably low price. A few weeks later the Ukrainian
homeowner was arrested by the NKVD. Another Ukrainian who had
threatened to beat up a minor communist functionary who made a crude
pass at his sister was arrested shortly thereafter. It seemed that
many of the arrests were the settling of personal scores and that
anyone who had crossed a Jew was especially likely to be arrested. All
of this was nothing new for Ukrainians. They had borne the brunt of
the communization the Soviet Union for nearly two decades. Ukraine
was primarily an agricultural nation, a nation of farmers and
villagers, and as such was regarded with suspicion by the Jews and
the urban rabble who filled the ranks of the Communist Party. The
communists championed the urban workers, but they wasted no love on
farmers and villagers, who tended to be too independent and
self-sufficient for communist tastes. During the civil war
which followed the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, the Ukrainians
wanted to opt out. Ukrainian nationalists wanted no part of the
Soviet Union. In 1921 and 1922 the Red Army occupied Vinnitsa, and
Ukrainians were butchered wholesale by the Reds in order to kill the
Ukrainian nationalist spirit. The craving for Ukrainian
independence nevertheless kept flaring up, and further massacres
followed, notably in 1928. Ukraine was the stronghold of the
kulaks, the independent farmers and small landowners, always
regarded with special hatred by the communist bosses. Stalin gave
the job of exterminating the kulaks to his right-hand man in the
Kremlin, Lazar Moiseivich Kaganovich, known later as the "Butcher of
Ukraine." Kaganovich, the most powerful Jew in the Soviet Union,
supervised the collectivization of Ukrainian farms, beginning in
1929. To break the spirit of the kulaks, the Ukraine was subjected
to an artificial famine. The NKVD and Red Army troops went from farm
to farm, confiscating crops and livestock. The farmers were told
that the food was needed for the workers in the cities. None was
left for the farmers. And in 1933 and 1934 seven million Ukrainians
died of starvation, while Kaganovich watched and gloated from the
Kremlin. Perhaps in 1937 and 1938 the bosses in the Kremlin
simply thought that it was time to apply the lash to the Ukrainians
again. In any event, the NKVD was given the task this time. The NKVD
was even more Jewish than the rest of the Soviet communist
apparatus. The commissar of the NKVD until September 1936 had been
the Jew Genrikh Yagoda, and he had staffed his instrument of terror
and repression with Jews at every level. And those who were not Jews
were the worst sort of Russian and Ukrainian rabble, the resentful
louts and ne'er-do-wells who saw in communism a way to get even with
their betters. In any event, the Ukrainians were fully aware of the
preponderance of Jews in the secret police, and they suspected that
there was a Jewish angle to the pattern of arrests in 1937 and
1938. And indeed, it did seem as if the Talmudic injunction to "kill
the best of the Gentiles" were being followed, for those who were
arrested seemed to be the most solid, the steadiest, the most
reliable and irreproachable of the Ukrainians. Thirty thousand
were arrested in the Vinnitsa region alone, and most of these
eventually were sent to the NKVD prison in the city of Vinnitsa.
This prison had a normal capacity of 2,000 prisoners, but during
1937 and 1938 it was packed most of the time with more than 18,000
prisoners. Throughout much of 1938 a few dozen prisoners were taken
from the prison each night and driven to a nearby NKVD motor pool
area. There their hands were tied behind their backs and they were
led, one at a time, a few hundred feet to a concrete slab in front
of a garage. The slab was used for washing vehicles, and it had a
drain at one side with an iron grating over it. Just as the
prisoners reached the edge of the slab they were shot in the back of
the neck, so that when they fell onto the concrete their blood would
run into the drain. This was what the NKVD men jokingly called
"mokrii rabota" -- "wet work" -- and they had had plenty of
experience at "wet work." A truck parked next to the slab kept its
engine racing so that the noise of the engine would cover the sound
of the shots. While the next prisoner was being led up, a couple of
NKVD men would throw the corpse of the previous prisoner into the
truck. When the night's quota of victims had been murdered the truck
would drive off with its load of corpses to the fenced-in park or to
the nearby orchard, where new graves already were waiting. And this
"wet work" went on night after night, month after month. So
why is this gruesome story important to us now? After all, this
massacre of Ukrainians in Vinnitsa took place 60 years ago. I'll
tell you why it's still important to us, aside from the fact that
these Ukrainians were our people, our kinfolk, part of our race. First,
you might ask yourself why you have never before heard about
Vinnitsa, and I'm sure that's the case for about 99 per cent of our
listeners. Of course, Alexander Solzhenitsyn wrote about what
happened at Vinnitsa, in the third volume of his Gulag Archipelago,
but you're not likely to find that in the rack at the checkout
counter. And Ukrainians and Germans have written about it, although
for the most part their writings have never been published in
English, because publishers in this country understand that it would
be Politically Incorrect to publish anything about Vinnitsa. Much
better that people just forget about it. Isn't that odd,
though, when we continually hear so much about Auschwitz? Isn't it
odd that when Jewish groups are using their political influence to
have laws passed in a number of states requiring high school
students to take courses about the so-called "Holocaust," what
happened at Katyn or at Vinnitsa is never mentioned in high school?
The excuse given for requiring students to study the so-called
"Holocaust" is that it was the greatest crime in history, and we
should know about it so that we won't repeat it. But then why
shouldn't we learn about Katyn and Vinnitsa and Dresden and a
thousand other atrocities where our people were the victims, and so
the lesson should be even more pertinent for us? You know, I'm
not trying to be cute about this. We all know the answers to these
questions, but I just want you to think about their significance. To
them, Auschwitz is important because Jews died there, and Vinnitsa
is not important, because only Gentiles were killed there. The
Jewish media bosses keep rubbing our noses in Auschwitz, because
they want us to feel guilty, they want us to feel that we owe the
Jews something for letting it happen. The Jewish media bosses never
mention Vinnitsa because Jews were the guilty ones there. Besides,
they make a lot of money by promoting the "Holocaust." It's
certainly not going to help their profits to divide the attention
and the sympathy of the American public between Auschwitz and
Vinnitsa. And it's certainly not going to help their effort to
extort billions of dollars in "Holocaust" reparations from the Swiss
and from everyone else to admit their own guilt at Katyn and
Vinnitsa. Think about it! If Poles controlled the news and
entertainment media in America, we'd hear a great deal more about
Katyn, I suspect. If Germans controlled our media we'd hear much
more about the terror bombing of Dresden. And if Ukrainians
controlled our media, every high school student would know about
Vinnitsa. But it's the Jews who control our media, and so all we
hear about is Auschwitz: never even a whisper about Vinnitsa. That's
important. We ought to be concerned about that. We ought to be
concerned whenever any part of our history is suppressed, is hidden
from us. We ought to find out why. It might help us to make sure
that what happened to us at Vinnitsa never happens to us again. I'm
sure that you've all heard the maxim that the best defense is a
strong offense. Do you remember the persecution all through the
1980s of John Demjanjuk, the retired Cleveland auto worker whom the
Jews accused of being "Ivan the Terrible"? John Demjanjuk is a
Ukrainian who came to America after the Second World War. In 1978
the Jews made a big hullabaloo about Demjanjuk being a guard in a
German prison camp during the war, and the U.S. government
obediently hauled him to court and stripped him of his citizenship.
Then he was handed over to the Jews for crucifixion and deported to
Israel. The mass media in America were full of sensational stories
for 15 years about Ivan the Terrible and how the Ukrainians had
helped the Germans persecute the poor, innocent Jews. Unfortunately,
this strategy worked for the Jews. The Ukrainians kept their heads
down instead of raising the issue of Vinnitsa. Of course, even if
they had begun trying to tell Americans about Vinnitsa or about what
Kaganovich had done to the Ukrainian kulaks, who would have heard
them? Ukrainians don't own the New York Times, the Washington Post,
the Wall Street Journal, Time magazine, Newsweek magazine, or U.S.
News & World Report. The Jews own all of those media. And the
Ukrainians don't own Hollywood, so they can't make movie dramas
about Vinnitsa either, like Steven Spielberg does about the
so-called "Holocaust." The crux of this matter is that the
Jews have been getting away with presenting a grossly distorted
version of history to us, a version in which they are the completely
innocent victims, and our people, the Ukrainians and Poles and
Germans are the bad guys who have been persecuting the poor Jews for
no reason at all. They've been pumping out this propaganda in
concert, consciously and deliberately, without a single major medium
under their control deviating from their party line. And people try
to tell me that, well, the Jews may control the media, but they
don't conspire with each other. Baloney! And because
they've been getting away with giving us a falsified version of
history, they've been able to change America's foreign and domestic
policies in directions to suit themselves, to our enormous
disadvantage. Everything which has happened in the Middle East, for
example, since the Second World War is based on this false history. More
than that, everything that has happened in Europe since the murder
of 12,000 Ukrainians at Vinnitsa in 1938 has been based on the Jews'
power to control what we learn about our history, about what is
happening and has happened in the world around us. The U.S.
government allied itself with the Soviet government in 1941 for the
purpose of destroying Germany. The communists were presented to the
American public as the good guys, as worthy allies, and the Germans
were presented as the bad guys. And the American public bought that
lie because they didn't know about Vinnitsa or about a thousand
other atrocities committed against our people by the communists.
When the Germans brought in the international commission to examine
the graves in Vinnitsa in 1943, the Jew-controlled media kept the
news from the American people, just the way they kept the news about
the Katyn Forest genocide away from the American people. And because
of this, there was no real opposition to turning half of Europe over
to the communists at the end of the Second World War. If Katyn and
Vinnitsa had been publicized, so that every American voter knew in
detail what the NKVD had done at Katyn and at Vinnitsa, the
politicians in Washington never would have been able to get away
with turning the Poles and the Hungarians and the Rumanians and the
Bulgarians and the Croats and the Serbs and the Czechs and the
Slovaks and the Baltic peoples and all of the Germans in the eastern
part of Germany over to these communist butchers. The politicians in
Washington got away with this not just because they were in the
pockets of the Jews, but because the American people weren't given
the truth. And because we weren't given the truth millions more of
our people died at the hands of the NKVD after the war, and all of
eastern Europe was plundered by the communists for 50 years, and
there was a Korean War and a Vietnam War -- which there wouldn't
have been if we hadn't kept the communist empire alive because of
our own ignorance, because of the lies we'd been told about what
happened in Europe. We lost more than 100,000 of our best young men
in the Korean and Vietnam wars alone. So you see, it is
important what the public is told. It is important that our people
know the truth about our history, even about things which happened
60 years ago. And I intend to do everything I can to give them the
truth. Now I believe that you can understand why the Jews try
so hard to keep me off the air, why they bring pressure against
every radio station which carries American Dissident Voices. They
are desperate to keep the American people in the dark about Vinnitsa
and Katyn and their other crimes. And I am determined to tear down
the curtain of silence and darkness and give truth and light to our
people. And there is some urgency about this, because the Jews
are continuing to push for laws against what they call "hate
speech" -- which means any speech which contradicts their lies. They
have succeeded in getting such laws passed in other countries. If I
tried to make this broadcast in Canada or Britain, for example, the
police would arrest me and shut down the station before I could
finish. Let's not let that happen in America.
Jews, Communism, and The Job of Killing Off the Christians Soviet-Zionist-Jewry in Historical Perspectives, Smalls Crane Co., pp. 29-31 In
the Soviet Union, the communist party, run mostly for the benefit
of its Jewish founders who made up approximately 90% of the founding
fathers and administrators of the Soviet Union, hid behind their
leftist doctrine which had been designed to undermine Christianity
in the name of materialism and social science. These administrators
of the Soviet Union who were detailed in reports to the U.S. State
Department from Russia in 1919 were instrumental in instructing
their cohorts to send out Jewish commissars like Kaganovitch and
Beria to kill approximately 100 million White European Christians
whom they called "reactionary bourgeoisie" for correctness in
1920-1940. What they meant by "bourgeoisie" were Russia's
Christians. In addition to killing the Christian peasants under the
materialist aegis of communism, the churches and parochial schools
were confiscated or burned as were their Christian towns; the
priests were either murdered or sent to prisons, and all vestiges of
Christianity were as nearly as possible expunged. Once the
Christians in an entire area were killed, the Jews brought in new
non-Christians, atheists, who were relocated there to re-establish
the economic exploitation of the emptied lands in agricultural
communes similar to the kibbutzim programs in Israel which were
begun at the same time. At this point in history, the Jews and
Zionists in power declared anti-Semitism to be a capital crime,
because the Christians who were being killed by these communist Jews
in Russia had developed groups to protect themselves and were
critical of the Jewish excesses in the matter of their own genocide
with whom they naturally refused to cooperate without fighting for
their very lives. The accusation of anti-Semitism in Russia became a
mandatory death sentence to any Christian fighting against the
Jewish oppression of Christianity in the Soviet Union, especially if
these Christians even identified the names of the many thousands of
Jews in control of their anti-Christian extermination policy. The
Jewish-led anti-Christian genocide in Russia was basically a totally
Jewish-run and definitely anti-Christian Affair using communism and
anti-reactionary programs as the ideological communist "cover" for
wiping out Christianity. The Jews basically ran the Russian
government and hid behind its skirts as they carried out their
murders across the Russian Continent. It was never reported in the
United States, because the media was controlled mostly by Jewish
owners who were uninterested in exposing Americans to an atrocity by
Jews. Only Henry Ford, who own his own newspaper, got the word out,
and he was severely criticized as being anti-Semitic for his
honesty in exposing this matter of Christian genocide by the Jews.
In China, more than 80 million oriental peasants were killed by the
Chinese Communist Party which learned from the Russians how to run a
revolution. Especially sought out for instant extermination during
The Big March and beyond were those peasants who were Christians,
Buddhists, or Islamics and anyone else associated with a religion or
philosophy or God concept who were non-materialistic in thought.
Like Russian Liberals, the Chinese communists did not want "other
leaders" and "other systems" teaching their people. Religion in
China, as in Russia, was called the "opiate of the people" and, as
in Russia, this was used to justify the mass murder of priests,
devotees, and other adherents of non-communist religions. Today in
China, Christians are still being mistreated, and many churches are
inundating the west coast of the United States with Chinese
Christian refugees desperate to escape the on-going anti-Christian
purges. The great international conspiracies of communism,
socialism, liberalism, Masonry, and Zionism were always
interconnected and have created all of our world wars, cold wars,
economic depressions, and divisive genocidal conduct throughout the
world, mainly because their conspirators who have created these
agencies of death carried an anti-Christian agenda which was hidden

Britain's socialist government cleared the way for a gaudy show
trial of that Great Satan of the left, Chile's Gen. Augusto
Pinochet, the 65th anniversary of this century's bloodiest crime was
utterly ignored. Leftists now baying for Pinochet's head don't want
to be reminded of the Unknown Holocaust. In 1932, Soviet
leader Josef Stalin unleashed genocide in Ukraine. Stalin determined
to force Ukraine's millions of independent farmers - called kulaks -
into collectivized Soviet agriculture, and to crush Ukraine's
growing spirit of nationalism. Faced by resistance to
collectivization, Stalin unleashed terror and dispatched 25,000
fanatical young party militants from Moscow - earlier versions of
Mao's Red Guards - to force 10 million Ukrainian peasants into
collective farms. Secret police units of OGPU began selective
executions of recalcitrant farmers. When Stalin's red guards failed to make a dent in this immense number, OGPU was ordered to begin mass executions. But
there were simply not enough Chekists (secret police) to kill so
many people, so Stalin decided to replace bullets with a much
cheaper medium of death - mass starvation. All seed stocks,
grain, silage and farm animals were confiscated from Ukraine's
farms. (Ethiopia's Communist dictator Mengistu Haile Mariam used the
same method in the 1970s to force collectivization: the resulting
famine cased one million deaths.) OGPU agents and Red Army
troops sealed all roads and rail lines. Nothing came in or out of
Ukraine. Farms were searched and looted of food and fuel. Ukrainians
quickly began to die of hunger, cold and sickness. When
OGPU failed to meet weekly execution quotas, Stalin sent henchman
Lazar Kaganovitch to destroy Ukrainian resistance. Kaganovitch, the
Soviet Eichmann, made quota, shooting 10,000 Ukrainians weekly.
Eighty percent of all Ukrainian intellectuals were executed. A
Ukrainian party member named Nikita Khruschchev helped supervise the
slaughter. During the bitter winter of 1932-33, mass
starvation created by Kaganovitch and OGPU hit full force.
Ukrainians ate their pets, boots and belts, plus bark and roots.
Some parents even ate infant children. The precise number
of Ukrainians murdered by Stalin's custom-made famine and Cheka
firing squads remains unknown to this day. The KGB's archives, and
recent work by Russian historians, show at least seven million died.
Ukrainian historians put the figure at nine million, or higher.
Twenty-five percent of Ukraine's population was exterminated.
Millions of victims Six million other farmers across the USSR
were starved or shot during collectivization. Stalin told Winston
Churchill he liquidated 10 million peasants during the 1930s. Add
mass executions by the Cheka in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania; the
genocide of three million Muslims in the USSR; massacres of Cossacks
and Volga Germans and Soviet industrial genocide accounted for at
least 40 million victims, not including 20 million war dead.
Kaganovitch and many senior OGPU officers (later, NKVD) were Jewish.
The predominance of Jews among Bolshevik leaders, and the frightful
crimes and cruelty inflicted by Stalin's Cheka on Ukraine, the
Baltic states and Poland, led the victims of Red Terror to blame the
Jewish people for both communism and their suffering. As a direct
result, during the subsequent Nazi occupation of Eastern Europe, the
region's innocent Jews became the target of ferocious revenge by
Ukrainians, Balts and Poles. While the world is by now
fully aware of the destruction of Europe's Jews by the Nazis, the
story of the numerically larger holocaust in Ukraine has been
suppressed, or ignored. Ukraine's genocide occurred 8-9 years before
Hitler began the Jewish Holocaust, and was committed, unlike Nazi
crimes, before the world's gaze. But Stalin's murder of millions was
simply denied, or concealed by a left-wing conspiracy of silence
that continues to this day. In the strange moral geometry of mass
murder, only Nazis are guilty. Socialist luminaries like Bernard
Shaw, Beatrice and Sidney Webb and PM Edouard Herriot of France,
toured Ukraine during 1932-33 and proclaimed reports of famine were
false. Shaw announced: "I did not see one under-nourished person in
Russia." New York Times correspondent Walter Duranty, who won a
Pulitzer Prize for his Russian reporting, wrote claims of famine
were "malignant propaganda." Seven million people were dying around
them, yet these fools saw nothing. The New York Times has never
repudiated Duranty's lies. Modern leftists do not care to
be reminded their ideological and historical roots are entwined with
this century's greatest crime - the inevitable result of enforced
social engineering and Marxist theology. Western
historians delicately skirt the sordid fact that the governments of
Britain, the U.S. and Canada were fully aware of the Ukrainian
genocide and Stalin's other monstrous crimes. Yet they eagerly
welcomed him as an ally during World War II. Stalin, who Franklin
Roosevelt called "Uncle Joe," murdered four times more people than
Adolf Hitler. None of the Soviet mass murderers who committed
genocide were ever brought to justice. Lazar Kaganovitch died
peacefully in Moscow a few years ago, still wearing his Order of the
Soviet Union, and enjoying a generous state pension.

Christian News is a Lutheran/Missouri Synod publication and quite
respectable and conservative. For one, it does not run any ads,
which means it is not financially beholden, as are so many other
so-called "Christian" publications who dance to the tune of the
piper. The latest issue, dated November 23, 1998, page 14, has
a very interesting semi-book review of sorts. It is titled The
Russian/Marxist Holocaust, and is written by Dr. Albert Jabs, Chair
of the Chair Department of Multidisciplinary Studies, at Shaw
University, Raleigh, NC. I bring it here in full, with a cautionary
note that the last paragraph is very slightly modified since there
seems to have been a typographical shift (two lines seems to have
been reversed) which I fixed as best as I could. (My guessing at the
sentence structure is of no significance to the article itself). Here is what Dr. Jabs wrote: The
war to end all wars - World War I - did not end the war against
people. After the Great War stopped and people danced and cried with
joy, a greater war, against civilians, began in the new Soviet
Union. According to recent research by R. J. Rummel
(University of Hawaii) Lenin unleashed a chilling carnage, which
continued through Stalin and others right up to 1987 that resulted
in the death of approximately 95.2 million (Lethal Politics). In
other words, according to Rummel, ***more lives were lost in Marxist
countries, like the Soviet Union, than had been lost in both World
Wars - and this genocide or democide was done by government against
their own people.*** (emphasis added) Rummel has done
massive research in genocide and mass murder among nations, and
while in teaching World War I and World War II history, I have
noticed that some historians are quick to raise the red flag when
discussing the Red Scare period after World War I and the McCarthy
era after World War II. The paradox is that many historians simply
omit Marxist countries, in regard to murders of their own citizens.
This culpable omission may be that history is written by left wing
historians who may themselves have flirted with the idea that
utopian Marxism has something to contribute. I have heard
professors speak glibly about Marxism in my trip to the former
Soviet Union, with democide on their own people and others (. . . a
verb missing here?) to such an extent that their lives were so much
disposable chemicals. Marxism, in the minds of many who
suffered under its totalitarianism, saw it as being worse than
Hitler's national socialism, which was bad enough. The Marxism of
the early Civil War period (1917) through collectivization, the
Ukraine starvation period, the Terror before World War II, and the
Terror after World War II and the other historical periods are there
for the reader to see. In view of the devastations, it is
difficult to understand how the U.S. and FDR, and England, and
Churchill, could have been so duped by arch criminal, "Uncle Joe
Stalin", as Roosevelt referred to him, and establish communist
hegemony in the heart of Europe. At one time much of what has been
stated would be considered to be right wing, but the facts of Rummel
are unassailable. Russia at the present time needs to be fed by the
US and other nations. For humanitarian reasons, people should be
helped, but it would be valuable, even with Russia's nuclear
missiles, to know something of its horrific history. World
War I ended yesterday, 80 years ago, but a greater war against
civilians now began. I heard (my father) say that the Russian people
were essentially like people everywhere. Yet, the intellectuals
like John Reed thought heaven was around the corner; it was, but it

it not time that the world be informed? And is it not time that the
world understood why Third Reich Germany threw an entire generation

today there would not be a Europe, had Germany not fought that war!

A
charismatic religious Jewish group is in an international legal battle
against the Russian Federation, literally fighting for its spiritual
soul. At stake is the right to possess the precious archive and library
of the orthodox Jewish group known as Chabad.
The books and papers were plundered and fell from the movement’s
control in Europe during the war-torn decades of the last century. The
story of how Russia came to control the historic collections is nothing
less than a chronicle of the mystical Lubavitch Jews of Poland and
Russia during the tempestuous events of Czarist repression, the
Bolshevik Revolution, World Wars I and II, the Cold War period, the
disintegration of the Soviet Union and the rise of the modern Russian
Federation. The story of Chabad’s efforts to reclaim their papers is a
bitter saga spanning all those periods.
Remarkably, Chabad has achieved a stunning legal victory—for now,
thanks to the persistent efforts of a legal team headed by the
Washington law firm of Lewin and Lewin, LLP. Known for championing
Jewish causes— Nathan Lewin and Alyza Lewin -- sometimes called
“attorneys for the Tribe,” worked together with attorneys from Howrey
LLP and Bingham McCutchen LLP to obtained a rare federal court decision
commanding Russia to preserve the books and documents and instructing
Russia to provide the Court with a written description of the steps it
is taking to preserve the books and manuscripts. The Court issued
the unusual order after Chabad submitted evidence showing that 12
extremely valuable and sacred handwritten documents written by the Third
Lubavitcher Rebbe were removed from the Russian Military Archive and
transported to Jerusalem -- possibly for sale to collectors of Judaica.
But few in the case are confident. Pyrrhic victories in this case have
been piling up for almost a century.
The disputed collection goes back to the Jewish movement’s origin in
the 18th Century when the first “Lubavitcher Rebbe” emerged. The first
Lubavitch Rebbe, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, attracted followers in
the much-disputed Eastern European regions, now known in the main as
Poland and Russia. Six successor Rebbes have continued his philosophy
and spiritual devotions, stressing mind over emotion. Their collected
wisdom is largely enshrined in 381 manuscripts, 12,000 rare books and
25,000 handwritten archival documents at heart of the dispute. The
Lubavitch group is now represented by the Hassidic organization known as
Agudas Chasidei Chabad. Chabad argues that these collections represent
“the most central wisdom, comprehension and knowledge” of the Lubavitch
Rebbes, or spiritual leaders. Without those documents, Chabad is without
its spiritual soul. Indeed, the word “Chabad” itself is an acronym for
the Hebrew words for “central wisdom, comprehension and knowledge.”
The story begins in 1915, during World War I, when the advancing
German army was approaching Lubavitch in Russia. Rabbi Shalom Dov Baer
(the “Fifth Rebbe”) fled with his family and followers, taking with him
as many of the key books and manuscripts as he could carry. He sent the
balance of the books for safe keeping in storerooms belonging to the
Persits family in Moscow. The Bolshevik revolution and the ensuing Civil
War prevented the Fifth Rebbe from ever accessing to his books again.
The Bolshevik revolutionaries seized the library in 1917. In 1924,
the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) took possession of the
books, storing them at what is now known as the Russian State Library.
The books remain at that location today.
Rabbi Joseph Isaac Schneersohn, the “sixth Rebbe,” maintained and
augmented the original archival collection for the benefit of the
worldwide Lubavitch community. In 1927, the Soviets arrested the Sixth
Rebbe, incarcerating him at Spalerno prison in Leningrad. There, he was
interrogated, tortured, and sentenced to death. Under pressure from
Western governments, Rabbi Schneersohn was permitted to leave the USSR
in 1927 and settle in Riga, Latvia, where he became a citizen. In 1933,
he moved to Warsaw, Poland. The archival collection was carried with
him when he settled in Latvia and again when he eventually settled in
Poland. In fact, the USSR provided the Sixth Rebbe with documentation
permitting him to take the archive documents, thus disavowing any
ownership by the USSR.
World War II began at dawn on September 1, 1939 when Nazi Germany
launched its infamous Blitzkrieg against Poland, invading from the West.
Seventeen days later, the Soviets attacked Poland from the East. The
Sixth Rebbe remained in Warsaw throughout its bombardment and fall to
Nazi Germany. With the intercession of the U.S. Department of State and
others, Rabbi Schneersohn was eventually given safe passage back to
Riga, Latvia. From there, he relocated to Stockholm, and finally
arrived in the United States on March 19, 1940. Later, he became an
American citizen.
When the Sixth Rebbe was rescued from Poland, he was unable to take
the archive, and the precious documents remained in Poland throughout
World War II. The Soviet Army occupied eastern Poland from September
1939 until June 1941, when Nazi Germany attacked the USSR. Days after
overrunning Auschwitz in mid-January 1945, the fast moving Soviet Army
liberated Warsaw from Nazi Germany.
During Nazi Germany’s occupation of Poland, the Nazis looted and
destroyed religious assets as part of its genocidal campaign to
exterminate the Jews. Some iconic religious items however were preserved
as trophies.
In the ashes of the 1945 liberation, and for decades thereafter, the
fate of the Lubavitch archive remained a mystery. However, in the 1970s,
a portion of the archive was found in Poland and returned by the Polish
government to the group. Those recovered archival documents were sent
to the organization’s central library in New York. Chabad always
believed the balance of the archival collection was taken by the Soviets
as war booty after World War II and transported for storage at the
Russian Military Archive.
For decades, Russian authorities concealed the existence and
whereabouts of the archive. For example, in 2000, the Russian Military
Archive spurned Chabad’s request to inspect how much, if any, of its
materials in Russian hands remained intact. Not until the 2003-2004
timeframe was Chabad able to confirm the existence and presence of the
archive.
Recent decades have seen a passionate intergovernmental and
organizational effort to return the books and documents to Chabad. The
effort began in 1933, at the dawn of Third Reich, when U.S. Senator
Millard E. Tydings (MD) wrote to Secretary of State Cordell Hull asking
him intervene with Soviet Ambassador Maxim Litvinov about returning the
library. It was to no avail.
In 1988, American industrialist Armand Hammer appealed to the USSR’s
Minister of Culture Vasily G. Zakharov to return at least some of the
library books to Chabad in New York as a good faith gesture during the
glasnost period. Two and half years later, Armand Hammer made a similar
request to Nikolai N. Guvenko, the new Minister of Culture.
In 1991, Russian General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev, through his
special advisor, Alexander Yaakovlev, formally instructed the Russian
State Library to return the books. This request was refused.
So Chabad petitioned the Russian State Arbitration Tribunal for a
court order directing the return of its books. Eventually, Lubavitchers
set up a 24-hour information station outside the Russian State Library
and began a weeks-long prayer vigil. Shortly after the vigil commenced, a
librarian from the Russian State Library provided the Chabad protestors
with evidence showing that some of the books in the Library had been
destroyed while in its possession. The vigil persisted until about
September 26, 1991, when the Russian Court finally issued an order to
the Russian State Library directing it to sequester and protect the
collection until its rightful owner could be determined.
On October 8, 1991, a three-judge panel of the Russian court held
that the library collection legally belonged to the Chabad community.
Russian State Library officials were directed to return the Library to
the rightful Chabad owners within a month. But the Russian Federation
and the Russian State Library appealed the order to the Russian Supreme
Court. Legal observers suggest the Russians worried that such a return
would create an irreversible precedent that could lead to the returns of
countless assets from Czarist treasures to East German properties.
During the appeal, the Russian State Library refused to comply with
the lower court’s order. On about October 14, 1991, the Moscow Marshals
rebuffed a request to assist a Chabad delegation’s effort to obtain
compliance and reclaim the books. A virtually extralegal stalemate
existed.
Chabad won again when in November of 1991, the Russian Supreme Court
ruled that the Russia never nationalized the Library. Therefore, its
books were not state property. The Russian Supreme Court concurred with
the lower court ruling, again ordering the Russian State Library to
transfer the collection. On November 20, 1991, Russian State Library
staff members reacted to the order of the Russian Supreme Court order by
taunting the waiting Chabad delegation with anti-Semitic slurs and
threats of violence. That evening, some 30 baton-wielding officers of
“the library police” attacked the Chabadniks and its supporters.

The
saga continued. In January 1992, Russia’s deputy chairman also ordered
the Russian State Library to hand the disputed library over to the
Chabad delegation. That same day, a group of hooligans again confronted
members of the Chabad in Moscow with anti-Semitic signs. The director of
Russian State Library’s manuscript department even joined the fracas,
inciting the crowd by shouting death threats through a bullhorn. Russian
hooligans also distributed a newspaper accusing Jews of ritual murder.
The next day a larger crowd assembled near the Russian State Library
again shouting anti-Semitic slogans and carrying signs condemning Chabad
delegation leader Rabbi Kogan to death. When the shouting died down,
the Russian State Library declared it would still refuse all court
orders and keep control of the books.
In mid-February 1992, Russian President Boris Yeltsin personally
promised then United States Secretary of State James Baker that the
library books would finally be returned to Chabad. But no books were
ever released. Later in February of that year, several U.S. Senators
including Bob Dole (KS), Al Gore (TN), and Joseph Lieberman (CT) wrote
additional letters to Supreme Soviet Chairman Ruslan Khasulatov, once
again requesting the return of Chabad’s library. By May of 1992, all 100
U.S. Senators signed a letter adopting a State Department statement
asking President Yeltsin to fulfill his promise and return the library.
But the books remained in Moscow.
That latest refusal led 16 U.S. Senators to jointly appeal to
President Yeltsin reminding him of letters previously sent by every
member of the Senate and over 130 members of the House of
Representatives. Still, the Russians held fast. Later in 1992, President
Bill Clinton pressed President Yeltsin for the return of the Library,
to no avail.
Ironically, shortly after Clinton’s appeal to Yeltsin, the Russian
government surprised everyone by issuing a decree “canceling” the orders
of the Russian Supreme Court, and prohibiting the return of the
library. The Russian governmental decree claimed that the Russian state
was the actual owner of expropriated Jewish books.
In response, Congress enacted the Freedom Support Act in October,
1992. Section 202 of the Act prohibits assistance—other than
humanitarian assistance—to a governmental entity in certain situations
where there has been a failure to comply with a final court judgment
that the entity is unlawfully withholding books or other documents of
historical significance that are the property of United States persons.
Days later, U.S. Secretary of State Lawrence Eagleburger certified that
the Russian State Library was in violation of the Freedom Support Act
because of its refusal to return the library. The Russian State Library
was deemed ineligible from receiving any U.S. financial assistance or
cooperation. In short, it was declared bibliotheca non grata.
Years later, the matter came to the attention of President Vladimir
Putin. To help resolve the matter, Putin ordered that token volumes from
the collection be returned. However, for the past two years, Chabad has
been denied further access, and its recovery attempt has been
continuously stymied.
In recent years, the law firms of Lewin and Lewin LLP, Howrey LLP,
and Bingham McCutchen LLP through lawyers Nathan Lewin and Alyza Lewin,
W. Bradford Reynolds, Marshall Grossman and Seth Gerber entered the
fray. Nathan Lewin is known for such international jurisprudence,
including a huge damage award in a lawsuit for damages from charities
that provide financial assistance to Hamas.
Recently, Chabad discovered that 12 valuable, sacred handwritten
documents written by the Third Lubavitcher Rebbe were removed from the
Russian Military Archive and transported to Jerusalem – perhaps for sale
to collectors of such Judaica. That prompted a request to the U.S.
court hearing the case to require Russia to get those documents back and
restore them to the Russian Military Archive.
In response to Chabad’s motion, Chief Judge Royce Lamberth issued a
rare U.S. federal court order requiring the Russian Federation, the
Russian State Library, and the Russian Military Archives to preserve the
precious books and historical writings. Moreover, the federal court
warned that if Russia deliberately flouts the order, the Court may
require Russia to allow a team of Chabad experts to examine the archival
documents and books even before final disposition is achieved. Although
Russia litigated vigorously in the federal trial and appellate courts,
it has refused to communicate with its American lawyers after it lost a
major decision in the United States Court of Appeals. Russia’s lawyers—a
major law firm named Squire, Sanders & Dempsey—have asked to
withdraw from the case. The Court gave Russia 45 days to retain new
counsel and informed Russia that if it fails to find new counsel, the
Court will enter a default judgment in favor of Chabad.
If Chabad prevails, the ruling could have a far-reaching impact on
governments of all casts that have seized documents, libraries and other
possessions as part of occupation, revolution, plunder, or decree
during the past centuries.
A new showdown is expected. For now Chabad, with a federal ruling in
hand, has scored a victory in its legal struggle. But the group has been
winning for some ninety years and still has never reclaimed its papers
and books. “Those precious writings,” says attorney Nathan Lewin,
“represent the very spiritual soul of the group.”
Hence, the litigation is not so much about valuable papers and
volumes as much as ideas and philosophies that some would argue stretch
back to the 18th Century, and many would insist reaches back to time
immemorial.

Moses Hess, the 'Red Rabbi' who converted Marx and Engels to Communism,
before coming out himself as a Zionist, wrote in Rome and Jerusalem
that Jews are a race & a nation. Others say that Jews are a diaspora-based
civilization. I argue that Jews constitute a religion, but that there is
an atheistic variant of the Jewish religion.

Harry Waton, a Marxist Jew and yet "religious" too (like Moses
Hess), argued that Marxism is a religion - a variant of the Jewish.

A religion can be non-theistic; Buddhism is.

Spinoza is difficult to read; it is best to read him through the thoughts
of other people - i.e. people he influenced. He was very important to them,
because he introduced a different concept of divinity. It was a higher
concept, because earlier concepts (including in Judaism) were anthropomorphic
and tribal.

He was deeemed an atheist; but he was a religious non-theist.

My own concept is something similar.

Spinoza pioneered a pantheistic version of Judaism, which is not
theistic (therefore atheistic) yet religious
. Albert Einstein, and
many other Jewish non-theists, admired him.

Moses Hess, in Rome and Jerusalem, lavishes praise on Spinoza.
David Ben-Gurion and Harry Waton, like Hess combining Communism and Zionism,
similarly portrayed Spinoza as a major thinker.

Albert Einstein, in his writings about Cosmic Religion, pays tribute
to Spinoza's re-definition of God in non-anthroporphic terms. Karl Marx
wrote that Hegel used Spinoza's God to develop his concept of Absolute
Spirit.

Spinoza writes of God, but his God is not the God of the Bible, a God
that walks in a garden, wrestles with Jacob, appears to Moses in a burning
bush or on a smoky mountain, or has a Chosen People. It's more like the
God of the Deists.

In his denial of those anthropomorphisms, Spinoza has been considered
atheistic.

Hegel's concept of "Absolute Spirit" looks like "God",
but is it theistic? Is Hegel's God the God of the Bible?

Spinoza can be seen as pioneering a more elevated concept of divinity.
For Jews of that persuasion he is the prophet who has made a new, higher,
revelation of Judaism; and they consider Marx similarly.

By comparison, consider the Taoist notion of "Tao" as an expression
of divinity that comes to us from 2500 years ago. The Tao Te Ching
contains no creationist mythology, no anthropomorphisms, no historicism
.

Around the same time, Heraclitus in Greece (Ionia, the edge of
the Persian Empire) enunciated the concept of the Logos - unity through
the clash of opposites
- similarly a remarkable achievement.

one pole (the evil) must be destroyed, whereas Heraclitus articulates complementary

If atheistic variants of Judaism are a religion, then Spinoza is the
person who first formulated this atheistic religion which inspires Jewish
Communists.

Astrophysicists Fred Hoyle and Chandra Wickramasinghe reject

charges the system of Spinoza, which is an immediate outflow of the Creative
Spirit with a lack of emotion, calling it a system of dry reason, displays
only his own ignorance of the true nature of these problems and of their
masterly solution by Spinoza.

The basic idea of the system of Spinoza, namely, that God is the
only substance
, the ground and origin of all being, is the fundamental
expression of the Jewish genius
, which has ever manifested itself
in divine revelations from the time of Moses
and the Prophets, down
to modern days.

{p. 189} The typical expression of the Jewish genius, the genetic view,
is essentially one with all its representatives, with Moses and the Prophets
as well as with Spinoza. The first do not contradict modern science, their
views are only divergent and different in external form from that of science
but not contradictory to it. Nor is Spinoza's teaching contradictory to
Jewish Monotheism. What Jewish revelation emphasized most is the unity
of the creative

{p. 190} spirit, in opposition to the plurality of forces; and this
idea has been expressed clearly also by Spinoza. The Bible, stripped of
its anthropomorphic expressions, does not offer a single point which expressly
contradicts the teachings of Spinoza. Moses himself says that the Knowledge
of God is not found either in heaven or in the distances of space, but
that the real revelation of God takes place within ourselves, in our spirit
and heart. A similar expression occurs in the Talmud. "The Holy Presence
never descended to earth, nor did Moses ascend to heaven." Must we
consider the anthropomorphic expressions of the Bible as dogmas? If so,
they will finally undermine the fundamental dogma of Jewish teaching which
is so clearly enunciated in the Shema. Nor is the doctrine of the eternity
of the spirit to be misunderstood. The eternity of the spirit does not
begin after death, but is, like God, always present.

An external God, who does not manifest himself to men as an immediate
ever-present Creator, is not the God of the Jews, Christians and Mohammedans,
and can become as little the religious ground of the regenerated nations
as pagan Polytheism and Pantheism.

and leaders of Israel, Moses our teacher, was a native of North Africa,
in the Nile Valley. The great Jewish scientists and philosophers of
the last few generations - Spinoza, Einstein, Freud, Robert Oppenheimer

and others - were natives of Europe and America.

we are given the story of the birth, growth and struggles of a nation.
The writing of Hebrew history predated the works of Herodotus and Thucydides
and other books of history written by Greeks and Romans in days of old.


The Bible bequeathed to the Jewish people an awareness of its origin,
its great past, its political, military, cultural and spiritual struggles
with its neighbors, its moral and religious uniqueness, as well as its
historical destiny for the future.

message of the Chosen People makes sense in secular, rationalist and historical
terms when turned around to describe an act of selection by Abraham and
his successor of a God they had formulated. In other words, first came
man, then his gods. This does not decrease the power of the Jewish God
to work for good nor the validity of the Bible's message of righteousness.

Institute of America asked me to formulate my program

delivered by me before the members of the Spinoza Institute on October
23, 1938, I presented to them, in brief, my program. As a result of this
address, a committee organized itself under the name: The Committee for
the Preservation of the Jews, and this committee published my address under
the title: A Program for the Jews.

herself with God and enjoys what Spinoza calls the Intellectual Love
of God
- it is the love of Jehovah of which the Bible speaks.

and infinitely by eternally and infinitely causing himself to exist. The
Absolute is substance; his essence is from himself. The Absolute is life;
he is eternally and infinitely living. The Absolute is thought; he is conscious
of himself and thinks of himself. The Absolute in nature is prior to the
world. This does not mean that the Absolute existed in himself, and then
manifested himself as the world. Eternally and infinitely the Absolute
manifested himself as the world; the world, therefore, is coeternal and
coinfinite with the Absolute. But by nature the Absolute is prior to the
world. This means that, while the world presupposes the existence of the
Absolute, the Absolute does not presuppose the world.

... The Absolute is absolute thought, thought without any form. As thought,
the Absolute reflects on himself. This selfreflection of the Absolute is
the Infinite Intellect. ...

it is none the less the Absolute. 68. The world has neither essence nor
existence of its own; the world is merely the reflexion of the reflexion
of the Absolute through the Infinite Intellect in an infinite series of

The aim of the Absolute is to realize himself in the material world,
to make the world as perfect as he is, and to bring out material beings
that shall know and understand him as Infinite Intellect. ...

to Jehovah, and brought down to mankind light
, knowledge and understanding.
These immortals saw Jehovah face to face, and what they saw they imparted
to mankind in a veiled manner, for mankind were not yet prepared to see
Jehovah face to face. Man begins as an animal, but he is destined to attain
to reason, become rational and morally autonomous. Then man will be prepared
to realize the aim of Jehovah, and this man will realize by attaining to
the intellect. The intellect is the soul wholly explicit, self-conscious
and universally conscious. When man attains to the intellect, he then perceives
that his intellect is part of the Infinite Intellect; that is, he then
perceives that his soul is part of Jehovah. He then identifies himself
with Jehovah in eternal and supreme intellectual love of Jehovah. This
is the destiny of man. Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our God Jehovah is One.
And thou shalt love Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy
soul, and with all thy might. But, while it is the destiny of man to identify
himself with Jehovah, it is the destiny of Jehovah to realize himself in
man. God, the Infinite Intellect, has as many names as he comprehends attributes,
but God assumes the name, Jehovah, only when he realizes himself in man.
Hence only on this earth and in man does God assume the name Jehovah.

{p. 113} ... But the Jews were chosen, not for their own sake,
they were chosen to become the means through whom Jehovah will redeem
all mankind
. Salvation is of the Jews, but the Jews themselves will
realize this salvation only through the salvation of the whole human race.
It is therefore the historic function of the Jews to bring salvation to
mankind.

{p. 115} ... Judaism is a religion that requires work, struggle and
suffering. Judaism declares: man can be justified only by deeds, faith
alone is not enough. To identify oneself with Jehovah through Judaism,
one must constantly work, struggle and suffer. Judaism is not only the
only historic religion, but it is also the only moral religion. Judaism
prescribes rules for conduct in all cases. There is nothing a Jew can do
which is not prescribed in the Bible how the Jew shall do it.

{p. 217} ... There never was a time when any Jew believed that Jehovah
spoke to Moses or to the Prophets in any other sense than we believe today
that God - that is, existence - reveals himself through the minds of
a Spinoza, a Hegel, a Marx, an Einstein

Thus saith Jehovah was only a form of speech, just as we use the expressions,
according to Marxism, dialectics, relativity, and the like.

On the one hand, one could accept Baur's pronouncement that no philosophy
of antiquity bears so much the character of religion as the Platonic. But
it would only mean that no philosopher had taught philosophy with more

abstinence from idling, idling, abstinence from working, &C. These
gentlemen would do well, to ponder, once in a way, over Spinoza's:

1873 Afterword to the Second German edition of Capital: in the
course of defiantly paying his intellectual dues to Hegel, Marx repeats
his earlier formula about the ridiculousness of calling Spinoza
a dead dog:

The mystifying side of Hegelian dialectic I criticised nearly thirty
years ago, at a time when it was still the fashion. But just as I was working
at the first volume of "Das Kapital," it was the good pleasure
of the peevish, arrogant, mediocre 'Epigonoi who now talk large in cultured
Germany, to treat Hegel in same way as the brave Moses Mendelssohn in Lessing's
time treated Spinoza, i.e., as a "dead dog." I therefore
openly avowed myself the pupil of that mighty thinker, and even here and
there, in the chapter on the theory of value, coquetted with the modes
of expression peculiar to him.

I have not attempted more explicit quotations from Engels, which
exist in addition.


Michael Hardt's comment about Marx and Spinoza was that Spinoza was
a communist before Marx.

Rather than "How Marxist was Spinoza?" which makes
Marxism a standard of truth, the question might be better posed as "How
Spinozist was Marx?"


So far these quotes show that Marx respected Spinoza.

Having now read Stuart Hampshire's "Spinoza - An Introduction to
his Philosophical Thought", I am going to risk a few comments, and
ask for corrections of emphasis or accuracy from others.

Following his rediscovery by the German Romantics, Spinoza was understood
in his philosophy to advocate a sort of pantheism in which God was synonymous
with nature
. However that was in a materialist sense. In his struggle
to distance himself from Judaism, Protestantism and Catholicism, Spinoza
focussed his philosphical approach on a fundamental metaphysical comprehensive
statement
about the universe. This has the merit of avoiding empricist
approaches to scientific inquiry. I suggest it is much more akin to
Marx's comprehensive approach
to data, than that of the English speaking
empiricists.

Spinoza emphasised the interconnections of all things, which
is very much a feature of dialectics. He also doubted the permanence
of what we would normally call things, another feature, although he did
not talk of contradictions.

His approach was a metaphysical approach inspired by the ideal of mathematics.
Although like Marx, he had a relative theory of knowledge, of an ascent
from limited to more complete knowledge, his metaphysical model had
no place for time
. Spinoza was clearly influenced by the development
of philosophical thought, but according to Hampshire had no sense of
human society being shaped and altered by history
. Thus he could not
be a forerunner of ideas of historical materialism.

Spinoza was rigorous enough to avoid the great philosophical compromise
between religion and scientific experimentation: that God created the universe
at the beginning, and scientists merely discover the objective workings

Therefore if change were to come about, that would have to be through developments
in the eternally pulsating nature of reality itself. I would suggest
that his mathematical, timeless model actually prepares the ground for
such a theoretical development, which was superior to the compromise of
the Deists and their predecessors.

{Such a view, of an uncreated, eternally pulsating universe, is in accord
with Indian thought. The very credible astrophysicist Fred Hoyle and mathematician
Chandra Wickramasing put such a view in their books. Unfortunately, on
account of their dissidence from Big Bang orthodoxy, the BBC did not see
fit to grant them a documentary TV series: science.html}

Although Spinoza is an important and progressive contributor to ideas
of bourgeois right, he interprets right as virtually synonymous with
power
. Therefore he has a materialist approach to the struggle of interests
that make up the state. He also assumes that all humans have some power.

However he sees no historical progressive role for a working class,
and has an ambivalent attitude to the multitude. But perhaps Marx's
ideas about classes were more complex than some of his followers imply
.

Spinoza's ontology is consistent with a universe made up of layered
semi-permanent units, in conformity with modern complexity theory. So IMHO
is Marx's perspective.

A fine human being, who was ahead of his time in seeing the implications
of bourgeois society at its best. But despite the fact that he had no sense
of historical development, still less of historical materialism, he was
also very much a product of his historical era.

world with God has only this negative significance. For to call the world
God is not to explain it; it remains a riddle under the one name as under
the other. But these two negative truths were of value for their time,

of starting from concepts without having previously investigated their
origin, such, for example, as substance, cause, and so on. In such a method
of procedure, these concepts then receive a much too extensive validity.

Moses Hess, the 'Red Rabbi' who converted Marx and Engels to Communism, before coming out himself as a Zionist, wrote in Rome and Jerusalem that Jews are a race & a nation. Others say that Jews are a diaspora-based civilization. I argue that Jews constitute a religion, but that there is an atheistic variant of the Jewish religion.

Harry Waton, a Marxist Jew and yet "religious" too (like Moses Hess), argued that Marxism is a religion - a variant of the Jewish.

A religion can be non-theistic; Buddhism is.

Spinoza is difficult to read; it is best to read him through the thoughts of other people - i.e. people he influenced. He was very important to them, because he introduced a different concept of divinity. It was a higher concept, because earlier concepts (including in Judaism) were anthropomorphic and tribal.

He was deeemed an atheist; but he was a religious non-theist.

My own concept is something similar.

(1) Spinoza pioneered a new version of the Jewish religion - pantheistic Judaism

Spinoza pioneered a pantheistic version of Judaism, which is not theistic (therefore atheistic) yet religious. Albert Einstein, and many other Jewish non-theists, admired him.

Moses Hess, in Rome and Jerusalem, lavishes praise on Spinoza. David Ben-Gurion and Harry Waton, like Hess combining Communism and Zionism, similarly portrayed Spinoza as a major thinker.

Albert Einstein, in his writings about Cosmic Religion, pays tribute to Spinoza's re-definition of God in non-anthroporphic terms. Karl Marx wrote that Hegel used Spinoza's God to develop his concept of Absolute Spirit.

Spinoza writes of God, but his God is not the God of the Bible, a God that walks in a garden, wrestles with Jacob, appears to Moses in a burning bush or on a smoky mountain, or has a Chosen People. It's more like the God of the Deists.

In his denial of those anthropomorphisms, Spinoza has been considered atheistic.

Hegel's concept of "Absolute Spirit" looks like "God", but is it theistic? Is Hegel's God the God of the Bible?

Spinoza can be seen as pioneering a more elevated concept of divinity. For Jews of that persuasion he is the prophet who has made a new, higher, revelation of Judaism; and they consider Marx similarly.

By comparison, consider the Taoist notion of "Tao" as an expression of divinity that comes to us from 2500 years ago. The Tao Te Ching contains no creationist mythology, no anthropomorphisms, no historicism.

Around the same time, Heraclitus in Greece (Ionia, the edge of the Persian Empire) enunciated the concept of the Logos - unity through the clash of opposites - similarly a remarkable achievement.

On Heraclitus' Logos, see G. S. Kirk & J. E. Raven, The Presocratic Philosophers (Cambridge, at the University Press, 1962), pp. 187-199. Also Lawrence H. Mills' Zoroaster, Philo and Israel, Part 1: Zoroaster and the Greeks (F.A. Brockhaun, Leipzig, 1903-4), pp. 89-95 and 100-106. Mills, an Avesta scholar, derives Heraclitus' metaphysics - the cosmic war of opposites, and Logos (an underlying unity) as Reason embedded in Nature - from Zoroastrian inspiration.

However, Zoroastrian thought articulates antagonistic polarity, in which one pole (the evil) must be destroyed, whereas Heraclitus articulates complementary polarity - like Taoism - in which both poles are essential parts of the whole. If atheistic variants of Judaism are a religion, then Spinoza is the person who first formulated this atheistic religion which inspires Jewish Communists.

Leon Trotsky and the Jews

    (The purpose of this article is not to describe Trotsky's accomplishments and failures and subsequent assassination, but to describe his relationship with his fellow Jews and Judaism).

    One of the most influential people in the Russian revolution was Leon Trotsky. He was born on November 7, 1879, in the Ukraine with the name Lev Davidovich Bronstein but changed his name to avoid being known as a Jew. Briefly speaking, Trotsky was a great intellectual and political thinker. He rose to the second top position under Lenin and was responsible (amongst other credits) for the development of the Red Army.

He had a basic disagreement with Stalin as to the nature of Communism. Simply speaking, Stalin's view was that securing the Russian Communistic state was of chief importance whereas Trotsky, who considered himself an Internationalist and did not like the concept of individual and nationalistic states, felt that Communist revolution must unite all workers and abolish territorial borders – to Trotsky, it was the small nationalistic states that were the causes of wars.

His father David Leontievich Bronstein was a farmer and although quite clever and prosperous as a farmer, he was illiterate. However it did not stop him from hiring local peasants to work his lands benefiting greatly from their labor. This usage of poor peasants to become wealthy bothered the young Trotsky, who felt deeply the pain of the poor.

At the age of seven, young Bronstein was sent to cheder (Jewish religious school) in a nearby village where he learned Torah in Hebrew in the old traditional manner by reciting the verse in Hebrew with a translation into Yiddish. He was quite aware of the restrictions placed on Jews at the time and he too was subjected to the anti-Semitic prejudices which were accepted by the local Christians and prevalent at the time, such as not being welcome in the homes of his Christian neighbors.

His parents were not strictly observant but on the holy days would travel to the synagogue in the nearby village. His mother would refrain from menial work on the Shabbat.

Trotsky was born and raised during the period which saw many of the ghastly pogroms that swept the Ukraine area. To Trotsky, like many of the Jews, a solution must be found that would prevent such deliberate pillaging and wanton killings. He developed an intense dislike of injustice and tyranny. The existing concept of national inequality was one of the great underlying causes of his dissatisfaction with the existing order.

Later he rationalized that the pogroms were a result of the degenerate social structure of serfdom. Only by the Tsar's overthrow and the establishment of a new justice ruling system would the brutal massacres stop. He attributed the pogroms to a need of a governmental scapegoat to allay the complaints of the masses. Only by fighting against the bankers and speculators would the confidence of the poor working classes be changed. Trotsky put his trust in his concept of Internationalism to solve all of mankind's problems, including the Jewish problems.

When Trotsky was nine he traveled to Odessa to continue studies at St. Paul's realschule, and at the same time, continuing his attendance at Jewish religious classes. It was during those years that Trotsky became an atheist totally rebelling against religion which he considered pure superstition.

Trotsky fought with his father and his way of life. Against his father's desires he married a Jewish girl, Alexandra Lvovna Sokolovskaya, who was six years his senior, while his was imprisoned for his activist activities. She bore him two daughters but later on he abandoned her and their children. He later took Natalia Sedova as his common-law wife in 1903. She gave him two sons who used her last name so they not be identified with him.

Trotsky's relations with his parents remained hostile, but during his years of exile they would go to visit him. His mother died in 1910 at the age of sixty. When the October Revolution came, Trotsky's father was a relatively wealthy man, only to be ruined by the revolution. Yet his son would not come to his aid, commenting that "my father has no shoes and with so many people around who have no shoes, how could I possible request shoes for my father?" Deserted by his son, he was forced to fend for himself in his old age. When his father died and requested to be buried with a Jewish burial, Trotsky refused to bury him in the Jewish cemetery, instead had him buried in the garden of his house. This has been widely regarded as a clear action by Trotsky to openly exhibit his disdain for his Jewish heritage.

The Mendel Beilis trial in 1917 shocked the world. Trotsky also protested the miscarriage of justice and in an open letter to A. S. Zarudny, the minister of justice, he protested against the "deliberate attempt at moral assassination." Instead of identifying with the Jew, Beilis, he used the trial to denounce the Tsarist government and its despicable methodology to garner popular support for the Tsar.

In his years in exile in Vienna he became a correspondent for one of Russia's great newspapers. He reported on the active anti-Semitism in Rumanian, stating that in Rumania "anti-Semitism has established itself as a state religion…" Some three hundred thousand Rumanian Jews were not recognized as Rumanian citizens even though their fathers and grandfathers were born in Rumania. Trotsky was intimately knowledgeable of the plight of Rumanian Jews, but instead of identifying with the Jews as his own people, he used them as a piece of propaganda to further his idea of internationalist communistic solutions to achieve social equality.

During the early period of revolutionary polemics, the General Jewish Workers' Union, better known as the 'Bund', offered the Jewish workers its answer to exploitation and pogroms. The Bund dealt only with the Jewish workers who shared a common cultural background. The Bund was essentially anti-religious but pro-Yiddish which had emerged at that time as a popular culture. The Bund claimed to be the sole representative of the Jewish working class and exerted a great secularizing influence on the Jewish masses, but it did not try to take away the distinct Jewish-Yiddish character of the Jewish workers. They repudiated Jewish national holidays as phantasies which are useless for human society, believing that they will soon vanish together with the old social systems.

Both Lenin and Trotsky criticized the Bund for its separatist and chauvinistic approach to workers' liberation. Trotsky was an assimilationist, the Bundist were a nationalist-Yiddishist anti-religious movement within the Jewish people. Trotsky resented them since nationalistic movements were the opposite of his own internationalist philosophy. Trotsky refused to see the Jewish problem as the Jews saw it, but rather as a problem that arises due to nationalistic tendencies amongst peoples.

Trotsky felt as Marx that "religion is the opium of the people. Whoever fails to struggle against religion is unworthy of bearing the name of a revolutionary." In a letter written less than six months before his assassination he stated that "for forty-three years of my life I have remained a revolutionary. I shall die a proletarian revolutionary, a Marxist, a dialectical materialist, and consequently an irreconcilable atheist." Nevertheless in the first Soviet government following the October Revolutions, Trotsky was the only Jew included in the ruling elite. Incidentally, in the second government another Jew was appointed as commissar of justice, a Jew by the name of Steinberg who was a strictly religious Jew who when he was arrested prior to the revolution would wear tephilin in his cell and even celebrate the Passover Seder there. Needless to say, Trotsky and Steinberg disagreed on several issues.

The Evsektsa was the 'Jewish Section" of the Communist party and was charged with dealing with the large Jewish population of three million non-assimilated people. Unlike other nationals living in the Soviet Union, the Jews were viewed as a separate national group, but they lacked a territory of their own. The Soviet Union had to modify its stance toward the Jews and 'grant' them a fictional nationality.

The Evseksia had a definite task, to eliminate the Jewish private trader and to bring the cultural Yiddish life in line with the Communist party line. The Evseksia was basically staffed by Jews who "had to be more Catholic than the Pope". Many of the members of the Evseksia were former members of the Bund. Their work wrought havoc on the Jews, especially the observant Jews. The Evseksia fought the Jewish religion with great fury trying to eradicate any practice.

Trotsky was completely indifferent to the actions of the Evseksia. He would not intercede on behalf of his Jewish brethren and they were forced to look for help in other less powerful quarters.

Trotsky referred to himself not as a Jew, but as an Internationalist. His name change from Bronstein would mean that he would be forever identified as a Jew to which he was opposed. He took the name of Trotsky from his non-Jewish jailer, but everyone knew that Trotsky was a Jew - Stalin would never let him forget it and he used it to his advantage. Trotsky often expressed his disdain for Jews in the Communist Party; this was partly credited because of his dealings with the Bund. How could a person be a Jew, meaning exposing a national class and still be a Communist, believing in the fraternity of men? To Trotsky, the Jew always reverted back to being a Jew.

Yet later in life as he lived his exile from Stalin, he tried working with them instead of against them. He began to exhort the Jewish Communists to abandon Yiddish and learn the local languages. He hoped that the Jewish worker would act as a catalyst to convert the local workers. Yet he failed to realize that most Soviet Jews were ruined financially by the revolution, lived in poverty and misery for many years and were skeptical that Communism could revolutionize the world. Even though many Jews reached high ranks in the Communist Party after the revolution, it was only a small minority. In his own locale where he was born, he was hated intensely and accused of robbing and plundering the Jews

It is related that the chief Rabbi of Moscow, Rabbi Jacob Maze, once appeared before Trotsky to plead on the behalf of the Russian Jews. Trotsky answered him, as he had done on various occasions, that he was a Communist and did not consider himself a Jew. To this Rabbi Maze replied: "Trotsky makes the revolutions, and the Bronsteins pay the bills."

Churchill was quoted as saying that so great was the contribution that Trotsky made to the Red Army, that he deserved to be made Dictator of Russia, save but one obstacle: He was a Jew. He was still a Jew and nothing could get him passed it. It is difficult when you have deserted your family, repudiated your race, spat upon the religion of your fathers, only to be denied the great prize of being considered a non-Jew.

Stalin never publicly admitted his hatred for Jews. Officially anti-Semitism was illegal in the Soviet Union. Yet Stalin was wary of Jews in high places and could not trust them always believing that perhaps there was a conspiracy brewing. His daughter, Svetlana, said that she believes Stalin's excesses against the Jews stem from his years of power struggle with Trotsky gradually transferring itself from a political power struggle to a racial hatred of all Jews.

In regards to Zionism, Trotsky showed only the smallest interest. He understood the movement to be a reactionary utopian unrealizable dream. Since Trotsky believed that the proletariat has no fatherland, the concept of a Jewish nation seemed antiquated since according to Marx, the state is bound to wither away heralding the classless society. The Bund also was opposed to Zionism which viewed Zionism as a distraction that took the Jewish worker's mind away from social action at home. Yet to Trotsky, the only difference between the Bund and the Zionist were the choice of territory or as one writer of the period commented, "The only difference between the Zionists and the Bundists is that the Bundists are Zionists who are afraid of sea sickness." (Attributed to Plenkhanov in a conversation with Jabotinsky)

One of the greatest myths of contemporary history is that the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia was a popular uprising of the downtrodden masses against the hated ruling class of the Tsars. As we shall see, however, the planning, the leadership and especially the financing came entirely from outside Russia, mostly from financiers in Germany, Britain and the United States. Furthermore we shall see, that the Rothschild Formula played a major role in shaping these events.



This amazing story begins with the war between Russia and Japan in 1904. Jacob Schiff, who was head of the New York investment firm Kuhn, Loeb and Company, had raised the capital for large war loans to Japan. It was due to this funding that the Japanese were able to launch a stunning attack against the Russians at Port Arthur and the following year to virtually decimate the Russian fleet. In 1905 the Mikado awarded Jacob Schiff a medal, the Second Order of the Treasure of Japan, in recognition of his important role in that campaign.

During the two years of hostilities thousands of Russian soldiers and sailors were taken as prisoners. Sources outside of Russia, which were hostile to the Tsarist regime, paid for the printing of Marxist propaganda and had it delivered to the prison camps. Russian-speaking revolutionaries were trained in New York and sent to distribute the pamphlets among the prisoners and to indoctrinate them into rebellion against their own government. When the war was ended, these officers and enlisted men returned home to become virtual seeds of treason against the Tsar. They were to play a major role a few years later in creating mutiny among the military during the Communist takeover of Russia.



TROTSKY WAS A MULTIPLE AGENT
One of the best known Russian revolutionaries at that time was Leon Trotsky. In January of 1916 Trotsky was expelled from France and came to the United States. It has been claimed that his expenses were paid by Jacob Schiff. There is no documentation to substantiate that claim, but the circumstantial evidence does point to a wealthy donor in New York. He remained for several months, while writing for a Russian socialist paper, the Novy Mir (New World) and giving revolutionary speeches at mass meetings in New York City. According to Trotsky himself, on many occasions a chauffeured limousine was placed at his service by a wealthy friend, identified as Dr. M. In his book, My Life, Trotsky wrote:



The doctor's wife took my wife and the boys out driving and was very kind to them. But she was a mere mortal, whereas the chauffeur was a magician, a titan, a superman! With the wave of his hand he made the machine obey his slightest command. To sit beside him was the supreme delight. When they went into a tea room, the boys would anxiously demand of their mother, "Why doesn't the chauffeur come in?" (Leon Trotsky: My Life, New York publisher: Scribner's, 1930, p. 277)



It must have been a curious sight to see the family of the great socialist radical, defender of the working class, enemy of capitalism, enjoying the pleasures of tea rooms and chauffeurs, the very symbols of capitalist luxury.



On March 23, 1917 a mass meeting was held at Carnegie Hall to celebrate the abdication of Nicolas II, which meant the overthrow of Tsarist rule in Russia. Thousands of socialists, Marxists, nihilists nand anarchists attended to cheer the event. The following day there was published on page two of the New York Times a telegram from Jacob Schiff, which had been read to this audience. He expressed regrets, that he could not attend and then described the successful Russian revolution as "...what we had hoped and striven for these long years". (Mayor Calls Pacifists Traitors, The New York Times, March 24, 1917, p. 2)



In the February 3, 1949 issue of the New York Journal American Schiff's grandson, John, was quoted by columnist Cholly Knickerbocker as saying that his grandfather had given about $20 million for the triumph of Communism in Russia. (To appraise Schiff's motives for supporting the Bolsheviks, we must remember, that he was a Jew and that Russian Jews had been persecuted under the Tsarist regime. Consequently the Jewish community in America was inclined to support any movement, which sought to topple the Russian government and the Bolsheviks were excellent candidates for the task. As we shall see further along, however, there were also strong financial incentives for Wall Street firms, such as Kuhn, Loeb and Company, of which Schiff was a senior partner, to see the old regime fall into the hands of revolutionaries, who would agree to grant lucrative business concessions in the future in return for financial support today.)



When Trotsky returned to Petrograd in May of 1917 to organize the Bolshevik phase of the Russian Revolution, he carried $10,000 for travel expenses, a generously ample fund considering bthe value of the dollar at that time. Trotsky was arrested by Canadian and British naval personnel, when the ship, on which he was traveling, the S.S. Kristianiafjord, put in at Halifax. The money in his possession is now a matter of official record. The source of that money has been the focus of much speculation, but the evidence strongly suggests, that its origin was the German government. It was a sound investment.


Trotsky was not arrested on a whim. He was recognized as a threat to the best interests of England, Canada's mother country in the British Commonwealth. Russia was an ally of England in the First World War, which then was raging in Europe. Anything, that would weaken Russia - and that certainly included internal revolution - would be, in effect, to strengthen Germany and weaken England. In New York on the night before his departure Trotsky had given a speech, in which he said: "I am going back to Russia to overthrow the provisional government and stop the war with Germany." (A full report on this meeting had been submitted to the U.S. Military Intelligence. See Senate Document No. 62, 66th Congress, Report and Hearings of the Subcommittee on the Judiciary, United States Senate, 1919, Vol. II, p. 2680.) Trotsky therefore represented a real threat to England's war effort. He was arrested as a German agent and taken as a prisoner of war.

With this in mind we can appreciate the great strength of those mysterious forces both in England and the United States, that intervened on Trotsky's behalf. Immediately telegrams began to come into Halifax from such divergent sources, as an obscure attorney in New York City, from the Canadian Deputy Postmaster-General and even from a high-ranking British military officer, all inquiring into Trotsky's situation and urging his immediate release. The head of the British Secret Service in America at the time was Sir William Wiseman, who, as fate would have it, occupied the apartment directly above the apartment of Edward Mandell House and who had become fast friends with him. House advised Wiseman, that President Wilson wished to have Trotsky released. Wiseman advised his government and the British Admiralty issued orders on April 21st, that Trotsky was to be sent on his way. ("Why Did We Let Trotsky Go? How Canada Lost an Opportunity to Shorten the War", MacLeans magazine, Canada, June 1919. Also see Martin, pp. 163-164.) It was a fateful deecision, that would affect not only the outcome of the war, but the future of the entire world.

It would be a mistake to conclude, that Jacob Schiff and Germany were the only players in this drama. Trotsky could not have gone even as far as Halifax without having been granted an American passport and this was accomplished by the personal intervention of President Wilson. Professor Antony Sutton says:

President Woodrow Wilson was the fairy godmother, who provided Trotsky with a passport to return to Russia to "carry forward" the revolution... At the same time careful State Department bureaucrats, concerned about such revolutionaries entering Russia, were unilaterally attempting to tighten up passport procedures. (Antony C. Sutton, Ph. D.: Wall Street and the Bolshevik Revolution, published by Arlington House in New Rochelle, NY, 1974, p. 25)

Trotskyism allegationCritics of neo-conservatism have charged that neo-conservatism is descended from Trotskyism, and that Trotskyist traits continue to characterize ideologies and practices of neo-conservatism. During the Reagan Administration, the charge that the foreign policy of the Reagan administration was being run by Trotskyists: This claim was called a "myth" by Lipset (1988, p. 34).[86] This "Trotskyist" charge has been repeated and even widened by journalist Michael Lind in 2003 to assert a takeover of the foreign policy of the George W. Bush administration by former Trotskyists;[87] Lind's "amalgamation of the defense intellectuals with the traditions and theories of 'the largely Jewish-American Trotskyist movement' [in Lind's words]" was criticized in 2003 by University of Michigan professor Alan M. Wald,[29] who had discussed Trotskyism in his history of "the New York intellectuals".[30][31]

The charge that neoconservativism is related to Leninism has been raised, also. Francis Fukuyama identified neoconservatism with Leninism in 2006.[13] He wrote that neoconservatives:

…believed that history can be pushed along with the right application of power and will. Leninism was a tragedy in its Bolshevik version, and it has returned as farce when practiced by the United States. Neoconservatism, as both a political symbol and a body of thought, has evolved into something I can no longer support.[13]

Antisemitism
Some writers and intellectuals have argued that criticism of neoconservatism is often a euphemism for criticism of Zionist Jews, and that the term has been adopted by the political left to stigmatize support for Israel. In The Chronicle of Higher Education, Robert J. Lieber warned that criticism of the 2003 Iraq War had spawned[82]

a conspiracy theory purporting to explain how [American] foreign policy... has been captured by a sinister and hitherto little-known cabal. A small band of neoconservative (read, Jewish) defense intellectuals... has taken advantage of 9/11 to put their ideas over on [Bush]... Thus empowered, this neoconservative conspiracy, "a product of the influential Jewish-American faction of the Trotskyist movement of the '30s and '40s" ([Michael] Lind)... has fomented war with Iraq... in the service of Israel's Likud government (Patrick J. Buchanan and [Eric Alterman).

Time magazine's Joe Klein has suggested it is legitimate to look at the religion of neoconservatives. He does not say there was a conspiracy but says there is a case to be made for disproportionate influence of Jewish neoconservative figures in US foreign policy, and that several of them supported the Iraq war because of Israel's interests, though sometimes in an unconscious contradiction to American interests:

"I do believe that there is a group of people who got involved and had a disproportionate influence on U.S. foreign policy. There were people out there in the Jewish community who saw this as a way to create a benign domino theory and eliminate all of Israel's enemies....I think it represents a really dangerous anachronistic neocolonial sensibility. And I think it is a very, very dangerous form of extremism. I think it's bad for Israel and it's bad for America. And these guys have been getting a free ride. And now these people are backing the notion of a war with Iran and not all of them, but some of them, are doing it because they believe that Iran is an existential threat to Israel."[83]

The Power of Nightmares, subtitled The Rise of the Politics of Fear, is a BBC documentary film series, written and produced by Adam Curtis. Its three one-hour parts consist mostly of a montage of archive footage with Curtis's narration. The series was first broadcast in the United Kingdom in late 2004 and has subsequently been broadcast in multiple countries and shown in several film festivals, including the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.

The films compare the rise of the Neo-Conservative movement in the United States and the radical Islamist movement, making comparisons on their origins and claiming similarities between the two.

More controversially, it argues that the threat of radical Islamism as a massive, sinister organised force of destruction, specifically in the form of al-Qaeda, is a myth perpetrated by politicians in many countries—and particularly American Neo-Conservatives—in an attempt to unite and inspire their people following the failure of earlier, more utopian ideologies.

The Power of Nightmares has been praised by film critics in both Britain and the United States. Its message and content have also been the subject of various critiques and criticisms from conservatives and progressives.
