Nelson Mandela, Communist Terrorist, Dies
"...the ANC was prepared to depart from its fifty-year-old policy of non-violence to this extent that it would no longer disapprove of properly controlled violence. Hence members who undertook such activity would not be subject to disciplinary action by the ANC."

"At the beginning of June 1961, after a long and anxious assessment of the South African situation, I, and some colleagues, came to the conclusion that as violence in this country was inevitable, it would be unrealistic and wrong for African leaders to continue preaching peace and non-violence at a time when the Government met our peaceful demands with force."

Re: Nelson Mandela, Communist Terrorist, Dies
"Nelson Mandela surely deserves our respect and admiration for his role in the struggle against apartheid. Because he is bound to play a key role in restructuring South African society, it is essential that his restructuring views be made clear. Questions relating to his political, economic and social tendencies must be answered.
Among these questions, none is more important than this: Given Mr. Mandela's avowed admiration and strong words of praise for Fidel Castro, Yasir Arafat, Muammar el-Qaddafi and Col. Mengistu Haile Mariam, and his consent to appear in public with the convicted Puerto Rican who shot up the United States Capitol in 1954, and given some of the antidemocratic, violent history of the African National Congress, along what lines would Mr. Mandela and his colleagues like to structure a future South Africa?
The fate of South Africa and the well-being of its citizens - black and white - depend in large measure on the answer."

“That sabotage was to form only the opening phase in the unfolding of armed struggle is revealed by other steps which were taken at the same time. Before Umkhonto was formed, leading personalities had been sent out of the country to be trained in the art of guerilla struggle; an underground railway had been set up which carried hundreds of recruits abroad for guerilla-type instruction. Early in 1962, almost immediately after the beginning of sabotage, Nelson Mandela had toured Africa and Europe to obtain support for the armed struggle and training facilities for guerillas.”

"The factors which necessitated the armed struggle still exist today. We have no option but to continue. We express the hope that a climate conducive to a negotiated settlement will be created soon so that there may no longer be the need for the armed struggle.

‘THE IRA helped carry out one of the biggest bomb attacks against the South African apartheid government in the early 1980s, according to the memoirs of former senior ANC activist and politician Kader Asmal.
The former ANC cabinet minister and Trinity law professor, who died earlier this year, reveals in his memoirs published this week how volunteers recruited from Ireland carried out reconnaissance on one of the country’s most strategic installations – the Sasol oil refinery in Sasolburg, near Johannesburg, before it was bombed on June 1st, 1980.
The attack was carried out by Umkhonto we Sizwe, better known as MK, the military wing of the ANC, and struck a major blow against the apartheid state at the time.
In his book, Politics in my Blood , Asmal, founder of the Irish Anti-Apartheid Movement (IAAM), also claims Gerry Adams provided the IRA volunteers to carry out the mission after he contacted go-between Michael O’Riordan, then general secretary of the Communist Party of Ireland."

"No dedicated ANC member will ever heed the call to break with the SACP. We regard such a demand (from PW Botha) as a purely divisive (apartheid's) government strategy. It is in fact a call on us to commit suicide. Which man of honour will ever desert a life-long friend among his people? Which opponent will ever trust such a treacherous freedom fighter? Yet this is what the (apartheid) government is in effect asking us to do; to desert our faithful allies. We will not fall into that trap."

"In 1963 he [Joe Slovo] was fortuitously out of the country drumming up support for the A.N.C.'s military wing when police swooped down on the top leadership of the anti-apartheid struggle. He spent the next 27 years in exile, working as a propagandist and strategist of the A.N.C. guerrilla army and a conduit of aid and training from Moscow.
Mr. Slovo was a faithful apologist for the Soviet Union, even when others in the anti-apartheid movement, including his wife, were anxious about Soviet behavior.
[...]
But he said that given the chance, he would do nothing different, because fealty to Moscow was a prerequisite for leadership in the anti-apartheid struggle.
"Our minds were completely focused on what our position would be if we cut ourselves off," he said."

"At his arrest in August 1962, Nelson Mandela was not only a member of the then underground South African Communist Party, but was also a member of our Party’s Central Committee. To us as South African communists, Comrade Mandela shall forever symbolise the monumental contribution of the SACP in our liberation struggle. The contribution of communists in the struggle to achieve the South African freedom has very few parallels in the history of our country. After his release from prison in 1990, Cde Madiba became a great and close friend of the communists till his last days."

"Q. Mayor Linda are you surprised at the tremendous reception Nelson Mandela has received during his tour of this country?
A. It is incredible to me, and pathetic, really, to see an unrepentant communist like Nelson Mandela, the leader of a communist terrorist organization that has carried out unspeakable acts of barbarism against the people of South Africa — both black and white, but mostly black — be welcomed with such enthusiasm in the United States of America. This is a terrible thing when your president and your Congress and your other political leaders put the honor and prestige of their offices behind this man and the movement he represents.
To present Mandela as the voice of, or the leader of, the black people of South Africa is laughable because it has no basis in reality. Unfortunately, we cannot just laugh this off, because there are very serious consequences to this foolishness. But Mandela and the ANC have no significant support from black South Africans. I know that may be hard to believe for Americans who have been subjected to this enormous propaganda over the past decade and particularly these past few weeks and days, but it is true. The vast majority of black South Africans fear and dread any future prospect of a South Africa under the rule of Mandela or the ANC. Because we know what they stand for, what they have done, and continue to do, in the name of "liberation." They would bring economic ruin and a reign of terror to our country. We don't want that."

Re: Nelson Mandela, Communist Terrorist, Dies
"It is no secret to us in South Africa that the ANC is completely run by Joe Slovo, head of the SACP. As you know, when Mandela was released from prison, one of the first people he greeted was Joe Slovo. He praised Slovo and the Communist Party, and they in turn praised him, called him "comrade," and affirmed that ANC and SACP are one. This same Joe Slovo — a white man, Lithuanian-born — is a colonel in the KGB and one of the Soviet Union's most dedicated agents. He is working for his white masters in Russia to impose the same kind of totalitarian communist system that we now have in the so-called "Front-line States" — Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Angola — where brutal black puppets like Santos and Kaunda impose Marxist dictatorships on the black populations, under the supervision of their Cuban and Soviet rulers. So, you see, it is the ANC and their allies who are the real traitors to the black people of South Africa and the real collaborators with the enemy."

We have had huge demonstrations, with millions of black people calling for an end to sanctions and divestment. Sanctions are not hurting the white government, but they are hurting tens of thousands of black families. Sanctions undermine the black economic empowerment that is essential to black political empowerment. We do not want to inherit a wrecked economy."

“Co-operation between the ANC and the SACP goes back to the early 1920s… even within the ranks of the ANC there have been at one time or other, people – and some of them were highly respected and influential individuals – who were against this co-operation and who wanted SACP members expelled from the organisation. Those who persisted in these activities were themselves expelled, or they broke away in despair.”

Re: Nelson Mandela, Communist Terrorist, Dies
I'm interested in the CIA funding angle.
I read somewhere that Mandela was caught in his hideout due to a CIA tip off.
I'm wondering if the whole plan was for him to be caught, and held in prison for decades to be made a martyr for the anti-apartheid cause.
Wouldn't surprise me. He seemed like a useful idiot.

As far as I can tell....the CIA funded anti-communist alternatives to the ANC (like Buthelezi) up until they believed it was a lost cause, at which point they finally funded them in the hope they could control them. This was about 1990. Until then it seems they were primarily Soviet funded.
Very complicated business.

Complicated is right! I knew there was more to it than the media was hyping it to be, as always. I just figured out enough to file it under the BAD category and leave it there.
Too many other things vying for my attention, I suppose.
Still, interesting how they go about all their business.
Just imagine if this kind of evil intent was turned around and used to do good! What a world it could have been!
