An Introduction to the Sovereign Gospel

Selected Scriptures September 03, 2011 TM11-8

audio or video

http://www.gty.org/resources/sermons/TM11-8/an-introduction-to-the-sovereign-gospel

i rarely listen to or recommend John MacArthur (dispy eschatology). but he's a calvinist.

this however is a topical sermon on the Sovereignty of God in election (and human responsibility).

it wouldn't have found it but, but the guys at Monergism.com thought it so good they had it posted. it's EXCELLENT!

(teeny comment right at the end about "when He comes to set up His kingdom"....ain't nuthin')

the Sovereign Gospel Empty Re: the Sovereign Gospel

I didn't understand pre-destination or God's sovereignty until after the Lord saved me. I didn't understand Grace or Love either.

Ezekiel 36:26-31

26A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

28And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

29I will also save you from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you.

30And I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen.
31Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

Dispensationalists (sp?) teach that those verses are a future thing that will happen when people are resurrected. I know for certain that this has happened inside of me when the Lord changed me. Before, I was angry and lustful, all the time. Then afterward I would go to church and the Pastor would talk about salvation and I would cry, in public (something I still don't like to do...). How does an angry, lustful man go to church and cry real tears over a sermon or a song? Well, he doesn't unless his heart has been changed and a new spirit put within him.

I wonder how people who call themselves christians can say that they had a part in their salvation or that you need to follow a bunch of rules or laws in order to be saved, or to stay saved. We didn't do anything to cause ourselves to be saved. How would we think we do something to keep ourselves saved? Well its really obvious that the Lord Jesus holds all power in Heaven and Earth to those who have been saved and believe. It seems to contradict human logic and thought, which is almost a yardstick to show you its from God.

Thanks for the link zone

amen Grandpa!
my experience was the same.
love zone.

one of my favorite verses:

John 3
You Must Be Born Again
1
Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2This man came to Jesusa by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” 3Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born againb he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.c 7Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘Youd must be born again.’ 8The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
