War in Libya
A simple UN resolution and kablam. We got ourselves a new war.

Re: War in Libya
The UN security council will shortly start its proceedings for a vote on a resolution supporting military action against the Gaddafi regime in Libya.
Here's the Guardian's latest coverage reporting today's meeting:
Britain, France and the US, along with several Arab countries, are to join forces to throw a protective ring around the Libyan rebel stronghold of Benghazi as soon as a UN security council vote on military action is authorised, according to security council sources.

Libya attacked from air and sea
The UK, US and France have attacked Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi's forces in the first action to enforce a UN-mandated no-fly zone.
Pentagon officials say the US and the UK have fired more than 110 missiles, while French planes struck pro-Gaddafi forces attacking rebel-held Benghazi.

The BGM-109 Tomahawk is a long-range, all-weather, subsonic cruise missile. Introduced by General Dynamics in the 1970s, it was designed as a medium- to long-range, low-altitude missile that could be launched from a submerged submarine. It has been improved several times and, by way of corporate divestitures and acquisitions, is now made by Raytheon. Some Tomahawks were also manufactured by McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing Defense, Space & Security).
Production history
Manufacturer General Dynamics (initially)
Raytheon/McDonnell Douglas
Unit cost Approximately $569,000 (FY99 $) [1]
Approximately $755,851.27 in 2011 dollars

Tomahawk - WIKI
110 Missiles X $755,851.27 = 83 MILLION DOLLARS!!
The U.N. could have spent that helping Japanese people SURVIVE their disaster!!

On March 19, 2011, 112 Tomahawk missiles[7] were fired by U.S. and British forces against at least 20 Libyan targets around Tripoli and Misrata.[8] Just the cost of the missles alone was approximately US $84,560,000.

"Are events unfolding in Libya, Tunisia and Egypt more about petro-terrorism or about freedom and democracy? How much oil is there in North Africa? Who is in control of that oil? What is the relationship between the West and Muammar Gaddafi? Is he really the terrorist we've all been led to believe he is? Who is the Libyan "opposition" and who are the "rebels" we read about?" ......
..."In almost all western media accounts, the so-called "opposition" in Libya includes the unspecified, unnamed, unidentified "rebels" of the National Front for the Salvation of Libya (NFSL). These are not innocent 'pro-democracy' protestors who began with a 'peaceful sit-in' as reported by the New York Times and uncritically repeated everywhere else.
Reportage of atrocities in Darfur, Sudan (2003-20011) and Rwanda (1990-1994) was always blamed on the governments (Omar Bashir in Khartoum and Juvenal Habyarimana in Kigali) with no context to the foreign backed insurgency and intervention occurring, which in both cases involved the US, UK and Israel. Similarly, in Libya today, there is no context or history to the FNSL 'rebels': they are categorically presented as the good guys, no matter that they seem to have appeared out of thin air. No one explains who these people who are cited as sources by the New York Times or CNN or Democracy Now are."

Re: War in Libya
the "rebels" are bristish/am/israeli operatives - marxist agitators, educated at oxford and they rove, creating dissention and strife
paving the way for invasions.
notice this time the UN make a quickie declaration and off we went...no discussion, nothing.
suddenly the psychopaths in charge are concerned with human rights...ya right.
sickening

"The BBC's Paul Adams in Washington says:
"Eight years to the day after his predecessor launched the first air strikes against Saddam Hussein's Iraq, President Barack Obama announced that American forces were once again attacking an Arab country.
Despite the fact that French warplanes struck the first blows, it is clear that this early phase of operations is an overwhelmingly American affair. All but a small number of cruise missiles have been fired from American ships and submarines.
But Mr Obama seems anxious that this not be interpreted as yet another American-led foray into the Arab world. The Pentagon says it will transfer command of Operation Odyssey Dawn in the coming days, almost certainly to Nato.
But that will happen only after the Americans have established that the first wave of attacks has done sufficient damage to Libya's air defences for a no fly zone to be safely patrolled."

Apparently its called Operation ODYSSEY DAWN
dawn is mentioned in Homer's Odyssey and symbolically might mean his growing maturity.
Or the 'Forces of Magick and Human Sacrifice' have begun a new stage of mass murder to feed off.
If u go to the wiki page you will be treated to a picture of USS BARRY firing tomahawks - that'll be Barry O'Bomber
It started on the day of the 'Supermoon', so a few sacrificed to Hecate and Molok - yum yum!
The 33rd parallel just top Libya , I guess they'll be shooting their navy guns and crusie missiles from there.

Zone,,,,I'm gonna join you in feeling..just..at my wits end..absolutely disgusted and fed up. It's just unbelievable that this is how its gonna come down from now on. It's just so easy for them to go in with the bombs now...staggering.
The buzz all over cyberspace is just...a feeling of despair. It's happening all over again. We need a rogue stealth bomber to go and destroy the HAARP antennae array. We need armed forces servicemen and woman to say...I'm not gonna do this anymore.
Is this how low we have to go? How much worse is it gonna get? Has satan even been loosed yet? Is this just birth pangs? It's getting very difficult in many countries in the world. It's hard to discern now, what events are being manufactured and which are genuine uprisings.
PLEASE Christians out there.....STOP THROWING YOUR SUPPORT OUT FOR MILITARY ACTION. We should never be involved in it.
Lord Jesus come soon. Give satan his hour of domination and then come and end this mess. I know you are in ultimate control of all things, and everything is working according to your plan, but how many people will turn from your teachings and fall into the traps that you allow satan to set?

Bill Kristol calls for U.S. ground forces in Libya
William Kristol interviewed by Fox News' Chris Wallace:
"Let's talk about the mission," Wallace began. "You heard Admiral Mullen, earlier in the show, say his orders are clear: protect the civilians, don't overthrow Gaddafi. That's not the point. Is that a mistake? Can we live with Gaddafi in any sort of power? He can create a lot of trouble."
"No, we cannot leave Gaddafi in power," Kristol agreed. "And we won't leave Gaddafi in power."
"The immediate military mission, Admiral Mullen correctly described but the political goal is to remove Gaddafi and ultimately military assets will serve that political goal."

Yes, thats the Bill Kristol of PNAC fame. The whole plan is in there.

Re: War in Libya
PNAC GOALS (Source - PDF Online):
We seem to have forgotten the essential elements of the Reagan Administration's success: a military that is strong and ready to meet both present and future challenges; a foreign policy that boldly and purposefully promotes American principles abroad; and national leadership that accepts the United States' global responsibilities.
Of course, the United States must be prudent in how it exercises its power. But we cannot safely avoid the responsibilities of global leadership or the costs that are associated with its exercise. America has a vital role in maintaining peace and security in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. If we shirk our responsibilities, we invite challenges to our fundamental interests. The history of the 20th century should have taught us that it is important to shape circumstances before crises emerge, and to meet threats before they become dire. The history of this century should have taught us to embrace the cause of American leadership.
Our aim is to remind Americans of these lessons and to draw their consequences for today. Here are four consequences:
• we need to increase defense spending significantly if we are to carry out our global
responsibilities today and modernize our armed forces for the future;
• we need to strengthen our ties to democratic allies and to challenge regimes hostile to our interests and values;
• we need to promote the cause of political and economic freedom abroad;
• we need to accept responsibility for America's unique role in preserving and extending an international order friendly to our security, our prosperity, and our principles.

Re: War in Libya
The Lesson the U.S. Is Teaching the World in Libya
In all the discussion about the current U.S. bombing of Libya, something important has gone almost unnoticed—the lesson the United States is teaching the government of every country on earth. That lesson is: no matter what, no matter the inducements or pressure, never ever give up chemical weapons or a nuclear weapons program. Doing so will not ensure that the U.S. does not attack you—on the contrary, it will make it much more likely.
The U.S. already delivered this lesson very powerfully in 2003 by attacking Iraq, a country which had no biological or chemical weapons or nuclear weapons program after 1991, twelve years earlier. Moreover, according to the CIA's 2004 WMD report, Saddam Hussein had begged the Clinton administration for better relations, promising that it would be Washington’s “best friend in the region bar none.” In fact, Iraq said that if it had a security relationship with the U.S., it would be inclined to permanently discard even the ambition for WMD.
In Libya's case, Moammar Gaddafi announced in December, 2003 that it was renouncing all WMD—Libya possessed chemical weapons, ballistic missiles and a nuclear weapons program—and inviting international inspectors to certify its compliance. The U.S. declared that this "demonstrates that, in a world of strong nonproliferation norms, it is never too late to make the decision to become a fully compliant NPT state," and that Libya would be "amply rewarded." From the perspective of many governments, Libya is now receiving its reward, in the form of hundreds of Tomahawk missiles and the likely downfall of the regime that agreed to disarm.
