Stationary Earth
Heres fun....
You bring forward evidence that the Earth is either spinning on its axis or orbiting the sun, and I'll refute it.
Game?

Psa 93:1 The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.

Re: Stationary Earth
I know that the earth spins on it's axis because I see the sun rise in the east. This is confirmed because the moon rises in the east too. At night all of the stars come up in the east and set in the west, except one. This one, logically is directly above the axis. That is why it doesn't seem to move all night.

Wait...the Earth is round? DARN YOU!! Charles K. Johnson!!!! You've tricked me again!
Actually, you Cant really prove its NOT Flat...I agree with DOC, I beleive that all rotates around the earth...that the earth is affixed.
It boils down two "holy books" honestly.
Bible=affixed earth, may be flat.

Yeah the Sun orbits the Earth just as we observe. And the moon also does JUST AS WE SEE and not the opposite way as modern science would have youi believe.
A fixed North Star (Polaris) doesnt really work if the Earth is orbiting the sun and the sun is orbiting the Galactic centre....AND...the galaxy is moving further and further away from the big bang. Does it?

Well....you can unless you believe that views of Earth from space are fake.

Hooray! I've never had anyone actually agree with me before. Again I say HOORAH!

I dont think the Bible teaches a flat Earth. But anyway, yeah...both the Bible and the Quran and basic observation and real science testify to a stationary Earth.
Re: Stationary Earth
I Well I dont beleive any "views of earth from space" any more.
Not since i found out that we now have a U.N ambasador to aliens.

(btw i dont REALLY beleive in a flat earth...but considering all of what has surfaced in the last few years....its awfuly fun to read and think about. )
So..long story short...I agree with you Doc, and there are a few others out there that might also:

I know what your saying KS.
Just for the record though heres a 24 hour time lapse of the Earth from a deep space satellite.
Now, the heliocentric explanation for this blatantly NON-SPINNING Earth, is that whatever the camera is mounted on is orbiting the Earth at 70,000 KPH...which is why it only LOOKS like the Earth is stationary!

Erm....I dont think so. Look at the framing of the shot. It doesnt move for the whole day. Not even a flicker or a vibration for the duration.
Job 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, [and] hangeth the earth upon nothing.
Re: Stationary Earth
From observations of the moons phases, I can deduce that it is a sphere. I can see the same light patterns on a ball illuminated by a candle.
I've seen the phases recur every month, so I can deduce that the moon travels around the earth once every month. Something like 28 days.
If the moon is round and it travels around the earth, the earth must be round as well.
If I travel to the north pole (let's say I did). I saw Polaris directly over my head. Then when I walked south I saw the North Star seem to come closer to the horizon, exactly as it would if I were walking on the surface of a sphere. I can use my ball and candle to demonstrate this as well.

Agreed. The moon orbits the Earth and is round.
But the Earth is still stationary.

OK, we know the moon orbits the earth, and it travels round once in 28 days. But when the moon is full I see it rise every night, not once a month.
The only explanation is that the earth revolves on its axis once a day.

You see the sun rise and the moon rise and the stars come up Are you sure which is moving the earth or the sun, moon, and stars moving like you say?

Or maybe the moon (as well as all the stars) takes a day (24 hours and 52 minutes on average) to orbit the Earth, east to west just as we observe?
Re: Stationary Earth
We've established from the phases that the moon's orbit takes 28 days. So the daily rise and set must must be from a different reason than the moon's orbit.
Which is simpler? The sun, the moon, the planets, and all the stars moving in concert around the earth.
Or the earth spinning?
I took a spin on a barstool. At that very instant, the bartender, the jukebox, the band, and the other drunks started revolving around me. Later that night as I was lying in bed the room started to spin.
I believe that was for a whole different reason.

Can you link me to documentation of this study please. It wouldn't per chance have an inbuilt presupposition that the Earth is spinning would it?Timotheos wrote:We've established from the phases that the moon's orbit takes 28 days. I guess they are equally as simple?Timotheos wrote:

Doc, Here's the link to the study:

I try to do this study every month, but there are often clouds in the way. I like to know what phase the moon is in. Are we just past full now, or am I confused again?
Which is the simpler explanation, the bartender and everyone and everything started moving around me or I was spinning on my barstool? I know those guys and they aint that coordinated.
Most men are wrong! The world only revolves around me.

Your gonna have to take me through it slowly Tim. How does the moon having phases prove that the Earth rotates?

Right, thats it.....I'm forced to pull out 'The Diagram'.
http://sites.google.com/site/earthdeception/moons-path-diagram-complex
The sun and moon both have ECLIPTICAL orbits just as we observe with our eyes. They both orbit the Earth once a day (moon a bit slower) but they have spiral orbits. The differing angles of the moon and its relationship with the sun during the month is what gives us the phases.
Re: Stationary Earth
Jos 10:12 Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
Jos 10:13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
Kindly explain how these verses work in a creation where the Earth spins on it's axis and orbits the sun?

Re: Stationary Earth
I can't think of any other way to prove by the use of senses that the earth is round, it goes around and it goes around the sun, so I'm just going to start with the ad hominem attacks now.
People who believe the earth is the center of the universe are ugly.
