Gog has referred to many people over time such as the Goths, Celts, Russians, Jews, Mongolians, Khazars, and many of the European countries. It just depends on what side of the fence the name caller is on.

"Given this somewhat frightening Biblical imagery, it is somewhat odd that images of Gog and Magog depicted as giants are carried in a traditional procession in the Lord Mayor's Show by the Lord Mayor of the City of London. According to the tradition, the giants Gog and Magog are guardians of the City of London, and images of them have been carried in the Lord Mayor's Show since the days of King Henry V. The Lord Mayor's procession takes place each year on the second Saturday of November.
The Lord Mayor's account of Gog and Magog says that the Roman Emperor Diocletian had thirty-three wicked daughters. He found thirty three husbands for them to curb their wicked ways; they chafed at this, and under the leadership of the eldest sister, Alba, they murdered them. For this crime, they were set adrift at sea; they were washed ashore on a windswept island, which after Alba was called Albion. Here they coupled with demons, and gave birth to a race of giants, among whose descendants were Gog and Magog." What is up with this?

Gog and Magog


Gog and Magog are the guardians of London. They were two giants who defended Britain when Brutus and the survivors of Troy invaded. The struggle led to the legendary founding of New Troy. The Romans knew this story and the British tribe of London and Essex was known to them as the Trinovantes (Tri - Novante = Troy New)

Two earlier effigies in the Guildhall were destroyed in the Blitz.

The statues of Gog and Magog currently standing in the Guildhall were commissioned from sculptor David Evans after the previous versions were destroyed in the Blitz. The phoenix shield tells us that this is Magog. (click to download)

The previous statues stood for over two hundred years. They were carved by Captain Richard Saunders in 1708 to replace older wicker-and-plaster statues that had succumbed first to fire and then to rats and mice. (click to download)

The Gog and the Magog are a race of people who are different from everyone else. They remain hidden at present but will reveal themselves towards the end time.
My interpretation of who they are is simple. They are Khazars or Ashkenazis.
Think about exactly what the bible says about them.

Christian and Muslim writers sometimes associated the Khazars with Gog and Magog. In his 9th century work Expositio in Matthaeum Evangelistam, the Benedictine monk Christian of Stavelot refers to the Khazars as Hunnic descendants of Gog and Magog, and says they are "circumcized and observing all the laws of Judaism"; the Khazars were a Central Asian people with a long association with Judaism. The 14th century Sunni Muslim scholar Ibn Kathir also identified Gog and Magog with the Khazars who lived between the Black and Caspian Seas in his work Al-Bidayah wa al-Nihayah (The Beginning and the End). A Georgian tradition, echoed in a chronicle, also identifies the Khazars with Gog and Magog, stating they are "wild men with hideous faces and the manners of wild beasts, eaters of blood". Another author who has identified this connection was the Arab traveller Ibn Fadlan. In his travelogue regarding his diplomatic mission to iltäbär (vassal-king under the Khazars), he noted the beliefs about Gog and Magog being the ancestors of the Khazars.

Remember also what it states in the bible Revelations 2:9
There are those who call themselves Jews but they are not Jews.
Instead they belong to the Synagogue of Satan.

Khazars are known to have many practices which match exactly the description of the Gog and Magog.

Point of interest, as you know David Icke talks about shape shifters and lizards. But as i have asked many times before this could also be a reference to the Khazars. People who change their appearance and names and outwards beliefs to blend in with whatever country they happen to be in. People who remain in the shadows never holding the limelight rather pulling the strings from behind the scenes. Only recently have they started coming forward and showing themselves. Like the Miliband brothers, Sarkhozy, and others. This means the end times are coming close.


Dont take this video the wrong way. It clearly shows a person performing a circumcision on a baby. And then actually sucking the cut penis. I dont understand the purpose of this but he is clearly seen wiping his mouth afterwards.
If this is not an example of drinking blood or eating living flesh exactly as written in the Bible about the Gog and Magog.
There is no logical, medical or even religious reason for the man to do this after the circumcision.

At the west end of the Guildhall Great Hall is a gallery, erected in 1910. Atop the west gallery stand two huge carved statues of the legendary giants Gog and Magog, who were supposedly involved in founding the city of London. The richly painted statues are the work of David Evans, and they replace earlier, even larger statues which were destroyed when the Guildhall was hit by bombs during WWII

Who comes seeking the presence of the Most High God, to Jerusalem, city of God, Divinely chosen site of the Holy Temple, eternal capital of our land, "the joy of the entire earth (Psalms 48:3)," may it be rebuilt and established speedily and in our days, Amen!

Esteemed Mr. George W. Bush, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal (Ezekiel 38:1), leader of the west!

Upon your arrival in Jerusalem you have the ability to make a declaration, as did Cyrus, King of Persia - whose memory is honored - who in the year 538 BCE returned the exiled nations to their lands and recognized the full right of the Jewish people to reestablish their Holy Temple, the "house of prayer for all nations" (Isaiah 56:7), and called upon them to return to their land,

And in the manner of Lord James Balfour of England, who in 1917, called upon the Jews to reestablish a national homeland in the Land of Israel.

And thus if you truly desire peace and benevolence, and you would be counted in the company of the truly righteous, we call upon you to declare to all the world:

The Land of Israel was bequeathed to the nation of Israel by the Creator of the world. You certainly know what the God of Israel did to Egypt and Assyria and to all Israel's enemies from time immemorial: Do you imagine that you will be able to save yourself if you have come to implement a plan that intends to steal the land of "the people that survived the sword" (Jeremiah 31:1), and to cut off those who survived the Holocaust, to rob the land that was given to them by the Creator?

All of the peace treaties and initiatives which have been based upon the decisions of the government of Israel, indeed the entire Oslo process, and the 'Disengagement,' and the establishment of a terrorist state within the Land of Israel known as 'Palestine' - regrettably, all of these agreements are the result of a lack of sufficient faith in the Divine promises that the Lord made to the patriarchs of our nation, and all that is written in the Torah of Israel. Understand this well: the nations of the world cannot excuse their actions and their decisions on account of the weakness of Israel and her government. God ordained that the role of the nations of the world is to strengthen the nation of Israel. This will benefit all humanity and bring about world peace, as the prophets have foretold.

Do you imagine you can escape from the struggles in Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Egypt, and Lebanon, by offering up sacrifices of the Jews who are slaughtered daily by their enemies who speak of peace but live by the sword?

Upon your arrival in our land we would anticipate that you bring Jonathan Pollard home with you. Bring him home to Israel. He is an emissary of the State of Israel, and he acted on behalf of our people. Authorize his immediate release while you are yet in Jerusalem, before you return to the United States. This will be a positive step that will build confidence.

Remember our forefather Abraham, who pursued the world's four greatest kings in order to redeem his nephew from captivity. We cannot forget the deeds of our patriarchs, whose example guides us through every generation.

We are the loyal representatives of the Jewish people, the New Jewish Congress, and its court of law, the Sanhedrin, as well as the Temple and Temple Mount movements, but we merely reiterate herein what is public knowledge.

No government in Israel and no representative of the Jewish people has the power or right to alter, by even the slightest degree, our covenant with God and the words of our holy Torah, which are everlasting, as expressed by the prophets of Israel and even by the wicked prophet Balaam: "Then he looked on Amalek, and uttered his oracle, saying: 'First among the nations was Amalek, but its end is to perish for ever' (Numbers 24:20). Thus any desire, plan or agreement that challenges the eternal sovereignty and active possession of the nation of Israel over her entire land is utterly worthless, and has no basis in reality.

Therefore it behooves you to declare: "I, George Bush, Commander in Chief of the armies of the United States of America, will instruct all of my troops to protect the Divine rights of the nation of Israel, and remove from her any threat."

Before you is a choice: You can merit to eternal life, or be inscribed for eternal disgrace. Your fate and that of all those with you hangs in the balance of the destiny of our land.

"and you shall choose life!" (Deut. 30:19).

KINGDOM OF THE KHAZARS
Part I
PROLOG
“Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog,
the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and
prophesy against him.” Ezekiel 38:2

Introduction
“A THOUSAND YEARS before the establishment of the Modern State of Israel, there existed a Jewish kingdom in the eastern fringes of Europe, astride the Don and Volga rivers…” So begins a thesis by Jewish author Kevin Alan Brook. The kingdom of which he speaks appears at first consideration to be comprised of nearly as much disinformation, misinformation, “myth”information, and, curiously, NO-information as there is actual provable historical fact. Yet upon closer scrutiny this kingdom, known as Khazaria, or the Kingdom of the Khazars, is clearly revealed in a vast body of historical evidence, much of which has come to light only in the last three to five decades.




The religion of the Hebrews,” writes John Bury, “had exercised a profound influence on the creed of Islam, and it had been a basis for Christianity; it had won scattered proselytes; but the conversion of the Khazars to the undiluted religion of Jehovah is unique in history.” 38

It is indeed a unique historical event, as Bury claims; however it is also interesting that he should refer to their conversion to Talmudic Judaism as “to the undiluted religion of Jehovah.” It is evident that present-day Ethiopian Jews would disagree with Mr. Bury on this matter since they do not adhere to the precepts of the Talmud, Mishnah, Midrash or any of the extra-biblical writings that have arisen since the close of the Old Testament canon. These Jews of North Africa claim only Torah as their scriptural authority. And, unlike their distant “brothers” of the Talmud, they practice their religion quietly and with relatively no involvement in worldly politics.
According to an ancient document entitled King Joseph’s Reply to Hasdai ibn Shaprut, Joseph (a later Khazarian king) stated that, “From that time on the Almighty God helped him [King Bulan] and strengthened him. He and his slaves circumcised themselves and he sent for and brought wise men of Israel who interpreted the Torah for him and arranged the precepts in order.” 39

There appears to be as many historical accounts as to how King Bulan was converted to Judaism as there are historians and mystics to present them. Many of them involve visions of angels, such as the tale by a Sephardic Jewish philosopher detailing a dream in which an angel told the king that his “intentions are desirable to the Creator” but the continued observance of shamanism was not. 40 In the aforementioned document, King Joseph’s Reply, its author claims that in that same dream God promised King Bulan that if he would abandon his pagan religion and worship the only true God that He would “bless and multiply Bulan’s offspring, and deliver his enemies into his hands, and make his kingdom last to the end of the world”.

It is believed by scholars that the dream was designed to simulate the Covenant in Genesis and meant to imply “that the Khazars too claimed the status of a Chosen Race, who made their own Covenant with the Lord, even though they were not descended from Abraham’s seed.” 41 [emphasis supplied]

King Joseph corroborates this in his document as he claims to have positively traced his family’s ancestry back, not to Shem the father of the “Shemites” or Semite peoples, but to another of Noah’s sons. “Though a fierce Jewish nationalist, proud of wielding the ‘sceptre ofJudah’,” Koestler says, “he cannot, and does not, claim for them Semitic descent; he traces their ancestry…to…Noah’s third son, Japheth; or more precisely to Japheth’s grandson, Togarma, the ancestor of all Turkish tribes.”
Koestler adds a footnote to King Joseph’s genealogical claims that is piercingly relevant to this study: “It also throws a sidelight on the frequent description of the Khazars as the people of Magog. Magog, according to Genesis 10:2-3 was the much maligned uncle of Togarma.” Add to this that two other of the sons of Japheth, the progenitor of the Khazars, are Meshech and Tubal, central figures in biblical prophecies of the end times.

King Joseph’s Reply also revealed that the successor to King Bulan, his son Obediah, “reorganized the kingdom and established the [Jewish] religion properly and correctly,” bringing in numerous Jewish sages who “explained to him the twenty-four books [the Torah], Mishnah, Talmud, and the order of prayers.”

This entrenchment in the Jewish religion outlasted the kingdom itself and was transplanted, whole cloth, into the Eastern European settlements of Russia and Poland. 42

By the end of the 1st century CE Jewish tradition had long since changed Ezekiel's "Gog from Magog" into "Gog and Magog", the ultimate enemies of God's people, to be destroyed in the final battle.^[21] The author of the Book of Revelation tells how he sees in a vision Satan rallying Gog and Magog, "the nations in the four corners of the Earth," to a final battle with Christ and his saints:

When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the Earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore.^[22]

Ezekiel's Gog from Magog was a symbol of the evil darkness of the north and the powers hostile to God,^[2] but in Revelation, Gog and Magog have no geographic location, and instead represent the nations of the world, banded together for the final assault on Christ and those who follow him.^[23]



Qur'an


The Qur'an, in the first half of the 7th century CE, is the last major religious text to give new information on Gog and Magog (or Ya'jūj and Ma'jūj in Arabic). In sura Al-Kahf ("The Cave"), 18:83–98, a mysterious individual called Dhul-Qarnayn ("The Two-horned One") journeys to a distant northern land where he finds a people who are suffering from the mischief of Gog and Magog. Dhul-Qarnayn then makes an iron wall to keep Gog and Magog out, but warns that it will be removed in the Last Age.^[24] In sura 21, Al-Anbiyā (The Prophets), the wall is mentioned again: there Allah tells his Prophet (Mohammed) that there is a "prohibition upon [the people of] a city which We have destroyed that they will [ever] return, until [the dam of] Gog and Magog has been opened and thou shall see them, from every higher ground, descending."^[25] According to Islamic tradition (in Saḥīḥ al-Bukhāri), Gog and Magog are human beings, and the city mentioned in sura 21 is Jerusalem.^[26]



Identifying Gog and Magog


Separate passages in the "Jewish Antiquities" and "Jewish War" of the 1st century CE Jewish historian and scholar Josephus show that Jews of that time identified Gog and Magog with the Scythians: Alexander the Great, Josephus said, locked these horse-riding barbarians of the far north behind the Caucasus mountains with iron gatesA version of this story eventually became the foundation of the Qur'anic tale of Dhul-Qarain, a legendary version of Alexander

Some early Christian writers (e.g. Eusebius) identified Gog and Magog with the Romans Ambrose (d.397) identified them with the Goths,and Isidore of Seville confirmed that people in his day supposed that the Goths were descended from Magog "because of the similarity of the last syllableThe idea that Gog and Magog were connected with the Goths was longstanding; in the mid-16th century, Archbishop of Uppsala Johannes Magnus traced the royal family of Sweden back to Magog son of Japheth,^[ and this opinion was accepted in the Swedish court for centuries. In Magnus' account, two of Magog's sons were Suenno, progenitor of the Swedes, and Gethar (also known as Gog or Gogus), the ancestor of the Goths.

In the 6th century, the Byzantine historian Procopius (d. after 562) saw Attila and the Huns as the nation locked out by Alexander, and a little later other Christian writers identified them with the Saracens

In Gog - They Trust?

On November the 9th 1951, Winston Churchill made a speech at the Lord Mayor of London's Banquet at the Guildhall, marking the occasion of the restoration of the effigies of Gog and Magog to their traditional places of honour in the west end of the Guildhall in the City of London. They had been removed during the Blitz to prevent them from being damaged. Earlier figures had been destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666. The present pair were carved by Richard Saunders in 1708.

"It seems that they (i.e. Gog and Magog) represent none too badly the present state of world politics. World politics, like the history of Gog and Magog, are very confused and much disputed. Still, I think there is room for both of them. On the one side is Gog, and on the other is Magog. But be careful, my Lord Mayor, when you put them back, to keep them from colliding with each other; for if that happens, both Gog and Magog would be smashed to pieces and we should all have to begin all over again and begin from the bottom of the pit." The term 'The Iron Curtain', was coined by Churchill. Rather an appropriate description, for it was a Curtain of Iron which Dhul Qarnain erected to prevent Gog and Magog spreading their terrifying, malevolent corruption in the land.

In a television documentary, covering the world at war, it was disclosed that before the end of World War II, Joseph Stalin (lets say, representing Gog) and Winston Churchill (representing Magog) met at what was called the 'Percentage Conference', at which they exchanged percentages of the various countries they controlled for those they wished to control. For instance, Britain took a 90% share in Greece, in exchange for giving up its 90% control of Rumania. Afterwards, Churchill is reported to have said to Stalin ‑ who, by the way, was a Georgian from the Caucasus:

"Its a pity God didn't consult us when He made the world?"

To which Stalin is said to have replied:

"Yes, and that was His first mistake."

Britain then fermented civil war in Greece in which the Communists, who looked to Stalin for help, were betrayed by him. A reflection of the Arabic root of Gog (Ya'juj) portrays a meaning association of something worthless, like an artificial pearl, as well as rendering something worthless, and of destroying, annihilating and burning out. Zainab bint Jahsh reported that Allah's apostle, upon whom be showered peace, got up from sleep saying:

"'There is a destruction in store for Arabia because of turmoil which is at hand, the barrier of Gog and Magog has opened so much'. And Sufyan made a sign of ten with the help of his hand (in order to indicate the width of the gap) and I said: 'Allah's Messenger, would we be perished in spite of the fact that there would be good people amongst us'? Thereupon he said: 'Of course, but only when the evil predominates'." (Muslim)

The Bible refers to 'Magog' as the second son of Japheth between Gomer and Madai, Gomer representing the Cimmerians, Madai, the Medes. But in the list of nations, Genesis 10, the term connotes rather the complex of barbarian peoples dwelling at the extreme north and north east of the earth as one finds in that chapter; in Ezekiel 39:6, the Magog is referred to as a northern people, the leader of whom is Gog. According to the Jewish Encyclopedia, article 'Gog and Magog', Josephus identifies them with the Scythians, a name which among the classical writers stands for a number of unknown ferocious tribes. According to Jerome, Magog was situated beyond the Caucasus near the Caspian Sea. The barrier referred to in the Hadith and the Qur'an is the famous wall built between Derbend and Darial. It is a very narrow defile, with overhanging rocks, occurring on the main route between Turkestan and India. It is now in Soviet territory in the district of Daghistan. Before the southern expansion of Russia in 1813, it belonged to Persia. A spur of Mount Caucasus here comes up close to the sea. A map showing this particular route is to be found in the opening of Arthur Koestler's book 'The Thirteenth Tribe'. However, Abdullah Yusuf Ali, in his translation of the Qur'an, says in the appendix to Surah 18, The Cave, in which Gog and MaGog are mentioned, that if, as he believes, Dhul Qarnain, or Zul - qarnain was Alexander the Great, then the more likely location for this iron curtain or obstruction, is near another Derbend in Central Asia. He states:

"...I do not consider that historical or geographical considerations have much bearing on a story treated as a Parable, as Zul - qarnain's story is. Indeed all stories or narrations are referred to in the Qur'an as Parables, for their spiritual meaning. Heated controversies or dogmatic assertions as to precise dates, personalities, or localities, seem to me to be out of place."

He further observes:

"The question of Yajuj and Majuj (Gog and Magog) and the iron barrier built to keep them out is of some interest. It is practically agreed that they were the wild tribes of Central Asia which have made inroads on settled kingdoms and Empires at various stages of history. The Chinese Empires suffered from their incursions and built the Great Wall of China to keep out the Manchus and Mongols. The Persian Empire suffered from them at various times and at various points. Their incursions into Europe in large hordes caused migrations and displacements of populations on an enormous scale, and eventually broke up the Roman Empire. These tribes were known vaguely to the Greeks and Romans as "Scythians", but that term does not help us very much, either ethnically or geographically. If we could locate the iron barrier or iron gates referred to in Surah 18, verse 96, we should have a closer idea of the tribes whom the barrier was meant to keep out. The Barrier in the text must have been more in the nature of iron gates than an iron wall. Two Iron Gates, geographically far apart, have been suggested in the alternative. Sometimes they have been mixed up by writers not strong on geography. Both of them have local associations with the name Alexander the Great. Both are near a town Derbend, and have borne the name Bab - ul - hadid (Arabic for "Iron Gate")".

"The best known in modern times is at the town and seaport of Derbend in the middle of the western coast of the Caspian Sea", formerly the Khazar Sea, but "the gate which corresponds exactly to the Quranic description, and has the best claim to be connected with Alexander's story ... is near another Derbend in Central Asia, Hissar District, about 150 miles south - east of Bukhara. A very narrow defile, with overhanging rocks, occurs on the main route between Turkestan and India: Latitude 38N; Longitude 67E. It is now called in Turkic, Buzghol - Khana (Goat House), but was formerly known as the Iron Gate (in Arabic, "Bab - ul - hadid"; in Persian, "Dar - i - ahani; in Chinese "T'ie - men - kuan"). There is no iron gate there now, but there was one in the 7th century, when the Chinese traveller Hiouen Tsiang saw it on his journey to India. He saw two folding gates cased with iron and hung with bells. Near by is a lake Iskander Kul, connecting the locality with Alexander the Great. We know from history that Alexander, after his conquest of Persia and before his journey to India, visited Sogdiana (Bukhara) and Marcanda (Samarkand). We also know from Muqaddasi, the Arab traveller and geographer, who wrote about AH 375 (AD 985 - 6) that the 'Abbasi Khalifa Wathiq (842 - 846 AD) sent out a mission to Central Asia to report on this Iron Gate. They found the defile 150 yards wide: on two jambs made with bricks of iron welded together with molten lead, were hung two huge gates, which were kept closed. Nothing could correspond more exactly with the description in Surah 18, 95 - 96."

"If then, the Barrier in Surah 18, 95 - 98 refers to the Iron Gate near Bukhara, we are able to proceed to a consideration of the Gog Magog people with some confidence. They were the Mongol tribes on the other side of the Barrier, while the industrious men who did not understand Zul - qarnain's language were the Turks, with their agglutinative language, so different from the languages then spoken in Western Asia. The Barrier served its purpose for the time being. But the warning that the time would come when it must crumble to dust has also come true. It has crumbled to dust. Long since, the Mongols pushed through on their westward journey, pushing the Turks before them, and the Turks became a European power and still have a footing in Europe. We need not bother about the legends of the Gog Magog people. They were reputedly giants, and two tiny hills in flat Cambridgeshire are derisively called the Gog Magog hills! Similarly the statues of Gog Magog in the Guildhall in London, which Maulana Muhammad Ali takes so seriously, only remind us how legends are apt to grow and get transported to strange places. In the Alexander legends of medieval Europe, Gog and Magog are said to have come with 400,000 men to the help of Porus whom Alexander defeated, They fled to the mountains, and Alexander built a wall with brass gates to prevent their irruptions."
On page 115 of 'The Cavendish Encyclopedia of Mythology', we find a 14th - century 'Mongol' painting linking Alexander with Gog and Magog. The caption reads:

"The legends of Alexander the Great seem to have inspired the exploits of a number of Arabian and non - Arabian warrior kings called Dhul - Qarnayn, one of whom is mentioned in the Qur'an. In this 14th - century Il - Khanid 'Mongol' painting, Iskandar (Alexander) is shown extending his realm into the northern regions perpetually shrouded by fog beyond the Caucasus on the route to Gog and Magog."

The link, between Gog & Magog, Goemagog, Gog MacGog, (Mac, meaning son of) or Yajuj * Majuj, with England, was made by Geoffrey of Monmouth in his 'History of The Kings of Britain', around 1136 A.D. The two figures now standing in the Guildhall of the City of London have been officially known as Gog and Magog for the past 300 years. So was Geoffrey of Monmouth just being "inventive" or is there any additional evidence to support his assertion that Britain, particularly the occupants of the Palace of Brute, now The City of London's Guildhall, bear any resemblance to their namesakes - Gog & MacGog, (Yajuj & Majuj)? It might be a valid interpretation of the iron gate that would keep GogMagog at bay until they manage to overcome it, on a day when according to the Qur'an "people will mingle with each other like waves", that it is the mastery of iron, i.e. modern technology, that finally gave them the upper hand in world affairs after the industrial revolution.

In a recent letter to Frank McManus (the present Lord Mayor of Todmorden), John Clark, Curator of Medieval London History and Collections at the Museum of London, pointed out that the link with the City of London and the giant Goemagog goes back to 1558, when wickerwork effigies of Goemagog and his captor, the Trojan Corineus, were carried around The City in the Lord Mayors' processions. In 1558 they were placed at Temple Bar to welcome Queen Elizabeth the Ist on a visit to The City of London having been used earlier on, to welcome Queen Mary and Philip II of Spain at London Bridge in 1554.

Giants have appeared in civic processions in London for more than five centuries, according to Jennifer Westwood, in her book 'Albion. A Guide To Legendary Britain'. In 1415 a pair welcomed Henry V home after Agincourt. Prior to 1554 they seem to have been called Sampson and Herculese. But in Tudor times the more ancient legends of Albion - the earlier name for Britain - came to the fore, and with them, the names of Gog Magog - Gog the Son of Gog.

The story has it, that, Feniusa Farsa was, according to Robert Graves in his 'The White Goddess', "an ancestor of the Irish Milesians". "Why", he says "is Feniusa Farsa described as a Scythian, a grandson and founder of the Milesian race? Gog and Magog are closely connected names. 'GogMagog', Gog the son of Gog - was the name of the giant whom 'Brute the Trojan' is said to have defeated in Totnes in Devonshire in his invasion of Britain at the close of the second millennium. But from where did Gog mac Gog originate. The answer is to be found in Genesis X,2, where Magog is described as the son of Japheth (who figures in Greek myth as Iapetus the Titan, the father of the goddess Asia of Atlas, Prometheus and Epimetheus) and as a brother of Gomer, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meschec and Tiras - who are generally agreed to have been the Cimmerians, the Medians, the Ionians, the Tibarenians, the Moschians and the Tyrrhenians. The Moschians and the iron - working Tibarenians were tribes of the south - eastern Black - Sea region; the wandering Black - Sea tribe of Cimmerians eventually became the Cymry; the Ionians ranked as Greeks in historical times but were perhaps Aegean immigrants into Greece from Phonecia; the Tyrrhenians were an Aegean tribe some of whom emigrated from Lydia to Etruria... Gog is identified with the northern tribe of Gagi mentioned in an inscription of Amenhotep III, and 'Gogarene', in Strabo's day, was the part of Armenia, lying to the east of the territory of the Moschians and Tibarenians. Magog's grandfather was Noah, and Noah's Ararat [of course Noah's ark landed on mount Judi] was in Armenia, so that Magog is usually held to stand for Armenia; though Josephus interprets the word as meaning 'the Scythians', which was an inclusive name for all the Black Sea tribes of his day." This follows on from an earlier mention of Magog where he quotes the following from Keating's 'History of Ireland':

"Feniusa Farsa, a grandson of Magog and King of Sythia, desirous of mastering the seventy - two languages created at the confusion of Babel sent seventy - two persons to learn them."

Another point worth remembering, is the fact that in Gaelic, Jesus is called Isa Mac Maryam - Jesus the Son of Mary.

Another interesting fact is that many words in Irish are similar to Urdu and Persian. Ireland is supposed to be the Land of the Aryans. In Dublin you can find Aryan symbols. The Swastika Laundry for example; and some Irish script is similar to Indian.

It is also interesting to note, that, when Mikhail Gorbachev addressed a gathering at a Guildhall banquet in the City of London, mention was made of "our common European home...". From the foregoing, we can see that Gog and Magog at one level, is a blanket term for all the people of Central Asia, Russia, including the earlier Scythians and the present day survivors of the Khazars, the Ashkenazi Jews. What ever the case may be, Gog and Magog were considered to be descendants of Noah, and as such, human beings; albeit, rather tall. Similar, perhaps, in stature to Goliath, the Giant killed by the Holy Prophet David, peace be upon him. Whether or not they were all tall, the fact remains that men of giant, stature and formidable military prowess existed, and are made mention of in both the Bible and the Qur'an. It could, of course, simply be a metaphorical reference to their military achievements, like those other military "giants" Alexander and Genghis Khan. There is evidence to support the claim that they were the Mongol precursors of Genghis Khan, thwarted by Alexander or Dhul - Qarnain, who still survive. We often hear Shakespeare being referred to as one of the "giants of literature", but he was, to the best of our knowledge, of average height physically.

Following hard on the heals of finding the Ark of Noah, located as stated in the Qur'an on Mount Judi, and corresponding exactly to the biblical dimensions of 300 cubits long x 50 wide (515ft x 135ft), which have recently been carbon dated as being 100,000 years old, we have yet another archaeological find of major significance, which establishes that some accounts in the unaltered scriptures can be taken as literal truth. In 'Wake up!' a publication by 'British Israel', July/August 1994, we find the following information:

"Goliath's skull found near Jerusalem: The Kingdom Times, Belfast, May 1994, carried the story of how a leading archaeologist had found Goliath's scull in a valley west of Jerusalem with the stone from David's slingshot still embedded in his forehead! Dr. Richard Martin says the discovery proves that David's battle with the 10 - foot giant happened just like the Bible said it did, 1,000 years before the birth of Yahshua... " This is the archaeological find of the century, if not of all time," Dr.Martin told reporters at a conference in Jerusalem. "Many people, including scholars and clergymen, would have us believe that the biblical account of David and Goliath is little more than an interesting piece of fiction," he said. "But we found this skull in the valley of El'ah, in the Judean mountains, where David's battle with Goliath was said to have taken place. Even more intriguing, the skull is huge and clearly belonged to a man of enormous stature... And if you believe the Bible, you know that Goliath was 9 feet 8 inches tall... But the most telling piece of evidence is the small round rock we found embedded in the forehead. The Bible tells that David killed Goliath with a stone thrown from a leather sling." Dr.Martin found the skull during an archaeological survey 20 miles south - west of Jerusalem on the 23rd of March, 1993. He and his assistants instantly realized that the find was important; but, it was only when they had performed tests which showed the skull to be between 2,900 and 3,000 years old that they began to think they had found the remains of Goliath. "As I said before, the skull that we had found had a rock stuck in the forehead. There was also evidence to suggest that the head had been severed from the body by a sharp object, most likely a sword. There can be little doubt that this is Goliath's skull. To be perfectly frank, I'm staking my career on it," said Dr.Martin.

It seems difficult to deny, that Gog -Magog are descendants of Noah, upon whom be peace, along with the rest of us. They were, and still are, a people with an overriding desire, and ability to create mischief, havoc and corruption as the means of attaining their objectives. Objectives, which, they believe, always justify the means. It is interesting to note that when discussing the various prophetic traditions about Gog and Magog, the tafsir of Al - Qurtubi, identifies them as the Slavs as the main group of descendants of Japheth, which throws yet another ray of light on the current conflict in the former Yugoslavia as well as previous events in the Balkans that destroyed world peace. Many of the Ahadith quoted describe the tribes of Gog and Magog as numerous and ferocious people who will degenerate into wild and bestial ways.

Further light is shed on the information given by Robert Graves, in the footnotes to Genesis, in the Scofield reference bible. It states:

"A prophetic declaration is made that from Japheth will descend the "enlarged" races (Gen.9:27). On Genesis 10.2, it gives as the descendants of the 'Sons of Japheth' the following tribes:

1. Gomer, Progenitor of the ancient Cimerians and Cimbri, from whom are descended the Celtic family.

2. Magog: From Magog are descended the ancient Scythians, or Tartars, whose descendents predominate in the modern Russia."

Note: Tartar, The New Encyclopedia informs us, was the name employed in China and medieval Europe for the mounted nomads of Central Asia. "Under Gengis Khan and his successors they established the empire of Tartary and from 1238 to 1462 they dominated Eastern Europe. In the form Tartar the name survives in Russian use... The Tartar Republic is an autonomous republic of the USSR. It is situated between the Chuvash and Bashkir and was formed in 1920. Kazan is the capital. People of Turkic speech". "Tartary. The Name, formerly used to describe the land between the Pacific and the Dnieper River which constituted the Mongol Empire. In terms of cities sacked and lands conquered, the Mongols were the mightiest of all the nomadic peoples. In 1206, Temujin, the son of a Mongol chief, who was slain, united the Mongol tribes under his unchallenged leadership. In that same year he was declared Gengis Khan, 'Ruler of the World'." Genkis Khan's pillaging conquests are well known. Continuing in true Ma'Gogian tradition, the Merciless Great Khan, Timur, had 20,000 people massacred after taking Baghdad in 1401. These descendants of the Gog and Ma'Gog family created the largest empire in history. Other branches would keep up the family business. Genghis Cohen perhaps?

5 .Tubal: Tubal's descendants peopled the region south of the Black Sea, from whence they spread north and south. It is possible that Tobolsk perpetuates the tribal name. A branch of this race peopled Spain.

6. Meshech: Progenitor of a race mentioned in connection with Tubal, Magog, and other northern nations. Broadly speaking, Russian, excluding the conquests of Peter the Great and his successors, is the modern land of Magog, Tubal, and Meshech."

7. Tiras: Progenitor of the Thracians."

From these seven sons of Japheth are descended the 'goyim', or Gentile, nations, translated "heathen" 148 times in the Bible. In Genesis 10:3, we find another name related to the present world's problems: That of Ashkenaz, son of Gomer. In the present State of Israel it is a fact that the Ashkenazi, or Gentile Jews, greatly outnumber the Orthodox, Semitic Jews, Giving rise to the assertion that Genesis 9:27, is now a fact of life. It states:

"God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem".

"The liberation of Eastern Europe and the former USSR is good news, but a sad consequence has been a resurgence of anti - Semitism, with stirrings even in Britain fanned by the Maxwell scandals. In fact 'Cap'n Bob', like most Jews, probably did not have much more than a fluid ounce of genuine Jewish blood in his veins. Anti - Semitism is built on a powerful racial myth, accepted by Jews and anti - Semites alike.

Christianity in the Old World is divided mainly on ethnic lines, with the Orthodox Churches in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, and the Catholic and Protestant Churches in the West. So also the Jewish world is divided into Sephardim and Ashkenazim. The Sephardim are so called because they once lived in Spain (Sepharad) until expelled, and thence in the Mediterranean, Turkey, and the Low Countries (and from there to England). The prosperous Spanish Jews had intermarried a lot with Gentile nobles. There were also many Jews who had settled in Italy and elsewhere in the Mediterranean by New Testament times, and their numbers were increased by refugees from Byzantium. Their descendants remained in these countries until eventually expelled.

The largest group is the Ashkenazim in Eastern Europe. In the Bible Ashkenaz is not descended from Shem but Japheth, and Ashkenaz refers to a people living around Mount Ararat and Armenia. In the last century there were very large numbers of Jews in Russia and Eastern Europe. How did they get there? Received wisdom is that they were forced eastwards from France and Germany into Poland, the Balkans, Lithuania and Russia. But there were few Jews in France and Germany to migrate, and European migrations have actually gone from east to west. In the Middle Ages the Khazars, a people of Turkish stock, formed a great empire from the Black Sea to the Caspian, and from the Caucasus to the Volga. They found themselves between the triumphant followers of Muhammad and the forces of Christian Byzantium. They resisted both, and converted to Judaism. Pre - Christian Austria was even said to have been ruled by Jewish princes, and a Byzantine chronicle tells of Hungarian troops observing the Jewish Law. By the 11th Century the Khazar Empire had begun to crumble although it lasted into the 13th. Like the Jews of the Levant, the Khazars lived amid the great trade routes and engaged in commerce; like them too they kept their Judaic faith. Some remained in Russia: most went to the Balkans, Lithuania and Poland, and on to Germany.

It is these who form the origin of the millions of Jews who lived in Eastern Europe. All kinds of evidence supports this. Yiddish, a mixture of Hebrew, Polish and German, contains no word of Franco - Rhenish origin. The hook nose is typical not of the Levant but the Caucasus. There is no one Jewish racial type: in each area Jews conform to the Gentile type among whom they live. 'Anthropology concurs with history in refuting the popular belief in a Jewish race descended from the biblical tribe,' wrote Arthur Koestler 16 years ago in 'The Thirteenth Tribe' but his words were as distasteful to Jews as to their enemies. Shamir is busy peopling the West Bank with Russian Jews of non - Semitic origin, Russian pogroms were against people of Khazar - Turkish stock, Hitler's holocaust was a massacre of non - Semites. Maxwell, a Czech Jew, would have had a similar kind of genetic fingerprint."

Bishop Montefiore should know, he is, after all, of Jewish stock. Which is why Mrs. Thatcher called him her 'Jewish Arch Bishop'. The Scythian, Ashkenazi - Khazar, Robert Maxwell, was certainly guilty of betraying and defrauding countless thousands of countless millions. But, this surely pales into insignificance at the side of the damage inflicted on us by that other False - Israelite, the late, Lord Victor Rothschild, who, at long last, has finally been identified as 'The Fifth Man', alongside the other four Cambridge spies: Guy Burgess, Donald Maclean, Kim Philby, and Anthony Blunt. He was correctly identified as "Britain's greatest traitor", in The Daily Express, on Saturday, October 15th 1994. Hardly surprising, in true Rothschild fashion, he was able to run with the hare and bite with the hounds. For this 3rd Lord Rothschild, of the mighty banking dynasty, was a member of MI5, Israeli Intelligence, the Mossad, the KGB, and an agent - runner for heads of MI6. For a banker, split allegiances do not represent a conflict of interests. They are essential if you are in the business of money lending. Bankers always create conflicts in order to finance both sides.

After all these years of investigating the question of Gog and Magog, we still find some matters unresolved. However, what can be safely said is that the sons of Japheth will be responsible for bringing about the ultimate catastrophe - at the Hill of Megido i.e., Armageddon (Palestine).

If, as would seem to be the case, the 'Tents of Shem' are now occupied by The Sons of Japheth, (Genesis 9:27), then the scene must surely be set for the final showdown. Although Judaism, should not have anything to do with the idea of racial superiority, over the centuries, this has become so, and is one of mankind's abiding errors. Apart from the evidence, identifying the Khazars as non - Semitic; their choice of the term Ashkenazi, immediately places them in the Gentile camp. For Ashkenaz, as we have seen, is identified in Genesis 10:3, as the first born of Gomer, who was the first born of Japheth:

"And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath and Torgomah."

Therefore, the vast majority of the inhabitants of the State of Israel can legitimately be called - Gog and Ma'Gog, who reject Christ and the religion of Abraham, and oppress Muslims. Therefore, they are the vanguard of anti - Christ. And who, but a Zionist sycophant, could deny their historic, despotic credentials.

In his 9th century work Expositio in Matthaeum Evangelistam, the Benedictine monk Christian of Stavelot refers to the Khazars as Hunnic descendants of Gog and Magog, and says they are "circumcized and observing all [the laws of] Judaism";[25] the Khazars were a Central Asian people with a long association with Judaism. In remarks delivered before the Senate Foreign Relations
Committee 02/01/07, Dr. Zbignew Brezinski said:

The war in Iraq is a historic, strategic, and
moral calamity. Undertaken under false
assumptions, it is undermining America's
global legitimacy. Its collateral civilian
casualties as well as some abuses are
tarnishing America's moral credentials.
Driven by Manichean impulses and imperial
hubris, it is intensifying regional instability…
If the United States continues to be bogged
down in a protracted bloody involvement
in Iraq, the final destination on this downhill
track is likely to be a head-on conflict with
Iran and with much of the world of Islam
at large… A mythical historical narrative
to justify the case for such a protracted and
potentially expanding war is already being
articulated…"
"El Diablo" is on the verge of starting another war, this
one with Iran. Stepping into the gap to try to head it off,
is no angel but an aging Cold-war Warrior. It is indicative
of how truly grim the situation is, that he felt compelled to
do so. All the same, some 30% of the electorate blithely
continue on their merry way, giving their unreserved backing
to the Administration's war policies.

Washington-based religion and public
life research centre, said: "The 2004
exit poll showed that a whopping 78%
of white evangelicals voted for President
Bush and that they comprised 23% of
the overall electorate, making them
by far the single most potent voting
block in the electorate."

Were it not for the backing of religious folk from the
Protestant Fundamentalist camp, there would be no war.
What Brezinski dismisses as a "mythical historical narrative,"
in their eyes, is not mythical at all but in keeping with their
understanding of God's revealed will. In this regard, they
believe a climactic battle is just around the corner, one
between the forces of evil represented by "Gog and Magog"
and the forces of Light and Goodness, the latter made up of
good folk like themselves.

Further fueling the drive to war is the Fundamentalists'
unlimited support for the secular Zionist State. However
murderous or shabby it may be, to them it represents God's
prophetic fulfillment to His chosen people. Said Luis Lugo,
the director of the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life
of this phenomenon:
I can tell you, from all of our polling, that
no issue more encapsulates an evangelical
view of the world than the United States'
relationship to Israel. I have had evangelical
leaders say that George Bush can do just
about everything and not alienate his base,
except on the issue of Israel.

It's apparent from the above finding why they're called
"Christian Zionists." But they are not Christian Zionists in
the oldeer sense of wishing to win the Holy Land for
Christendom (as was the case a 1000 years ago during the
Crusader period) nor do they seek to win the Land for Jesus
by persuasive means; rather, they are "proxy-Zionists" who
wish to win the Holy Land for unbelieving Jews. It's an
open question to what extent theirs is the faith once for all
delivered to the saints, and to what extent they are
participants in a death-dealing, doomsday cult of recent
derivation.
If we just let our vision of the world go forth,
and we embrace it entirely and we don't try
to piece together clever diplomacy, but just
wage a total war ... our children will sing great

That is Zionism in a nutshell, "total war" on behalf of
a self-serving goal, that being to rule the world from
Jerusalem. Presumably Perle, the Zionist, would be good
to his own children but - in plotting aggressive, unjust
war - he has made himself an unholy terror to the
neighbors' children. Ethnic cleansing, dead American
soldiers, the maiming of civilians seem to be a matter of
no moment to a "pragmatist" of his stripe for whom the
end always justifies the means. Conversely, it is the place
of all moral Jews and all moral Christians to affirm that
all God's children are valued in God's eyes.

Undergirding the fundamentalists' religio-political
movement is a theological construct known as
"Dispensationalism." A totally artificial prism through
which the Bible is viewed, it is a system that promotes
such impossibilities as a "Dispensation of Law" and a
"Dispensation of Grace," as if Law and Grace were ever,
or could ever, be separated. An intricate, even arcane,
hermeneutic, Dispensationalism is not, as some might
suppose, "that old time religion," but a Johnny-come-
lately, 19th Century novelty with which neither the Bible
not Church fathers, nor the major creeds - whether the
Apostles Creed, the Nicene Creed, or the Westminster
Confession of Faith - know anything about or could
have ever fathomed. Numbering between 20 to 25 million,
the Dispensationalists constitute Bush's core constituency.

One of the novelties of the Dispensationalist belief
system is the idea that it is the place of believers to
advance End Time prophecy, as if this were a moral
imperative. Moral imperative attaches to healing the
sick or feeding the hungry, not to starting apocalyptic
wars so as to bringing prophecy to pass. What motivates
them is the puerile belief in "the pre-tribulation rapture"
which will leave them sitting pretty while everyone else
burns. What they are unaware of is that this is a wholly
made-up doctrine for which there is not one iota of
Biblical support. What I hope to do hereafter is to rescue
the truth of the Bible from their fetid hands by appeals
to reason and Scripture.

This we know and can trace historically, that Zionism
and Dispensationalism are inextricably linked, having
arisen at the same time and place, (mid-19th Century
Great Britain, and both were sponsored by the same elite
establishment. As it were, they are two horns grown from
the same head, that being Anglo-Israelism. As such they
compliment each other in curious ways. On the one hand,
the intellectual foundation for the Jewish return is provided
by Christian Dispensationalists. By returning to the Land,
the Jews provide the Dispensationalists with the visible
"proof" they need that their system of exegesis is approved
of God. The Jewish Zionists, through their control of the
mass media also provide Dispensationalist ministers the
oxygen of publicity. Hence, a platform for Jerry Falwell,
or Frank Graham, etc. while these clergymen merchandise
their flock to raise up canon fodder for the Jews.

While we often think of Zionism in terms of being a
19th Century political movement to establish a homeland
for the Jewish people, yet in reality, its history long predates
our times. After the Temple's destruction by the Romans
in 70 AD, Mount Zion was deliberately left vacant and in
ruins for almost 600 years, first by pagan Rome, then by
Christian Byzantines as a sign of God's judgment against
the Jews. But then, following the Muslim conquest led by
Omar ibn al-Khattab in 638 AD, the order went forth to
clear the Temple site. Some 50 years later, the Dome of
the Rock was constructed, not as a mosque, but as a house
of prayer. This then was Muslim Zionism.

Then in 1090 AD, the crusaders took possession of the
Temple Mount, converting the Dome of the Rock into a
Christian Church called the Templum Domini i.e., "Temple
of our Lord." This then was Christian Zionism and so it
remained until Saladin's army retook Jerusalem in 1187 AD
and restored the Dome to Islam.

Later, in 1492 Christopher Columbus set sail to distant
parts in search of treasure. Immediately on finding the
source of the Natives' gold, he enslaved all the Americans
he could lay his hands upon and worked them to death to
mine it, but his motive was not, as some have surmised,
personal enrichment for he was a religious zealot who had
taken to wearing a Franciscan habit and referring to himself
by the title "Christ-bearer." His expressed intention was
to fund an expedition to retake the Holy Land. In this he
was acting as an agent to King Ferdinand of Spain, who,
on his deathbed, in 1516 told his minions that he could not
die yet, that God had told him that he would lead a great
crusade to recapture Jerusalem but he died a disappointed
man.

What then is Zionism? It is the impulse to seize the
religious high ground, to be king of the mountain, of which
none stands higher in the eyes of monotheists than that
of the Temple mount in Jerusalem. It matters not whose
Zionism it is, whether Muslim, Christian, Jewish, or any
other, for it necessarily entails cancelling God's Judgment
of 70 AD. Most Jews know it's sacrilege to trample the
Temple's precincts, yet Zionism is enticing them on in that

If present-day "Christian Zionism" is "proxy-Zionism,"
so also is Jewish Zionism merely "placeholder Zionism."
The Jews emigrate to the Land in order to wrest it from
its native, Arab inhabitants that they might have it for
themselves but then, in due course, they too will get shoved
aside, for from the beginning the plan has been to replace
Judaism by a universal Zionism more suitable to the task
of melding all the peoples in the world into one religious
system. For that is the goal: a one-world religion, a one-
world economic system, a one-world government for this
suits the overweening ambitions of the New York money

One hotbed of Zionist sentiment is Anglo-Israelism.
It entails the belief that the British royal family are
descendants of the Merovingian dynasty. Presumably, this
line descends from the physical union of Jesus and Mary
Magdalene. It further believes, that their offspring are
ordained by God one day to rule the world from the revived
Davidic throne in Jerusalem. (Recently these concepts
have been given common coin in the Da Vinci Code, for
the book and movie each reached audiences in excess of
50 million.) All of this stands on its head the egalitarianism
of Jesus' "little flock," his summoned-out community.
However anachronistic it may seem to us, the concept
of the Divine Right of Kings still resonates in certain
circles of privilege.

Meanwhile, sucker-puched Zionists (whether Jewish
or Christian, whether Neo-Cons or Theo-Cons) are
making common cause for both depend on an apocalyptic
"clash of civilizations" (actually a clash of religions) to
bring about their respective visions of a "New World Order"
ruled from Jerusalem. With this in mind that a nuclear
war against Iran is imminent, on 01/17/07, the Bulletin of
the Atomic Scientists appropriately moved the minute
hand on its "doomsday clock" two minutes closer to

I do not take Rev. Hagee, a nationally known minister of
the Word, to task for resorting to Holy Writ as his source
for prophetic understanding, for it is written:

Surely YHVH will do nothing, but he revealeth
his secrets unto his servants the prophets.

but I do take Rev. Hagee to task for the way he reads the
Bible, perceiving that he grossly perverts its meaning.

Inasmuch as Hagee has invoked the names "Gog and
Magog," I think it appropriate to repair to the only two
books in thew Bible mentioning them - Ezekiel and
Revelation - and this in only three chapters. Also there
is also a single, but significant, mention of Magog in
Genesis 10:2-3. In other words, this subject can be
investigated without the need for doing a long, involved
study. But let us be sure to consider both Ezekiel, chapters
38 and 39 and Revelation, chapter 21 in tandem, side-by
-side, (something fundamentalists often fail to do), for
then it will become readily apparent that the Scriptural
time-frame cannot be squared with the Dispensationists'
time-frame.

Thus reads Revelation:
And when the thousand years are expired,
Satan will be loosed out of his prison, and
shall go out to deceive the nations which
are in the four corners of the earth, Gog
and Magog, to gather them together to battle:
the number of whom is as the sand of the
sea. And they went up on the breadth of
the earth, and compassed the camp of the
saints about, and the beloved city: and fire
came down from God out of heaven, and
devoured them all. (Revelation 21:7-9)

Once this straightforward statement is accepted, then
one cannot be buffaloed so easily by Zionists and their
Dispensational allies (who overlap for they are often one-
and-the-same) into supporting their nefarious wars.
Anyone who says to us, "Gog and Magog is at hand,"
should be pointed in the direction of the verse above or
better yet, taken by the hand and shown it, then, gently
informed, "Sorry, but it would appear that you're more
than a 1000 years off in your prediction."

Writing in 1911, T. B. Baines in his 5th edition of The
Revelation of Jesus Christ, wrote regarding the John's
Apocalypse:

Gog and Magog are here used in a wider sense
than in Ezekiel, and their invasions differ in
time and details, though agreeing in character
and object, with that which he foretells.

Apparently in his opinion, the Gog and Magog of John's
Revelation is not the same as in Ezekiel. More recently,
concurring in this view, Dallas Theological Seminary's
celebrated Dispensationalist theologian, John F. Walvoord,
in his book, also titled, The Revelation of Jesus Christ,
claimed two Gogs and two Magogs:

Ezekiel's battle probably occurs previous to the
battle of the great day of God Almighty before
the millennium, whereas this [in John's
Revelation] occurs after the thousand years
have been finished.

That the End Time's sequence of events has been, and
remains, an unsolved riddle is evident from the book The
Magog Invasion. Written by Couer d'Alene's fundamentalist,
teacher/evangelist/organizer, Chuck Missler, it states:
The sudden appearance of "Gog" in the Ezekiel
text, without any apparent background from
other passages, has puzzled commentators for
centuries.

So what is one to do when an apparent discrepancy is
identified, in this instance, between Ezekiel's and Revelation's
Gog and Magog accounts? Should we grant Revelation
precedence for being more recently written or should we
follow the Law of First Mention whereby a Scriptural
designation is that which it was first defined as being, and
grant Ezekiel's account precedence? Some have concluded
that Scripture is inherently conflicted and have given up
seeking any rhyme or reason to it whatever. In this instance,
there's reason to look to the manuscript record as a way of
clearing up this apparent discrepancy, for there is reason to
believe that deliberate tampering has occurred.

These are the facts: in 1871 a 5th Century AD Latin
palmpiset codex came to public attention, published in
Vienna by Ernst Rasnke, as "Palimpsetorum Wirceburgensis:
Antiquuissimae Veretis Testamenti Versionis Latinae
Fragmenta." Denominated "Codex Wiceburgensis," it
provides the best text of the Vetus Latina, that is, the Old
Latin, that we know of. This then is the ordering of its
text in Ezekiel:
Chapter 36:1-15: regeneration of the Land; 36:16-23b:
regeneration of the people (but 36:23c-38, a
transitional section found in "canonical" Ezekiel
is absent from Wirceburgensis and its allied texts.)
Chapter 38: two prophesies against Gog;

Chapter 39:1-20; a third prophecy against Gog: 39:21-
29: Israel's Return.
Chapter 37:1-14; a vision of the Valley of Dry Bones;
37:15-28; the two Sticks.
The existence of this one, seemingly aberrant, text did
not register greatly with scholars, at least not initially, but
then, in 1931, a Greek 3rd Century papyrus text, denominated
"P967," surfaced. It contains the oldest copy of Ezekiel we
currently have. Lo and behold, it too has the same ordering
of the text as does Codex Wirceburgensis, only the latter's
text is less corrupted and more complete, a sure indication
that antecedent to both the Latin codex and the Greek
papyrus was an older text of the same, general family.

Another salient point - both the Latin and Greek
manuscripts lack Ezekiel 36:23c-38. Were it only a matter
of text having been transposed, one might suppose that an
accident had occurred involving leaves falling from a
manuscript which were then picked up and put back together
out of order or that a careless scribe went off to lunch and
forgot where he left off on returning but something more
is going on. Filler has been added to bridge and smooth
the gap between Ezekiel 36:23b and Ezekiel 37:1. That
cannot be written off as mere happenstance or as
inadvertence either

Then, more recently, amongst the Dead Sea Scrolls was
found what is called Pseudo-Ezekiel, the oldest copy of
which is 4Q391, which is dated paleographically to the
late 2nd Century BC. Not Ezekiel but modeled on Ezekiel,
Pseudo-Ezekiel, according to Dr. Devorah Dimant in the
book Qumran Cave 4, XXI: Parabiblical Texts, Psudo-
Prophetic Texts, page 312, follows not canonical Ezekiel's
order but what I shall now term "archaic" Ezekiel an
appropriate name, I think, for a text having a goodly claim
to preserving the original order.

Arises then the question, who would tamper with
Ezekiel's text and why? Evidently someone wanted the
vision of the "Valley of Dry Bones" and the joining of the
"Two Sticks," those being Judah and Israel, to happen
before the battle with Gog and Magog. We cannot at this
late date say with absolute certainty what someone's
motivations were who lived that long ago, but it would
seem by way of an educated guess, that this involved the
desire to foreshorten the Dispersion following the Fall of
Jerusalem in 70 AD. Not only that, it would have to be
someone who had the power to control the manuscript
tradition. Only one party I know of comes to mind, namely,
the late 1st Century, rabbinical academy perating under
Rabbi Yohannon ben Zakkai's auspices, which was located
in the costal village called Yavnah. This academy is
thought to have decided what is or is not "canonical." I
would identify their activities as being the first, tentative
stirrings of the current Zionist movement.

Now let us move on to consider how secure the sequence
of End Time events really are. According to Dr. Thomas
Ice, one of the Dispensationalists' heaviest hitters, has 20
books to his credit. His Th.M was from Dallas Theogical
Seminary and his Ph.D. is from Tyndale Theological
Seminary:

The battle of Gog and Magog in Ezekiel 38 and
39 is one of the most debated items in the area
of biblical prophecy. Commentator Ralph
Alexandr said, "One of the perennial enigmas
of Biblical prophecy is has been the Gog and
Magog event described in Ezekiel 38 and 39."
Almost every aspect of this ancient prophecy
has been disputed, including whether it was
fulfilled in the past or is still a future prophecy.
Who are the peoples involved and do they relate
to modern nations? How should we understand
the weapons that are described? If a future
event, when does it take place on the prophetic
timeline?

Prophecy expert, Mark Hitchcock notes: "By
far, the most controversial issue in Ezekiel
38-39 is the setting or timing of the invasion.
The specific time of the invasion in Ezekiel
38 is difficult to determine." Tim LaHaye
and Jerry Jenkins in their best-selling novel
Left Behind, invasion of Israel right before
the rapture of the church. The strength of
this position is that it accounts for the burning
of the weapons of war for seven years as
mentioned in Ezekiel 39:9. However, Tim
LaHaye has told me personally that even
though they represented a pre-rapture
position on Ezekiel 38 and 39 in their novel,
he tends to place it after the rapture but
before the tribulation.

Another major argument is based upon the
statement that Israel will be "living securely,
all of them" (Ezek. 38:8), which is the result
of the false peace brought by the anti-Christ
in the first half of the tribulation. This view
has a lot in its favor. The last major view is
that the battle of Ezekiel 38 and 39 will occur
at the end of the millennium. The basis for
this view is significant since Revelation 20:
7-9 speaks of a conflict at the end of the
millennium when Satan is released. Verse
8 says, "(Satan) will come out to deceive the
nations which are in the four corner of the
earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them
together for the war . . ." The strength of
this view is obvious, Gog and Magog are
specifically mentioned in the text.

How plain is that? About as plain as mud, yes? As we can
see, big question marks remain regarding Gog and Magog's
identity. Are we sure that we've got "the bad guys" properly
ID'ed? Misidentifying Gog and Magog, who they are supposed
to be, and from whence they're suppose to hail, can only result
in unjust wars. It seems to me we owe it to ourselves, as well
as to anyone else, to get our identifications right before going
on a killing spree. This much we know from Genesis 10:3,
that Magog is one of Japheth's sons. That means he's
Caucasian. Beyond that, there's little to go on that's obvious.

There is the Hashemite Kingdom Theory, the Caucus
Theory, the All Europe theory, the Russian Theory, the
Indo-European Theory, etc. In the Middle Ages, Christians
saw the Mongel invaders as Gog and Magog. A 1000 years
earlier, Josephus identified the Scythians as being Gog. In this
we start to see a pattern, Josephus was a Roman citizen and the
Scythians were Rome's enemy. Certain apocalyptic web sites
identify Bin Laden as Gog (that despite his excellent credentials
for being a Semite!) Some Muslims identify the West in
general as being Gog and Magog, and so it goes.
... when the Scythians threatened, it was the
Scythians; when the Huns threatened, it was the
Huns; and when the Alans threatened, someone
would call the Alans 'God and Magog'; so too
with the Khazars, the Turks, the Magyars, the
Parhians, the Mongols. Marco Polo in the
thirteenth century thought that Gog and Magog
must be represented by the Mongol horde which
had just conquered most of the East ...
This manner of interpreting the Bible by current events (rather
than interpreting current events by the Bible) is a good example
of "newspaper exegesis," whereby Gog and Magog are usually
little more than one's favorite bad guy of the moment. Personally,
if I wanted to play this silly game, I would choose the Khazar
Theory, whereby the Ashkenazi Zionists, the Holy Land's current
occupiers, are identified as "Gog and Magog."

Of the Khazars, Heinrich von Neustadt, around 1300 AD, wrote,
that they were as the "terrifying people of Gog and Magog."
Along this line, Arthur Koestler wrote:
The evidence ... adds up to a strong case ... that
the bulk of modern Jewry is not of Palestinian,
but of Caucasian origin. The mainstream of
Jewish migrations did not flow from the
Mediterranean across France and Germany to
the east and then back again. The stream moved
in a consistently westerly direction, from the
Caucasus through the Ukraine into Poland and
thence into Central Europe. When that
unprecedented mass-settlement in Poland
came into being, there were simply not enough
Jews around in the west to account for it; while
in the east a whole nation was on the move to
new frontiers.

... their ancestors came not from the Jordan but
from the Volga, not from Canaan but from the
Caucasus, once believed to be the cradle of the
Aryan race; and that genetically they are more
closely related to the Hun, Uigur and Magyar
tribes than to the seed of Abraham, Isaac and

What makes dating identifying Gog and Magog so
important is that there are those who are using this prophecy
to justify preemptive, nuclear war. For example, on CNN's
Live From ... (07/26/06), a nine-minute segment was devoted
to anchor Kyra Phillips' quizzing best-selling Christian
authors, Jerry Jenkins, co-author of The Left Behind book
series, and Joel C. Rosenberg, author of The Ezekiel Option,
about the current Middle East situation:

PHILLIPS: So, Joel, are we living in the last
days? I mean, let's talk about the specific
signs to watch. You've written about them.
What does the Bible say, and are we there?

ROSENBERG: Well, people are very interested,
I agree. Tim and Jerry's books deal with the
Rapture, the disappearance of the church, and
the events going forward in Revelation. My
theories -- The Ezekiel Option, The Copper
Scroll -- are about events that could lead up
to the Rapture and the return of Christ. Yeah,
people are interested because the rebirth of
Israel, the fact that Jews are living in the Holy
Land today, that is a Bible prophecy. When
Iran, Libya, Syria, Lebanon, Russia, they begin
to form an alliance against Israel, those are
the prophecies from Ezekiel 38 and 39. I've
been -- that's what I'm basing my novels on.

37, those are chapters in the Bible, the Old
Testament, about the rebirth of the state of Israel
and Jerusalem coming back under Jewish
control. We've seen those prophecies happen.
Ezekiel 38 and 39, what my novel The Ezekiel
Option is about, is an alliance of Islamic
countries to destroy Israel and liberate
Jerusalem.

Jewish Christians are generally much discriminated against
in Israel, yet Rosenberg somehow found acceptance at the
highest levels of the Israeli political system, including being
employed with with former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu, and Member of Parliament Natan Sharansky. This
only makes sense if one assumes that he subordinated his
religion to the needs of the Zionist State. His recent suggestion
that Russia be added to the Bush administration's "axis of evil"
fits with that conclusion. In an article titled: "The End Times
Hits Primetime" by Matt Taibbi, posted to RollingStone.com
08/30/06, Taibbi wrote:
There have been indications lately that this
whole End Times business is fast becoming
more than a crazy hobby among the mutant-
evangelist set, and is actually playing an
important role in Middle East politics,
specifically in guiding America’s Israel
policy.
Joel C. Rosenberg, born into an Orthodox
Jewish family but a convert to Christ at 17,
is a former senior advisor to Israeli Deputy
Prime Minister Natan Sharansky and former
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Think about it: a former high-ranking Israeli
official returns to the United States and starts
writing a new genre of End Times bestsellers
whose main ideological thrust is that the United
States must stand by Israel to guard against a
future invasion by a mega-powerful

Rosenberg was on Fox numerous times

August 16 and claimed that the Iranian
president was saying that “the end of the
world is rapidly approaching and that it’s
his mission to bring it about by destroying
Israel.” At no time did he mention that he
himself was the author of apocalyptic novels.

When the end of the world is being soberly
predicted on most of our major television
networks and the Wall Street Journal, and
a group dedicated to End Times fantasies
can summon the attention of Senators, a
Republican Party chairman, and the heads
of two nuclear states, this matter stops being
a conspiracy theory. We might have to face
the fact that American politics as departed
the world of the rational and has entered the
realm of a cultist dynamic.
The question arises, are these expounders of prophecy
content to predict terrible events or are they willing to go
further and become collaborators with those who bring such
events to pass? Let us see. On 10/26/01, the highly-
connected, multi-millionaire, Chuck Missler posted to
the web an article titled: "A legacy of hate: Jihad in
America" in which he stated:

Even now, none of us have recovered from the
shocks of September 11, 2001. ... We certainly
were shocked, yes; but it should not have come
as a surprise. ... Avi Lipkin, from our own
platform in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, warned
specifically about the likelihood of an attack on
the World Trade Center in New York.

Oh really? And knowing that there was going to be an
attack on the World Trade Center, did Lipkin warn
authorities so that lives could be saved or did he just sit back
and let it happen? And by the way, what was his source of
information? In other words, what did he know and when
did he know it? Since overwhelming evidence exists that
the three Trade Towers were taken down in a controlled
demolition using pre-placed explosive charges and further
evidence linking the Zionist State's spy agency, Mossad,
to the deed, it is important to pursue this line of inquiry on
that account alone. But there's more to it than that. Lipkin
is now predicting "another 9/11." Given his track record
of specfic, insider knowledge on the subject; also, given his
background in Israeli government as a high -level, former
advisor to Prime Minister Yitzak Shamir, one would think
it only prudent to take his predictions seriously. The only
question I have is, why wasn't he taken into custody long
go for questioning?
The Lord didn't say nuclear, but I do believe
it'll be something like that — that'll be a
mass killing, possibly millions of people,
major cities injured.''

Is this just the Rev. Pat Robertson talking trash or has he been
tipped off? Last year (05/06), Robertson in his interview with
Joel Rosenberg had this curious exchange of views:
ROBERTSON: The Ezekiel Option – we’ve
been talking about it – it looks like things are
lining up in an incredible way. Who would
have that Iran – which is mentioned in Ezekiel –
would now be now the vicious enemy of Israel,
the Sudan would be an Islamic dictatorship,
Russia would be moving in, the Caucasian
republics … who would have thought this
would happen, say, 50 years ago? It didn’t
seem possible.

ROSENBERG: No, that’s right. Ezekiel wrote
his prophecy 2,500 years ago and for most of
that time people thought this just proves that
the Bible can’t possibly know what it’s talking
about. But as I wrote in The Ezekiel Option -
you and I have talked about this in the past –
this war is going to happen, what’s called
“The War of Gog and Magog.” Russia, Iran,
Lebanon, Syria, Libya, Sudan, these other
countries are going to come to attack Israel
and wipe her off the planet. Are we there yet?
It’s too early to say, to be honest, but we are
certainly moving in the trajectory of something
that Ezekiel prophesied. I tried to write out a
scenario in my previous novel – The Ezekiel
Option: what would it look like if it happened
in our lifetime? But people are emailing me
from literally all over the world right now
to explain, “Doesn’t it seem like we’re getting
closer?” And it does seem like we're getting
closer.

ROBERTSON: Well, ladies and gentlemen,
it’s a fascinating and fun book to read. And
it’s nice to read one where you say it’s fiction
but yes, this might well happen. And I won’t
give away the plot, but it’s very interesting,
and before it’s finished the treasure is there,

in it for them? One word says it all, "rapture." They believe
that the Bible promises that before the great tribulation -
when things get really ugly - that they'll be raptured out of
the world. What delusion! The concept of a pre-tribulation
Rapture has one iota of Biblical support but is made from
whole cloth. Their so-called "Judeo-Christianity" is neither
historic Judaism, nor historic Christianity, but is the recent
amalgamation of Zionism and Dispensationalism, formed
for the purpose of advancing a self-interested elite.

So how is it with the Hagees and the Robertsons, the
Lipkins and the Rosenbergs, and other such nukee-pukees
who but salivate at the prospect of a world war? Do they
think to burnish their reputations by the accuracy of their
prophetic council? Actually what this is all about is the
unreality of their profession of faith and it reflects poorly
on their followers, that their faith should need this kind
of reinforcement - war and rumor of war - to fortify it.

And when these warmongers' nasty little business comes
to fruition, if indeed it does (and lets hope it doesn't), they
will have earned the enmity of us all. I predict the day will
come when they will be remembered for the thoughtless
way they went about setting the world afire.

Pastor Charles Taze Russell, the founder of the
Jehovah's Witnesses, was a prominent advocate
of Christian Zionism in America. At about the
time that Ben-Gurion was organizing his party,
Russell visited the Holy Land to plan for the
repatriation of the Jews. He visited Palestine
twice. In 1909, after he returned to the US from
his second trip to Palestine, he published 12
articles in the Overland Monthly, which had
a readership of 75,000. In those articles he
explained the New Testament prophecies for
the return of Jesus and he advocated the
repatriation of the Jews. After that, he gave
several sermons to large audiences. On June
15, 1910, he delivered a sermon at the Brooklyn
Academy of Music to an audience of 2,800.
The Jews were overwhelmed. They were
pleasantly surprised that a Christian minister
acknowledged that there are prophecies about
Israel in the Bible still unfulfilled. They
published his sermons in several Jewish
journals and responded to him with
appreciative letters. In 1914, in a famous
speech to about 4,000 Jews at the Hippodrome
of New York, Russel proposed that "the most
earnest and saintly Jewish people" should
immigrate (sic) to Palestine. The rest of the
Jews should support, finance, and encourage
those immigrants. His speech aroused great
enthusiasm among the Jews. The Jewish
Advocate noted that Russell's view created a
new basis for a Christian-Jewish coalition.
The goal of this coalition was the fulfillment
of biblical prophecies. In 1963 the Herzl Press
(a renowned Jewish publication) described in
detail the important role that Russell played
in advocating the return of the Jews to
Palestine. Russell went to England to talk to
about 4,600 Jews in the Royal Albert Hall in
London. After that, he gave speeches and
conducted meetings in Manchester, Glasgow,
Philadelphia, Cincinnati, St. Louis, and in
other cities. After Russell's death his
successors and his followers (the Jehovah's
Witnesses) turned anti-Zionist, but his
momentum was taken over by the Christian

Today (May 15th 1948) is truly a holiday, a Holy
Day, and a new fruit is visible before our very

WARREN, Ohio - When both sides walked away from the peace table at Camp David in 2000, Robert Spirko, author of THE PALESTINE CONSPIRACY warned negotiators Ehud Barak of Israel and Chairman Yasser Arafat that they would descend into the abyss of hell.

"And, they did," Spirko says, "and, so have we." Spirko is a native of Warren and a former Tribune staff writer.

That warning came after both sides had already agreed upon Jerusalem as the simultaneous capital of both Israel and Palestine, according to Spirko.

"When both parties agreed on Jerusalem, an issue they both said they could never agree on, then left the peace table over reparations and the right of return, 8,000 lives were lost in the ensuing four years, including America's 9/11 catastrophe," Spirko reveals. "Chairman Arafat should have taken the deal. He had 90% of what he wanted. The Israelis offered to build upon that later if Arafat would stop the suicide bombers.
Chairman Arafat would take the same deal today if it was offered, but it may be too late."

He explains, "The failed talks were a catastrophe for both the Middle East, and the United States, and the only way out is to resurrect the peace talks at Camp David, freeze the already agreed upon points, and resume where both parties left off."

Spirko has given his advice to the National Security Council in Washington, D. C. over the years, and is a 1965 graduate of the Kent State University School of Journalism. He studied for his MBA at Kent State University and currently analyzes geo-political trends as an investment advisor.

He wrote the book as a spy-thriller detailing what and how the quest for a Palestinian State turned into an ongoing disaster predicting Iraq and Iran would seek to develop weapons of mass destruction. The yet-to-be-resolved "right of return" and reparations were ignored by both sides at the 2000 Camp David Peace Talks. Those issues could have been negotiated later. "The idea was to create simultaneous capitals for both countries-Palestine and Israel-with Jerusalem as the capital of each using congruous zones and a neutral governing district involving representatives from both sides with God as the central sovereign because they both believe in the same God, whether He is called Allah or Jehovah," Spirko reiterates.

"As we speak, Israel’s Ariel Sharon lies in a coma and Yasser Arafat is dead. Israel agreed to a withdrawal from Israeli settlements in Gaza, and a partial withdrawal in the West Bank. That could have been achieved six years ago at Camp David. Now, Hezbollah and Hamas have thrown a monkey-wrench into the scenario which could lead the United States and the world into World War III.”

Spirko’s book takes place in Beirut, Lebanon. It details what he thought would occur in the Middle East before the actual events; namely, the Persian Gulf War, the Iraq War, the Intifada, and other events leading up to Sept. 11. His analysis, written as a novel in 1987 and copyrighted in the U.S. Library of Congress that year, warned that the Middle East was heading toward nuclear Armageddon if a rogue Arab state, Iraq or Iran, obtained nuclear weapons. That's what's he told us, and we'd better take that into account."

They will soon increase that again to 10,000 centrifuges,” Spirko says. “They have the additional capacity to add another 20,000 centrifuges in mass production techniques that will enable them to produce at least seven nuclear bombs in about a year. Where did they get these centrifuges?”

Spirko answers that question by stating an Arab proverb, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”

“Simply put,” Spirko explains, “they probably got them from Saddam Hussein before the Iraq War started and were probably smuggled out of Iraq and into Iran just like he did his air force of 600 Soviet fighter planes. In other words, he gave them to his former enemy rather than let them be destroyed on the ground.”

“Why would he have done any differently with the 30,000 centrifuges he supposedly had on a decentralized basis inside Iraq before the war?” Spirko asks. “Isn’t it strange that Iran could come up with a nuclear weapons program in about six months to a year when it took the United States six years under the Manhattan Project with 5,000 of the world’s most brilliant scientists like Robert Oppenheimer, Niels Bohr, Seaborg, Einstein, Fermi, and others working on it?”

Modern Jews are essentially divided into two major categories, ethnically and culturally: Sephardim and Ashkenazim.

The former are primarily of Spanish origin; the name Sephardim being derived from Sepharad, the Hebrew word for Spain, and are likely the closest to actual Semitic Jews that can be established. They were expelled from Spain toward the beginning of the sixteenth century and immigrated to the eastern Mediterranean and Balkans.

As late as 1960s the Sephardic Jews numbered only about 500,000, compared with the Ashkenazim of the same period estimated at approximately twelve million. 61

In defining the origins of the Ashkenazim, Alan Brook states that "The geographic location of the Ashkenaz, based on references in the Torah, may be centered around southern Russia, Armenia, and Asia Minor. The ashkaenoi (askae or askai) were the people also known as Phrygians or Mysians (Meshech)." Some historians claim that the name Ashkenaz applies exclusively to German Jews. However, more recent evidence shows that they had immigrated from the southern regions of Russia and western Asia and Asia Minor -- that region clearly identified as the location and origin of the ancient Khazars. The name originally indicated Iranians and was later given as the name of the god of Meshech, Men Askaenos. "It should also be pointed out," Brook adds, "that Ashkenaz did not become a definite Jewish designation for Germany until the eleventh century." 62

"According to the explanation by the Talmud," writes Hugo Freiherr, "Ashkenaz thus means a country near the Black Sea between Ararat and the Caucasus, within the original region of the Khazar empire." 63 This, again, is precisely the geographic locality of the Khazarian empire. The Talmudic observation is abetted by Scripture which names Ashkenaz as descending not from Shem but from Japheth through Gomer, and whose uncles were Magog and Tubal. (See Gen. 10:3)

Ashkenaz (alt. spelling: Ashchenaz) is mentioned in but one scripture other than 1 Chronicles 6:1, which is only another reference to the genealogy as descending from Japheth. In the book of Jeremiah the prophet, God announces that Israel is to call upon other nations as allies in bringing His judgments against Babylon. Among those allies, who are not part of Israel or Judah, and therefore could not be numbered as Jews, is Ashchenaz. (See Jer. 51:27)

Identifying Gog and Magog
Separate passages in the "Jewish Antiquities" and "Jewish War" of the 1st century Jewish historian and scholar Josephus show that Jews of that time identified Gog and Magog with the Scythians: Alexander the Great, Josephus said, locked these horse-riding barbarians of the far north behind the Caucasus mountains with iron gates.^[24] A version of this story formed the basis of the Qur'anic tale of Dhul-Qarnayn.^[25]

Some early Christian writers (e.g. Eusebius) identified Gog and Magog with the Romans.^[26] After the Roman Empire became Christian this was no longer possible and attention switched to Rome's northern barbarian enemies. Ambrose (d.397) identified them with the Goths,^[27] and Isidore of Seville confirmed that people in his day supposed that the Goths were descended from Magog "because of the similarity of the last syllable".^[28] The idea that Gog and Magog were connected with the Goths was longstanding; in the mid-16th century, Archbishop of Uppsala Johannes Magnus traced the royal family of Sweden back to Magog son of Japheth, (Magnus identified two of Magog's sons as Suenno, progenitor of the Swedes, and Gethar (also known as Gog or Gogus), ancestor of the Goths).^[29]

In the 6th century, the Byzantine historian Procopius (d. after 562) saw Attila and the Huns as the nation locked out by Alexander, and a little later other Christian writers identified them with the Saracens.^[30]

Still later, Gog and Magog became identified with the Khazars, whose empire dominated Central Asia in the 9th and 10th centuries. In his 9th century work Expositio in Matthaeum Evangelistam, the Benedictine monk Christian of Stavelot referred to them as descendants of Gog and Magog, and says they are "Circumcised and observing all [the laws of] Judaism";^[31] the 14th century Sunni scholar Ibn Kathir also identified Gog and Magog with the Khazars,^[32][33] as did a Georgian tradition, which called them "wild men with hideous faces and the manners of wild beasts, eaters of blood".^[34] According to the famous Khazar Correspondence (c. 960), King Joseph of Khazaria claimed to be a descendant of Magog's nephew Togarmah.^[35]

A German tradition claimed a group called the Red Jews would invade Europe at the end of the world; the "Red Jews" became associated with different peoples, but especially the Eastern European Jews and the Ottoman Turks.^[40]

By the end of the 1st century, Jewish tradition had long since changed Ezekiel's Gog from Magog into Gog and Magog, the ultimate enemies of God's people, to be destroyed in the final battle.^[19] The author of the Book of Revelation tells how he sees in a vision Satan rallying Gog and Magog, "the nations in the four corners of the Earth," to a final battle with Christ and his saints:

When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the Earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore.^[20]

Ezekiel's Gog from Magog was a symbol of the evil darkness of the north and the powers hostile to God,^[1] but in Revelation, Gog and Magog have no geographic location, and instead represent the nations of the world, banded together for the final assault on Christ and those who follow him.^[21]

The Red Jews were a legendary Jewish nation that appear in vernacular sources in Germany during the medieval era until about 1600. According to these texts, the Red Jews were an epochal threat to Christendom, and would invade Europe during the tribulations leading to the end of the world.

Andrew Colin Gow studied the original German language texts and concluded that the legend of the Red Jews was a conflation of three separate traditions: the Biblical prophetic references to Gog and Magog, the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel, and an episode from the Alexander Romance, in which Alexander the Great encloses a race of heathens behind a great wall in Caucasus. These traditions had some overlap already; Gog and Magog are among the nations trapped behind the wall in the Alexander Romance, and the only ones named in the version of the story appearing in Qur'an Sura al-Kahf (The Cave) 83-98, while The Travels of Sir John Mandeville explicitly associates the confined nations with the Ten Lost Tribes.

Many pamphlets circulated interpreting such events as the rise of Turkish power in the context of the legendary Red Jews. Philipp Melanchthon, for example, claimed that the Ottoman Turks were the Red Jews.

Kevin Alan Brook, among others, speculated, but could not conclusively prove, that the legend of the Red Jews was actually based on misremembered accounts of the Khazars. Indeed, in Expositio in Matthaeum Evangelistam, Christian of Stavelot refers to the Khazars as Hunnic descendants of Gog and Magog, as well as having been "enclosed" by Alexander, but having since escaped, demonstrating that the Khazars were indeed conflated with two of the three elements making up the legend of the Red Jews. Other medieval sources consider various connections with the Lost Tribes, owing to the Khazars' adoption of Judaism, and they are described in Arabic sources as having red hair, a trait associated with the Devil in medieval Germany and possibly the source of the term "Red Jews". Alternatively, 'Red Jews' refers to the Idumeans, or 'Edomites' who converted to Judaism a few generations before King Herod. Edom in Hebrew means 'red'

the very beginnings of the history of the Jews of Russia. The kingdom of
the Chazars was firmly established in most of South Russia long before
the foundation of the Russian monarchy by the Varangians (855). Jews
have lived on the shores of the Black and Caspian seas since the first
centuries of the common era. Historical evidence points to the region of
the Ural as the home of the Chazars. Among the classical writers of the
Middle Ages they were known as the "Chozars," "Khazirs," "Akatzirs,"

Embrace Judaism.
In the year 669 the Ugrians or Zabirs freed themselves from the rule
of the Obrians, settled between the Don and the Caucasus, and came under
the dominion of the Chazars. For this reason the Ugrians, who had
hitherto been called the" White" or "Independent" Ugrians, are described
in the chronicles ascribed to Nestor as the "Black," or "Dependent,"
Ugrians. They were no longer governed by their own princes, but were
ruled by the kings of the Chazars. In 735, when the Arab leader Mervan
moved from Georgia against the Chazars, he attacked the Ugrians also. In
679 the Chazars subjugated the Bulgars and extended their sway farther
west between the Don and the Dnieper, as faras the head-waters of the
Donetz in the province of Lebedia (K. Grot, "Moravia i Madyary," St.
Petersburg, 1881; J. Danilevski and K. Grot, "O Puti Madyars Urala v
Lebediyu," in "Izvyestiya Imperatorskavo Russkavo Georaficheskavo
Obshchestva," xix.). It was probably about that time that the chaghan of
the Chazars and his grandees, together with a large number of his
heathen people, embraced the Jewish religion. According to A. Harkavy
("Meassef Niddaḥim," i.), the conversion took place in 620; according to
others, in 740. King Joeph, in his letter to Ḥasdai ibn Shaprut (about
960), gives the following account of the conversion:

centuries ago King Bulan reigned over the Chazars. To him God appeared

calif of the Ishmaelites sent to him envoys with presents, and sages to
convert him to their respective religions. Bulan invited also wise men
of Israel, and proceeded to examine them all. As each of the champions
believed his religion to be the best, Bulan separately questioned the
Mohammedans and the Christians as to which of the other two religions
they considered the better. When both gave preference to that of the
Jews, that king perceived that it must be the true religion. He
therefore adopted it".

In the second half of the ninth century the apostle of the Slavonians, Constantine (Cyril), went to the Crimea to spread Christianity among the Chazars (Tomaschek, l. c. p. 25). At this time the kingdom of the Chazars stood at the height of its power, and was constantly at war......

It was one of the successors of Bulan, named Obadiah, who regenerated
the kingdom and strengthened the Jewish religion. He invited Jewish
scholars to settle in his dominions, and founded synagogues and schools.
The people were instructed in the Bible, Mishnah, and Talmud, and in
the "divine service of the ḥazzanim." In their writings the Chazars used
the Hebrew letters.

The Khazars were a semi-nomadic Turkic people who dominated the Pontic steppe and the North Caucasus from the 7th to the 10th century CE. The name 'Khazar'[1] seems to be tied to a Turkic verb form meaning "wandering".[2]

In the 7th century CE, the Khazars founded an independent Khaganate in the Northern Caucasus along the Caspian Sea. Although the Khazars were initially Tengri shamanists, many of them converted to Christianity, Islam, and other religions. During the eighth or ninth century the state religion became Judaism. At their height, the Khazar khaganate and its tributaries controlled much of what is today southern Russia, western Kazakhstan, eastern Ukraine, Azerbaijan, large portions of the Caucasus (including Circassia, Dagestan, Chechnya, and parts of Georgia), and the Crimea

Between 965 and 969, their sovereignty was broken by Sviatoslav I of Kiev, and they became a subject people of Kievan Rus'. Gradually displaced by the Rus, the Kipchaks, and later the conquering Mongol Golden Horde, the Khazars largely disappeared as a culturally-distinct people.

The origins of the Khazars are unclear. Following their conversion to Judaism, the Khazars themselves traced their origins to Kozar, a son of Togarmah. Togarmah is mentioned in Genesis in the Bible as a grandson of Japheth.

Scholars in the former USSR considered the Khazars to be an indigenous people of the North Caucasus. Some scholars, such as D.M. Dunlop, considered the Khazars to be connected with a Uyghur or Tiele confederation tribe called He'san in Chinese sources from the 7th-century (Suishu, 84). However, the Khazar language appears to have been an Oghuric tongue, similar to that spoken by the early Bulgars and corresponding to the modern day Chuvash dialects.[3] Therefore, a Hunnish origin has also been postulated. Since the Turkic peoples were never ethnically homogenous, these ideas need not be deemed mutually exclusive. It is likely that the Khazar nation was made up of tribes from various ethnic backgrounds, as steppe nations traditionally absorbed those they conquered. Their name is accordingly derived from Turkic *qaz-, meaning "to wander, flee."

Armenian chronicles contain references to the Khazars as early as the late second century. These are generally regarded as anachronisms, and most scholars believe that they actually refer to Sarmatians or Scythians. Priscus relates that one of the nations in the Hunnish confederacy was called Akatziroi. Their king was named Karadach or Karidachus. Some, going on the similarity between Akatziroi and "Ak-Khazar" (see below), have speculated that the Akatziroi were early proto-Khazars.

Dmitri Vasil'ev of Astrakhan State University recently hypothesized that the Khazars moved in to the Pontic steppe region only in the late 500s, and originally lived in Transoxiana. According to Vasil'ev, Khazar populations remained behind in Transoxiana under Pecheneg and Oghuz suzerainty, possibly remaining in contact with the main body of their people.
